Very out standing customer service
The steering wheel kept getting locked every time we parked and turned off the ignition, which is fine, but we had a lot of difficulty trying to start the truck back up again as the steering lock was hard to disengage. It required a lot of effort to release the lock.
Ensure that the order is fulfilled correctly.

Customer service was excellent. Whoever rented the tow dolly before me broke one of the safety chains & "re-hooked" it which made it look like everything was okay. I picked the dolly up in the dark and didn't notice the damage. I brought it to the U-Haul person who post-inspected it & he was nice enough to take my word for it and not charge me for the damage. The tow dolly was otherwise in excellent condition & I was very happy overall with the experience. Too bad the customers abuse your equipment.

A walk through the vehicle's operation would be great i.e. driving lights, windshield wipers.
My overall experience renting a truck was average. The truck was clean with a full tank of gas. The customer service on the other hand leaves something to be desired. The customer service reps were not friendly or welcoming. The gentleman led us in the direction of the truck but failed to tell us he had to pull the truck around to us, leaving us wondering where he was going. Once the truck was in front, he hopped out, and walked back inside the building, saying nothing. I have rented a truck before and never experienced that, not even a walk around the truck to check for damages not marked. I found that quite rude. My experience returning the truck was no better, the female rep was on her cell phone, practically ignoring my presence. I had to go inside to finalize vacating my storage unit, the 2 reps inside continued their personal conversation until I interjected, asking for help. My suggestion is to offer mandatory customer service/relations training.
door gasket torn on passenger door. Kept hitting the passenger window. Otherwise an excellent truck and rental experience.
Everything was great the staff was friendly knowledgable and quick the vehicle was extremely clean fresh smelling and had a full tank of gas overall the process was very smooth I recommend U-Haul to anyone
Easy to drop off. No problems whatsoever.
I was in a bit of a hurry when I was picking it up and the attendant seemed to take his time and seem distracted. Once I mentioned I was in a hurry he picked up the pace.
Although the terms that were given, made sense... know one really share any saving or how I could've save...17 mile over could have been negotiated.
$83 was a little to much. The van was brought back at the time promised plus I put more gas back in than I started with and no compensation.
Store could not print receipt of transaction. An email today from U-Haul only shows record of 1 U-box container when I delivered 2 U-boxes. Very concerned.
The only thing I did wrong was to return the truck $6.25 short of where the gas level should have been (I started to put in another $5.00 when I was at the pump!) lol. Great service and I would definitely use U-Haul again and recommend it to others!

My furniture got damage due a leaking in the truck. My mattresses, my living room set, pillows. Now the u-haul guy says that I need to call the insurance people, even when the problem was with the u-haul truck.

Very well kept and maintained facility. Some of staff helpful and friendly. Uhaul equipment in way of back door. Clean however killed Germany roaches in hall, SCARED now.

I expected that I would receive a little more courtesy than what I received from those individuals who were responsible for equipment return.
When I called in the reservation, the lady on the phone insisted that a 17' truck would be more than enough room. Due to that EXTREME UNDERESTIMATE, it caused us a lot of extra time, manpower, mileage, and extra days of truck rental fees.
Get more efficient trucks! Gas mileage is very poor with old fleet trucks.
Picking up the truck took maybe 7 minutes. Everything we had ordered was loaded and in the truck. I would suggest bringing up the need for a lock for the loading door. We had to come back for one.
The truck was easy to drive and the seats were comfortable. All-in-all, I would rate this experience 4 out 4 stars, and repeat with U-Haul again.
The drop off process was seamless. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Great process.
The truck I rented was OK, but it had about 120K in miles on it and sounded like it was on it's last legs although I didn't have any problems with it-
Everything was going great until we turned in the vehicle. After calculating the miles the service attendant tried to overcharge us $30.00. Attendant had to be told twice to calculate the miles before it was done correctly. This did not appear to be a simple mistake on the attendant's part.

You have done a great job making the rental process quick, simple, & clear.
As I walked in to rent the truck, I had a quick flashback to days of long forms with duplicates (perhaps I'm showing my age). Today, the process was quick, but surprisingly clear and informative. The user friendly highlight was the chart that should me how many gallons of gas I needed to to get the gauge back to the starting point - a small simple thing that made the process later simpler for me.
Truck was good. Return was good.

