They fouled up every aspect of this rental. They couldn't ever agree on the answers to our simple questions. Every different person we spoke to contradicted the instructions of their co-workers. Calls not answered by the location roll to a call center where the people are even more clueless, useless and indifferent.
The service has always been excellent here. I've used it about 5 times. I found a small hole in the roof of the truck before I left. I went to another local location to repair but they had no aluminum tape. Jim from this location drove over to this other location, got on the roof, and repaired it.(It rained quite heavily the first and last day of my trip) I highly recommend this location.
Have rented 2X in the last few weeks; found the equipment exceptional.

I was asked if I wanted to rent the hand truck/dolly and moving pads. I said No, thank you. I get the 17' truck home (wanted a 20' or larger one, but the 17' was the only one left - so they knew I needed the larger one) and find out that the hand truck/dolly and pads are secured inside - taking up needed valuable space. When I called to tell them that I told them at pick-up that I did not want those items, I was told that keeping them on the truck is standard and if I unsecure them, I would be charged $10. I argued the point, and eventually, they relented. #1 The customer should be informed prior to leaving that those items are stored in the truck. #2 The customer should be given the option of having them removed from the truck. #3 I should not have had to call and argue the point. Then, when I returned the truck, the trip odometer clicked to 68.5 miles as I pulled into the driveway entrance. I stopped the truck about 10 yards right in front of the door. The odometer still read 68.5. The attendant came out, went through the paperwork, noted that I had unsecured the hand truck/dolly, to which I had to remind her that I had called earlier and was given permission to unsecure it. Then she checked the odometer and re-set it. Then, she reviewed the charges, stating that the mileage was 68.7 miles. I argued that it was not 68.7, but was 68.5. But, because she re-set the trip odometer, I could not prove it. Granted it was only two-tenths of a mile, or 20 cents, but it is dishonest and not right. I am not pleased with this rental and will look elsewhere whenever possible if I ever need to rent an U-Haul truck.
Fast and Easy but limited inventory…. I rented a 10’ box truck and it was easy to make the reservation online the same day as pick up. The staff pulled the truck up and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The only problem I had was that I could not keep the truck the full 24 hours like I wanted because it was already rented the next morning but I still had to pay the 24 hour price. Talking with the guy behind the counter they sell out every weekend (they should increase their inventory if this happens every time). Bottom line rent early if you want move something over the weekend.

I called with a last minute request for a small vehicle (truck). There was availability; app't was made and I was taken care of as soon as I arrived. Service was as quick and professional when vehicle was returned. My experience was painless and I appreciate that. Thank you.

Wanted a 6x12 trailer they did not have one but they gave me a 5x10 worked out fine
Understaffed with only one person. It took 30 minutes to pick up a reserved truck with only one customer ahead of me. Contrast that with under 5 minutes to pick up a reserved truck at my regular rental place, Ryder. Also, I was overcharged for 1/10th of a mile. 16 cents. No big deal, I don't need it refunded.
The vehicles could be checked over a little better other then that fine.
This location is not particularly the best, possibly due to the location, but overall staff is usually very courteous. The location needs some sort of expansion, it is very small. Possibly facilities need to be updated? The newer policy regarding renting on weekend days (i.e Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.), needs to be noted to customers on website when customers are renting. This will ensure customers don't have false expectations.
They were extremely helpful and accommodating. They know their business very well - very knowledgeable. I would like to have had a auto trailer for a car instead of a tow dolly but they wouldn't work for my car.
Person in charge was very courteous and helpful. I don't know how it could have been any easier or improved.
Mike was great communicating with me about a truck size issue of my online reservation so that it was resolved before pick up day arrived. AND it worked out for a larger truck @ the same price.
I was very, very pleased. I have used other storage facilities in the area before, but this is the best. I am moving items from your competitors to this location this week. Great Job.

industrial part of town...construction made it difficult to get to

Everyone was very helpful and recommended the right trailor for my daughters move.
The cab leaked and I was not told about it so all my papers I had in there got wet during the night. When I told the man at the desk he wasn't apologetic or concerned. He said he wasn't aware of it and that was it
Uhaul employees are excellent, although some policies and procedures ex, weekend renting does not include 24hour, although not noted do not reflect the needs of the customer.

The truck wouldn't start after we had already loaded everything! I lost 2 hours of daylight and all my man power to move. The truck has 195,000 miles and clearly needs to be retired. The mechanic that came to fix it said he's jumped the truck several times! I want a full refund for all the time wasted and terrible experience!

The employees that I felt with were very nice, profesonal and helpful. They went the extra mile to help us. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone that I would know renting in this area.
They were nice but they didn't have the size we wanted and the trailer leaked soaking the bottoms of all my boxes. So much for psying for a covered trailer
Nothing, the employee helped me release the trailer and I was out of there in a few minutes. Painless!

