BRITNY O | First ImpressionsI tried moving out of my storage unit before I got charged another month, but there was two locks on my storage unit. The next day I went into the office and they did not know why there was two locks on the unit. They tried blaming my husband and I said he wouldn’t do that. They told me they would have to charge me $50 to remove it, even thou I did not place the lock on there and have no idea how an extra lock got place on my unit. Even thou it was a uhaul lock they provide to renters. I asked maybe if it got placed on there by accident but they said there are no notes or anything they can find and I will have to pay the $50. I ran home to grab my wallet once returning they told me the guy was no longer there to remove the lock till the following day. So I got charged another month and now have to pay $50 on top of that to remove a lock I did not place. I got a phone call the following day saying the lock wa are moved that afternoon around 11am. I got off work and was there about 5pm get to my unit and both locks were still on one was damaged and it was my lock. The man came around the corner and I told him you are cutting the wrong lock. He told me the staff told him that lock and I specifically told them which lock. He looked at both locks and said they will both have to be removed anyways. So we waited for both locks to be removed even thou they said it had already been done. I had removed all my things that night and let the office know I want moved out of the system. He said he was not able to do it that night that it will take two days. I called corporate office three days later after moving out due to Bismarck location not picking up my phone calls just to find out they had moved me out of the system that day. I am very upset with how things had transpired and how the customer service there was handled. The front desk man did not care I was being charged did not care I was upset and did not have the time to care for his customers.

I got there it took 3 hours and 10 phone calls to the gm just to tell me they have no storage units available, I got charged for 4 nights but only had it for 3 and only needed it for 2. I am demanding a refund. This has cost me more money than I have overno fault of my own

bonita c | Overall ExperienceSo at this facility One customer service rep was very polite knew her knew her job correctly and was very happy with that but there was a gentleman there that was very nasty added something to my bill that was not supposed to be added and then when I commented on it he was very rude and then on the way out the door he looked back he was laughing I said I'm glad you think that's funny he said I wasn't laughing very unprofessional other coworkers said he was salty the day I rented it because he was the only one at the desk so for him to be nasty to customers because of that is really not not professional at all and I was really upset this morning before I went to work which was not cool I suffer from anxiety anyway. Didn't make for good start of a day that's for sure.

They said I was in the wrong storage unit!! As if I assigned myself into the unit. That unit was budgeted into my bills and I couldn't afford it,so guess what The unprofessional and illegal actions Kyle took: This general manager charged my debit card without my permission!! Several times. He got the debit card info not from me submitting it for automatic payments, but just looked at what I used in the past to make payments with. I would be in jail if I did that to him or uhaul.

nathan f | First ImpressionsMy initial intake was decent with the explanation of how the storage work. Downhill afterwards,FAR downhill and the sad part is I like the general manager,Kyle. However,Kyle showed me how he feels about his customer's experience. First, my debit card was charged without my permission. Never even discussed an automatic payment. He just went back and used an account that I used to make a payment and charged it. I told him about it and he ignored me and never apologized. That's transaction fraud and if I had done that to U-Haul I would be arrested. That's illegal and he charged me cause I was in the wrong size storage and THEY are the ones who assigned it to me. Caused me to have to pull out and now my stuff is outside somewhere. Bad moves on U-Haul.. bad. I'm disappointed because the system is great but when decided to move in , I did it with a certain budget in mind, then after a couple of months, it goes up$30+ dollars and Kyle said it was MY fault!! Excuse me but I don't assign myself the room if my choice. No apologies from anyone, no customer options , no diligence to fix and nonprofessional from the general manager. Let me tell you, the store is always a reflection of the manager. I called customer service at U-Haul and the things I was told would be done in my behalf,was a lie. No one looked into it and now I'm about to lose everything I have. Thanks Kyle for lying and being a let down.

Michelle P | Overall ExperienceThere's a mistake on the key to my locker which caused a surmountable inconvenience time I had to rent the truck then for an extra day put extra miles paid for extra gas took another probably another 12 hours of my weekly schedule and then I didn't have much help kind of like it just wasn't much help the snow was not removed I did the snow removal and I expected discount I want my mileage count I want the truck count and I guess I'll pay for the gas which is quite a bit in my time which was way more than all of it together Thanks I'm not sure if I can recommend or refer. That being said I really do expect a refund on the truck rental at least but other than that the facility looks good it's convenient stuff like that but I shouldn't have to do your snow removal twice I didn't have to ask questions or I shouldn't have to sit there till 9:30 on customer service wondering why nobody will help me or why I just can't open up a customer ready locker and put my stuff in there right away instead has told I had to wait by your customer service so that took the next day which it snowed which I had to work which pushed everything behind and it cost me tell me about $500 in wages so but if you count the truck I think we'll be good and then I'll probably refer you thank you

Pricing was steep considering nearby cities offered better rates. Overall score would be 6 of 10. The biggest disappointment was a non-working elevator for nearly two months. Due to a 2010 back surgery, I had to hire movers to remove my items from a lower unit at $127.50. Uhaul needs to offer more support to its stores in situations like this. As a former call center supervisor, there is no good reason for such slow action, the elevator is in your advertisements. Expenses are part of doing business, and response times to issues are noticed by customers.
keith p | Overall ExperienceThere was nothing wrong with the facility itself. I had a 10'×10' storage unit. The cost was extremely high at $159 a month. Temperature control statement is a reach as it was really cold in the winter and hot in the summer in there. I was on vacation one time this past summer and forgot to pay my unit. I was like 2 days late, that's when you guys forced a payment through eventhough I don't have my card on file with you.... weird huh. I had the money that's not the issue. Issue is someone had my card number there, and that's what I tell peoeple when asked about storage with you guys.. . Cost way to much and their employees will have access to your card number. I just got a 10'x16' storage unit from your competitor for $65 a month.. Much better deal.