The guy was a jerk and rude. Told me I could come back and see his manager when she is in tomorrow. He knew I was about to take the uhaul out of state and I doubt his manager or a different manager isn't in on Saturdays.

Upon pick-up of the U-haul Truck, I was TOLD that the vehicle had 'A FULL Tank'... When I started the engine, the gauge was JUST SHY of 'Full'.
I wish now that I had gotten out and dragged the clerk out to see that fuel gauge..... I sure PAID for not doing so...
Explained exactly what your card is charged. My card was charged after being told it would not be until after move. Came back to store to drop off truck and card was already charged and didn't use the amount of milage estimated so card will be refunded..? Guy never SD that only to place form of payment on file.
I have rented trucks from this location before but this was the worst time ever. The person checking me in was rude and acted like he did care if I rented a truck or not. When he ask me to sign the paperwork he said included inscuance and when I told him I didn't want it and didn't put it on when I made the reservation he looked at me and said yes you did and then acted like it pissed him off to have to sue the paperwork again. Also when he went to get the truck he pulled it up and didn't say a word to me, just walked by me and went inside. The only way I knew it was my truck was an employee that was off and renting a truck said that's your truck. I said something to one of the other employees but he acted the same way, like he could careless.
The truck had mud on the wheels and the inside had trash in it.
Local Moving Helpers Carry Moving brought the two U-Boxes and unloaded them without any problems. They were quite helpful and professional.
Your truck are in bad shape they are to me very dangerous they need to be work on, the body needs to be worked real bad the 2 6 foot is what I rented I would not like to see someone gets killed in your truck with kids in it two good luck thanks
U-Haul made a large, difficult move possible, even easy for two people, especially with the dolly, appliance mover and moving blankets. Everything went according to plan even with an aggressive schedule for move-out.
I returned the truck and was charged 1600 for damages that I didn't do ... Wow
The two gentlemen that hooked up the trailer and helped load the car were great!

The staff at the Durham location were not friendly or organized. Thank goodness the mover I hired thru Moving Help was awesome.
I had a few questions about the vehicle. I would like to have someone close by to ask questions when I pick up a truck.

The original reservation location on Guess for 9am, I waited 30 minutes and no one showed up. I called the Chapel Hill Rd store for help and the response was "we have a truck you want but I will not reserve it for you, you just have to get here before someone else does". Service was very unfriendly upon arrival. The gentleman stated that what happened with the other store not opening is none his business. I had to ask another person about the truck because the gentleman whom assisted me stated he did not know to my question. I will return if I have to but I hope not to run into that staff again.

Repair the squeaky screen behind the driver and passenger seats. It was worse than the squeaks made by a styrofoam cooler.

1-I was given incorrect instruction on fastening car to tow dolly. Was told the chains should be tight. Found it difficult to do this so I read the instructions on the equipment and realized they were not supposed to be tight. Make sure the personnel are properly trained.
2-I was supposed to have separate contracts for
truck and tow dolly which caused a bit of confusion as I did not pick up or drop off at the same time.

When I called the after hours U-Haul line Vivian was a pretty mediocre customer service associate. All other aspects of experience were outstanding.
Noticed tire pressure light was on a few miles after leaving. We went ahead and loaded (fairly light load), then drove back to U Haul to have tires checked. Air put in tires. All operational. We had to drive out of our way about 15 miles to do this, but manager was accommodating in our invoice. We like this location and have used it before. Friendly, professional staff. We would use it again and recommend to others.
We had a bit of miscommunication. We had been told to find a trailer & hook it up & return to the counter. It was a real struggle to lift the hitch to the truck & hook it up. After we did so, the next guy at the counter (the original one had left) said we didn't need to do that & we had misunderstood. We didn't misunderstand what he said, and, frankly I was very irritated, however, they were apologetic and friendly, and made it very clear that they do the hooking up and unhooking upon our return. As we've rented many U-Haul trailers (including from this location) and never had this issue, I feel that this was "just one of those things that happen." They were extremely busy that day. This location has always had a U-Haul when we needed it, and, again the staff is friendly. I would definitely recommend them and will return myself whenever the need arises.
Dealt with General Manager. She was simply AMAZING - both professional and courteous! No issues with moving and/or storage. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone!