The truck was a piece of crap. Had brake problems, the battery died, and the fuel gauge was faulty.
I FEEL SAFER BECAUSE OF THE CARDS! VERY WELL LIGHTED, VERY CLEAN, I LOVE THE USE OF THE CAMERAS.THE ELEVATOR IS A LITTLE SCARY BECAUSE OF THE SQUEAKING. I WILL COME AGAIN.

Very knowledgable staff. Recommended upgrade to auto hauler from a tow dolly for 1200 mile move and couldn't have been happier. Third time using Binghamton store and will never use anyone else in the area.

We found ourselves needing a one way rental on very short notice. The crew there in Binghamton went above and beyond. They made , what was a difficult time for us much easier. Truly cannot convey enough our thanks to them. I hope you will do this for us .

I went to this location because the Vestal NY location was not helpful nor were they interested in my business. The clerk was way too willing to tell me no and too eager to get me off the phone. if there was another brand in town to rent from, I would have taken my business there. Enjoying monopoly status, as you do in this area, breeds this kind of laissez-faire attitude and it will harm your business unless you take action.
My truck was not available on time
to rent. ..I got the run around and was late for my event. I got no support from uhaul... very disappointed

I really can not tell you how to improve because the service was excellent. To ask for a better service is like pushing the abilities of the people working there to the limits. And every time you push to the limits you put in danger the whole system. Thanks them all for the finest service they provide me with.

The overall customer service was good. However, there was a minor breakdown in what truck needed to be reserved, but it was quickly rectified. I was very pleased with the service. I will definitely use your services again and will gladly recommend you to others.
Ensure that you have adequate furniture pads.
This is not a negative review of the Binghamton store at all. However, I will never use uhaul again. This was the worst experience I've ever had as far a customer service goes. We ordered a uhaul Friday, 9/26/14. Friday night, I got a call that our pick up time had been changed without being asked if this would work for us. When my husband said that we really needed to have the original time, Bob, the man I was speaking to on the phone, told me, word for word, to "tell that man to shut the f*** up." I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. He then hung up on me. When we called back and insisted, they got us another reservation for the same time with a smaller truck but we were desperate so we took it. Moving morning came and as we were getting ready to leave we received another call that our time was being pushed again. My husband called back and spoke to probably 6 different people before FINALLY Jim from the Binghamton store was able to get us a truck. Jim came through for us and the people who worked at the Binghamton store were very nice. Unfortunately though, the experience that the first man I spoke to gave us will cause us to never use uhaul again. We will make sure that no one we know uses Uhaul either. I would MUCH rather use ANY other moving company at a higher cost than go through this again. I apologize for the language in this review but I feel it is necessary for everyone to know what happened so they don't get disrespected like I did. Completely inexcusable.
Customer service was excellent, entrance to facility was secure, carts were available for moving within facility, possibly a little more maintenance on facility. Overall good experience.

I would not do business with U-Haul again if you paid me. They jerked me around so much, I didn't know if I actually was going to get the truck that I had reserved weeks prior until I walked onto the lot a it was there. Very poor business practices, to send a confirmation notice and then a week before the move, call the person to say they weren't getting the truck that had been confirmed. The Bing. office made it right, after many, many phone calls on my part. I won't do business with a company like this in the future.
Had reservation for a 24 hour period and when picked up was told to have it back prior to reserved time or would be charged additional day..pick up was 515 and told to have it back at or before 4pm because they had another reservation, even though I had a reservation until 515p......Really could have used that extra time, was not happy.

There is no need to improve anytHing at this location. The staff was very kind and curtious through the entire rental process. The associate I worked was named John. He was very professional throughtout the entire rental process. He was kind and a professional. He was very thorough with hooking up my 6x12 trailer. The complete check and hookup he did to my truck was outstanding and he was also very complete when ensuring all my lights worked. John is a great employee of your company. Keep up the good work John.
again, was charged extra mileage on truck when i had to go almost an hour out of my way to pick up a truck. i have always used uhaul but will not do this again!
Was very thorough on describing what to do with the rental.
There was no lighting in the unit which made it hard to see things. The hallway light was not enough.
We made our reservation and were told to pick up by 5 on Main Street. The location closed at 3. The 800 number cut us off twice. The guys at the chenango location saved our asses.
No improvements---everything went well
Please streamline the usability of computer reservation system. System charged for extra day because expected trailer return time was off 25 min. When agent adjusted the expected return time, he had to start the reservation over completely. Had to ask again for tow vehicle make model year, options, 4wd, half ton etc, waivers, etc. Staff always friendly and energetic, but still takes 30min to rent a trailer because of computer and paperwork. Ridiculous. For example, ANY fullsize pickup can pull ANY of your trailers, so dont ask if its 4wd or half ton or what year. thanks
Walked in, a few questions, credit card, sign, walk out. Just like it is supposed to be.
Returned. I noted mileage and gas, they noted mileage and gas level. I did not even have to go all the way in to the desk as clerk just finished sending someone off in the front lobby. Receipt sent to my e mail. I went back into the rainy day in NY.
truck was a lemon and hardly started, but it got me from where we were. U-haul please get new trucks 24ft and better.