Everything was great! I don't think the lock key on the key ring matched with the lock that was on the back of the truck. But the truck itself opperated properly and was very useful for our move.
convenient location but the truck was dirty and smelled like a muskrat.
Give a clear explanation for where the key drop is for after hours customers.
Just stay at the level of Customer service you at now or higher.

the setup in the back with the bags & dolly were awkward for my use. While I really appreciate the forethought if I had needed & didn't order it just got in my way for my specific needs (moving a few large pieces)
The truck was clean but it ran poorly and wandered all over the road due to very loose steering. It was very hard starting but eventually would start. It would sputter when starting at intersections. The truck was supposed to be full but it took 20 gal of gas for a total of 48 miles. Either the guage is off on that truck or it it has an unacceptable rate of fuel consumption.
I loved the storage unit and everyone was very friendly. The place was easy to get to kept really clean!!! I will definitely use them again in the future!!
The first trailer had a flat tire when I got home( tandem wheels so it took it back to the location. When I talked to the first person upon arriving on the lot he told me I needed to call roadside assistance which was so wrong it was funny. I then talked to the man who originally helped me and he immediately secured me an alternate trailer which was fine. Other than that all went well

The guy who hooked up the trailer was excellent. He worked on why the lights did not initially work and cleaned the relevant contact.

Need more people helping with returns. The fellow that helped me was great, but there was only one of him and three returns.
The staff were all friendly and courteous and professional. The facility was well organized and clean. Not much more I would expect from a rental facility.

The axel broke. The repair person left a pile of sludge in my in laws drive way. I was offered $30 off but no refund. I was ignored on emails after. I plan on fighting the card card charge and warning people on yelp.
I experienced significant damage to upholstery and clothing from mouse feces. Spent a great deal of extra time/money cleaning my things. Not recommended.
Maybe making sure you have at least two or more people to work the counter on Saturday morning. Most of the time we were there, there was only 1 person working the counter. We stood in line for about 10-15 minutes before we could get our truck.

Used your facility three years in a row for storing my daughter`s dorm stuff during the summer. Every time we got excellent service! Stephanie was very helpful. Thank you.
Bad experience. Salesperson was rude and I waited excess time to get into my storage. My lock was removed and replaced with another lock. I was charged late fee for June 2015 and Lien of 50.00 that was not my error. I am still waiting for a refund. Returned truck was not processed to choice of location. I had to make arrangements myself in North Carolina. It was posted in July and was still charged 119.00 to removed items out of storage and be cleared. Spoken with manager and have copy of paperwork and charges.
My overall experience using UHaul (1st time customer) was excellent. Check in/out was quick and efficient. Selection of products/services was excellent and it was an enjoyable (as much as it can be when moving).

I have rented from the independent uhaul folks before. But this was the best experience I have ever had renting a moving truck. I liked everything about the transaction. Helped me price out what would be the best option either: one way or round trip. When they pulled it around, it was left running with a/c on. Checking in went really fast, someone meet me outside to make it faster. Thanks again.
7pm access is a bit early, especially during the week when getting off work. Still light until 8:30-9pm in summer.

Get them some help. All working hard but not enough help on site. Busy location. A trailer spotter would go a long way to help them. Appears they care and working without support.
It was horrible. Kept getting transferred to different people. No one seemed to know how to facilitate the external moving company.
Double check to make sure that what the customer ordered (equipment wise) is what is given to the customer and not assume that it was provided.

I forget the fellows name that help me but he was very clear in his instructions,friendly and professional. After meeting him I actually wondered to myself how he could be so knowledgable and polished for his age. I was very impressed.
Your online rental process is poor.
Check in process was very efficient. Staff at desk and at service bay very polite and efficient. Rented a cargo van and it was clean and drove well.
The service I recieved was excellent.
When I pulled up the door on the trailer it got stuck in the top of the trailer. I had to call about 3 times before I finally talked with someone who could actually help me. But by then I'd found a neighbor who lent me a crowbar to fix the problem. So I cancelled the call for help, but someone still showed up 45 minutes later to fix my problem. So very confusing and bad communication with your emergency assistance people. It would've been far easier, in my case, if I could've just talked with someone at my local location, but there didn't seem to be a way to call without getting booted out to the national service. So that was my only frustrating experience.
The service was very good. There occassions when there were too few service personnel to handle the temporary customer load.

The location on Eubanks road where I was suppose to drop the trailer would not take it. I was forced to drive another hour ( to and from with heavy traffic) to go to alternative location. That inconvience was not acceptable, especially since I received no notification that my reserved drop off location would not accept the trailer. Poor business practice.!

I was rushed through the line and everyone insude was too busy to answer my questions about the contract. When I got outside, I found someone to answer a few of mechanical questions-howto adjust mirrors and where the hazard button was located. I wanted to . go over the contract in more detail concerning how many gallons the tank held, what the optionswere to return it in the city to which I was heading, butI was just toldto return it like it was-5/8 full. WhenI was ready to add gas in Asheville 2 days later, i still didnt know how many gallons the tank held. Iknew the gauge showed 1/8 tank left of gas. So, I had to estimate what 4/8 or half a tank was in gallons.
Turned out I I put in about 6 gallons too much, not knowing how manygallons it held. So, I ended up donating about $17.00 to Uhaul. When I explained thisto the woman at the return desk and asked for a refund or credit due to my overpaying and noone taking time to answer me about how many gallons, she opened my returned contract and showed mea small, bar graph inside. It was highlighted in pink and showed how to figure out how many gallons to put in.
I told her noone showed me this in Durham and noone answered my question. They just quickly got my signature and moved me out the doir. Nor was the Asheville rep sympathetic. .
To add salttothe wound, I had to insistthatnothing needed cleaning in the van. I picked up several, large plastic bags and asked where the trash can was. Shesaid there was none. But when I went inside , the man inside showed me a trash can right away. She also told me to find a dust pan and broom inside!!! I said, "Are you kidfing? This floor is just like it was when I rented it, a tiny bit of dirt. You've already got $17.00 extra dollars. You swerp it."
My 20 year old and I left. She will vouch for this entire story, in Durham and Asheville. Unless you refund my $17.00, I will tell everyone that my experience was UHaul wants my money, but has too high a volume to give the proper service, at beginning and end. I am a parent who simply wanted to drive a child's belongings to college. Someone could have taken more time to answe my questions.
Uhaul needs to allow about 10 miles to the itinerary so that the driver can go the way that is easiest for a truck and not necessarily the shortest route!! The shortest route for me would have involved taking 70 from Raleigh to Durham. With construction and traffic lights it is not the best option for arriving safely and on time.

Service was great, in a truck in less than 15 minutes, without a reservation.
Uhaul needs to ensure that the batteries in its trucks are fully operable. We received a truck with a bad battery. We'd put on the emergency flashers while unloading the truck for safety/legal purposes, and the battery died even though we only had them on for less than an hour. When I called Uhaul's roadside "assistance," they said they'd have to charge me for a service call since it was apparently "my" fault the battery died. They also suggested I jump the truck myself. This would have been unsafe due to the power differences between my small car and a large truck. I ended up calling AAA for a jump start and when they came out they said the battery needed replacing. I had to spend another 45 minutes waiting for the battery to recharge. We lost a day of moving and productivity due to Uhaul's poor equipment. When we took the truck back, Uhaul did remove the charge for that day and reduced the rental price. They tried to brush it off as there always being some "sour apples in the bunch." No, it is your job to ensure working equipment 100% of the time. The icing on the cake is that the clerk at the desk gave me a hard time about needing the equipment for 3 days when I initially rented the truck and asked me why I needed the truck that long. That was none of his business and I was not pleased with being hassled about this.
Have the vehicles leave the premises with a full tank so customers don't have to figure out how much gas is needed to get the needle back to the correct point on the gas gauge.
Let customer know that vehicle needs to be picked by a certain time. I was 2 hrs late and my reserved van had been rented out!