Customer Service Woman was eating cereal while waiting on me and than perceeded to tell me my time had been shorted due to a double booking.
The staff was exceptional knowledgeable, friendly, and gave good advice. The actual storage units are average but not excellent or exceptional.

Why do you charge a per mile fee, AND require gas to be replaced that was used? This is double in my opinion, and not happy about it.

The location I requested using the online reservation was 10 minutes from my home. This was changed to a location just over 60 minutes away and I was not notified by text, email, or phone. I only found out because I called the day prior to my scheduled pickup to confirm. I attempted to switch rental services as this was unacceptable. Due to the last minute nature of my situation, I was forced to continue with my Uhaul reservation. The representatives at Foote in Waverly, Uhaul in Binghamton, and the customer service hotline were all helpful.
I made a reservation and truck was not ready or available.very poor service
Personnel was friendly and helpful. They realized at the last moment that the exhaust was loud (hole in catalytic converter), and offered a 14' in place of our 17', which we chose not to take. The engine light was on during the whole trip, but we had no breakdowns.
My reservation was for a 17 ft truck for 310.00...... got a 14 ft truck for 318.00........ very disappointed....

The staff/friendly professional. The rates are too high for the type of facility it is. Convenience is the only plus that would make me recommend this.
The units are in a very old office building, so the tile on the floors and the hallway floors are `beaten up`. And, some of the walls are pretty banged up. But, it seemed clean.

Elevator could use some updating
A leak of unknown fluids through the ceiling ruined some of our stored household goods. Also, correcting billing errors consumed too much of my time.
Eric and his staff are really the best U-Haul staff that I have encountered. Very helpful.
Your new manager Eric at this site is much more helpful and professional than the last one.

rented a fourth floor unit and was talked into moving to the 1st floor. a week later the unit flooded. Insurance is giving me the run around about my claim. Worst experience ever.

I had a problem with locking and unlocking my unit because the door is broken and an employee was not helpful to me regarding this.

For an old building, it was maintained.
I would recommend updating the elevator, making it wider if possible. That was the only downside of the experience.

Manager was rude. My 24 hour access was denied every time I attempted to enter after hours. My card had to be reprogrammed at least 4 times. My unit had NO LIGHTING. Very dirty!

My antique furniture was stored there for 26 mos.I was surprised to find that when I moved out the furniture it was DUST FREE. Nice Job UHaul!
From when I first rented the unit to when I stopped the place made a lot of improvements. Keep it up.
Could use better lighting in hallway on fourth floor, tile broken up around elevator. Everything else OK. Access to a bathroom greatly appreciated.

The facility was clean and dry!, easy to access when I needed it and the staff was very helpful. I especially appreciated having a unit that was inside and on the second floor.

The building is old and has an odor when you go into the office area and they were short on staff. Overall it was fine for our use but I would probably tell a friend to find something nicer.

Overall, I found the level of customer service to be unsatisfactory at best and would definitely not recommend this facility or this company for storage to anyone.

The staff is very friendly and accomodating. For small items, this location is ok, but elevator makes large items impossible to store here.
Small elevator, shouldn`t be considered a freight elevator.Selected alternate storage location. Restricted access wasn`t acceptable. 24/7 keyed access was preferred.

easy to access. sometimes had to wait on line awhile. Used for Binghamton University. Maybe consider getting another employee to work the counter during the end of the school year and the beginning.

The facility is in an old building and doesn`t inspire confidence. A door to the exterior parking lot seems damaged and less than secure. Otherwise, it seems adequate for our needs.

The facility appearance has improved, epecially the hallway lighting, recently. The staff always treated me well, but were always tired, unkept. Now there`s a new Mgr. and thimgs seem better. Tnx, ABJ

one elevator and one cart inconvient
The office team was very helpful. I disagree with the policy of reserving units that are not available. We reserved a small unit, arrived and there were none. What good is a reservation?
Some of the storage rooms were smaller than advertised, and no one informed me when I called before coming that I would have to put a lock on the door that day.
The lights in the corridor where my storage is were not working. They over charged me and couldn`t figure out why. It took 2 hours to rent storage.