My husband dropped me off to pick up the truck and the person could not find my reservation. He said that it may have been canceled due to me picking it up more than an hour after they said it would be available. I told him I had tried to call to let them know I would not be picking it up til later, but was put on hold and could not wait. He said they were very busy. Then after he looked further he found that I was to get a 20 ft truck rather than the 15 ft I had requested. If your web site had told me I would have had to get a 20 ft truck I would have declined. I am very disappointed with this experience. In addition, when I booked the 15 ft truck I requested picking it up at Mt Vickers Rd in Chapel Hill; I was told there were none available there and told I would be able to get the truck from the Carrboro location. Later on, I received a text stating I would have to get my truck from the Durham location. They should have stated this when I booked the truck. Again, I would not have booked it.
We were actually scheduled to pick up the cargo van at Lackland in Durham on Sunday morning and the person that was supposed to open did not show up. Luckily we were able to find another location to service our needs quickly but I would not recommend keeping Lackland as a u-haul representative.
Don't charge $19 for gas when the meter was literally at the exact same location as before
STOPPED EARLY . ONLY HAD TO WAIT LESS THAN 5 MINUETS . DIDN'T TAKE MORE THAN TOTAL OF 10 MINUETS START TO FINISH !
This is amazing. We got the car in <10 mins. The service is great. No extra random fees. The car looks like a new one. So easy to drive and so safe. LOve it, and recommend to everyone. (PS> we are moving a single bedroom apartment, 9 feed cargo is great!
The truck I had was definitely an older model and was ready for retirement. Was much less pleasant to use than the Penske truck I used last time I moved. If I had to do it again I'd demand a newer truck or just go with Penske and their newer fleet.
superior customer service at the pickup location. very professional, nice and well organized. truck rented was the cleanest uhaul I've ever received (seemed new) and ready almost immediately upon arrival.

I think the employees could've been a little faster at the counter/register area. The trucks could've been a little bit cleaner as well. Overall it was a good experience but I think they're some attention to detail items that could be addressed.

We rented a truck to move our daughter from Hampton, Va., to Durham. The rental space was free for the first month. That was wonderful. We only needed it for a week.
this my firt time using storage i can only say it was good for me.it was very clean and well lighted.

I don't know of any thing that could improve services because I was very pleased. The young man and lady who were working on last Sunday were great. I had to call because I got lost and the young man helped navigate me right to the front door of uhaul. Also the lady was also very pleasant. My son was a little stressed cause of the move but I began to talk with the lady working and we shared a few laughs and that really lightened the tension for my son. Next thing I knew she was pulling our truck up which was very clean and comfortable. Then we were on our way. I will definitely tell anyone who needs to rent a truck and or equipment to call uhaul on Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. Because the service is GREAT!!!!!

The truck I had was terrible.26 footer,Old,the parking break kept binging all day when driving and the transmission is terrible,yall needs to take that truck out of service,I'm so glad to get out of that truck,
When you go in to set up an appointment weeks before don't call customer day before the customer are scheduled to pick up at 1215pm and change it to 415pm.

Another great experience with Chapel Hill Blvd U-Haul! The staff is very personable and the equipment ready as promised.
Have more people on site during highly frequented days (i.e. late July and early to mid-August). We waited for about 15 minutes until an agent was available for us.
Truck emergency and regular brakes did not work. When I called and notified reprentative of issues I was hung up on the first .second time I called I was told truck was available for come to stop out truck. When I arrived jousha stated truck was going to one trip and was scheduled for someone else. I arrived in the morning and didn't get truck until 2:30.maintenance technician came to repair truck at 1:30 but indicated brakes we're stuck in neutral. My plans were destroyed for the day my hired help could help move entire day due to timing. I had to hire additional help . I was suppose to be out of home by 2:00pm to avoid being charged additional fees. I didn't get truck until 2:30. Stephanie called 9:00 am th next truck and indicated I was late bringing truck back and there was this poor family that needed to travel a cross country. She not onc apologized for my inconvenience.

I think if a customer asks about the locks on the trucks and you say there is one, that the staff should make sure it works. I asked, several times, about a lock and when I got the truck home and the truck loaded, the lock didn't work.
I called and was told I'd be compensated for having to buy my own lock and then when I returned the truck, the employee that helped me was very short, curt and didn't want to hear what happened OR offer some remedy for what happened to me. It was disappointing and put a bad taste in my mouth.
There is not quite enough parking during high-traffic times -- but I think the weekend we went is the busiest of the year.
Make sure all ordered supplies are on hand.
My experience with this location was fast and friendly.
I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone nor will I use again. Reservation was at 2422 New Raleigh Hwy, Durham, NC. When I got there I was told truck was there but customer had key. Waited for customer to bring key. After a while they found me a truck at other location. I was late for pickup and had to drive much farther. What kind of vehicle rental business does not keep spare keys? I was given $10 off, but that didn't make up for inconvenience and wasted time.
That 26' truck, number 3901 I think, had the WORST vibration at 65 mph and drove awfully. I'm tempted to go with Penske diesel trucks next time, which are smoother and more economical. And they have a lift gate.
I rented a truck for a day and found out I don't have to use it anymore. I returned it within two hours. Stephanie the manager refused to refund me back my money. I was so disappointed . I think it's a rip off. What about customers satisfaction? ????
My box was quite tattered, and some goods received mold damage, so I wish the boxes were stored in a drier location. However, overall it was okay.
My box was moved to a different location even though I specified that I would be moving into it over a few days. I received any notice.

My U-boxes did not arrive on time. When I called the store, multiple times, I kept getting routed to the call center who could not tell me where my U-boxes were or when they would arrive.
Cannot reach facility by phone.
Call center takes message but no reply in a week.
U-haul employees on both ends of my relocation from California to North Carolina did not know how to work with the U-boxes. They didn`t know how to check out, in, or bill. Much stress for me and them.

The uhaul location in Durham didn`t ship my uBox until after it was supposed to arrive in MA, making it over a week late. Unacceptable.

Units need to have lights. It`s easy to bump head on sprinkler system as large units are dark.
I want my money back for the two weeks I`m not using! The guy said no. I`m going to social media now! You charged an arm and a leg! You got people where you want them. I want my two week refund.

The facility never answered calls. Central U-Haul couldn`t even locate the box. It took dozens of lengthy calls to arrange delivery. Our pre-paid moving helper went unused due to U-Haul errors.

Pricing seemed a little high. The pest control rat poison was also used in a somewhat uncontrolled manner, resulting in poison on some of my belongings.
I ordered to begin service the 18th. They messed up twice. The services I ordered were not CORRECT until the 23rd yet they tried to charge for 19/20th.

The alarm pad has been broken for more then 2 months. I told the manger and she was suppose to call someone.
Had to walk the whole length of the building to turn alarm off on from my unit. POOR.
I made a reservation well in advance to when I needed the storage unit. Unfortunately, two months later when I got there they did not have the reservation still.
Would definitely rent a locker here again.
Everything about this place was great, except for the long wait times whenever I went into the store itself. It seems like they were always understaffed or things just moved very slowly. Thank you.

Great self-storage! If I needed access after hours I called ahead and they made it happen! My only concern is the lights are motion-sensitive turned off too early there`s no light in your unit.

When leaving I had to wait in line for 30min. I had to pay for a full month even though I only used it 2 days into the month. I reserved a truck that was not available on move out day.
Our UBox wasn`t at the location where we wanted it stored. WTF. Forty minutes after arriving and searching everywhere, staff tells me my UBox is 14 miles/23 mins away.
how about a courtesy notification when you don`t receive a regularly scheduled payment. as it stands you seem more interested in the late fee than customer service.
This was by far the worse renting experience I have ever had. The only good thing about the rental was the truck. Everything else was very unprofessional.

My box was shipped to the wrong location. Staff had problems with the computer system, which may have caused the shipment problem. Please improve your computer system and/or staff training.

Due to the ceiling shortage and the extra charge for unlimited access I feel you over charge for what is offered, so I would not recommmed your facility.

On both ends of the trip working with uhaul was terrible. They were rude, didn`t have it ready on time and even had a broken forklift and told me I couldn`t get my box for a week.
If I had not been so persistent I would not have received my box. I had to physically drive to the UHaul location housing my box to make sure that it got delivered to me .
Uhaul did not have a record of my reservation despite the fact that I called multiple times.

My U-box was requested to be delivered and paid for on June 4, with 12-day estimated shipping time. It came weeks late and staff were unhelpful in tracking.

AFTER the first month rental is paid, customers should have the option to pay weekly. It is not fair to have to pay for a month if I only need a week or two before I will be removing all of my items.