This slow and more immobile than mobile safety hazard of an elevator has been broken down and not working properly all so that customers can actually move their belongings out of storage safely and efficiently. Are their no Elevator mechanics in Bismarck who can maintain and keep this elevator working properly so that it doesn’t take 5 times longer to haul items from the bottom level to the main floor?This is not acceptable and needs to repaired immediately!

Stacy Q | Overall ExperienceGeneral Manager was impossible to get ahold of. He failed to prorate units as stated in the move-in. We reserved a 10x10 unit and since he gave our unit away, he gave us 2 5x10 units stating we wouldn't pay extra and they "are the same square footage". When it came to pay rent, we were getting charged for 2 5x10s instead of a single 10x10. We tried for 3 days to contact him, and never actually did get to talk with him. The issue was solved without us ever talking to him. When I moved out of the first 5x10, I did so online. It stated that it would be pending general manager approval for up to 48 hours and he never did approve the move out. When we moved out of the second unit, we talked to a very polite and helpful female worker who was able to move us out of both units. The entire process of getting the units and trying to pay rent was stressful and frustrating. We won't be using U-Haul again as long as the same general manager is there.

There is a suspect and when she is caught, I am asking law enforcement to investigate the relationship between her and staff/manager. I believe this is an inside job. Uhaul advertises safe clean secure. Not secure at all. I cleaned my unit when I moved out. There is a large water puddle out side of my unit in the hall. I informed staff and they just said it's always there. It has been there for two years.

The only complaints I had with the experience was, online it said I reserved a main level unit (2 showing available) but none were available when I got there so I had to take a lower level. The other was the access key, takes some learning with the many card swipe units available so a tutorial would have been helpful. Ashley showed me the basics but she could have used more counter help so she would have had more time to get in depth with the access key. That was not on her. Overall, very pleased. Thank you. Keith

Then when I got my uhaul I was told to call and talk to a staff member at the storage location. I called and talked to a guy saying I will need storage in two days I'm driving up from idaho and I was told to call by uhaul to make sure there will be space the guy I talk to chuckled and said they will have space. I got to the storage and said I was told you guys will have room for my stuff when called the guy said ok. I told him what I was driving and asked what I would need he said he will only have 2 large units which will only fit my first truck. I then said well what can be done about the second truck. He then said I don't know what it will fit in I only have the small units left. I ask how many I will need to fit my truck load in. He said I don't know. I was like so you don't know what your storage units hold. He said yes but I don't know what you are needing storage so I can not say if it will fit. And then said I do not like your attitude. At this point I was still calm just talking harshly because the agent was not even making an effort to help me. But after he don't want to assist and didn't want to listen to misidentified or my frustrating experience. I then said oh OK let me tell you why I'm frustrated explained the canceled ubox and then the call that I made earlier. He then said but did you make a reservation. I'm like I did not say the word reservation but I spoke to someone saying want I need and when and when I got off the phone I thought it was taking care of. I then asked again what I need for my to trucks at this point he says I will not service you you need to leave. I was like really you have not done anything have not answered any of my questions and are completely un willing to help me I asked for the manager that was not there he gave me a card and told me to call the manager. I asked to use a phone to so since there was one right there oh and the. He finally did something and called the manager on his phone. Which the manager was not going to be in until 2pm I was frustrated at this time. And still continue to ask what I would need he still said I do not know what your hauling so I can not help you. At this point I had verbally ask if he is going to ask what I'm hauling so I can get help. He then said I don't know what you want from me. Really I only have been asking the whole time. So I said slowly are you going to ask me what I'm uhauling so you can help and actually help me. He then after the long time ever just trying to get some assistance said I will give you the 2 box to start with and then you can come back and order more if need be ..... so I said thank you that is all I want this whole time is some help and some effort on you part and this whole issue could have been resolved.

Casey a | Overall ExperienceBut renting a truck with uhaul I never rent a truck for out state driving I was told I wasn't going to be charge for tolls or anything in my car nd after 2 months of renting I noticed I was getting charged every 2 weeks from 30 to 20 dollars at my debit card when I paid almost 1,800 dollars in cash nd I was told it includes toll nd mileage I end up paying almost 2,ooo after I noticed the charges on my debit card wich I went and changed my debit card to avoid charges I recommend do not give ur debit card when renting for uhaul nd if u do use a pre-paid master card

Because I have now 2 units, one on the 2nd and one one the basement floors. The human factor is less than ideal. There was no lock in either room, although the emails from the online booking specified it, and I had to purchase those. Every time I had a problem ( and I had many related to the in person renting process, as well as with the online ) the wait on the phone call for customer service was more than 1/2 hr and the person could not solve my problem ( the first time she could not even understand it). Luckily, your online format is very helpful so I could solve my problems despite the human factor...

ROBERTA Q | First ImpressionsKyle Wright sucks at managing this place. He had charged me for a late fee of $15, twice before the 6th day of the month. It clearly states $15 after the first and $15 again after the 15th day of the month late rent. So I had to pay extra just to get into my storage, and when I went in to get a bag out of my storage he stated he was going to call the cops because I wasnt allowed to go into my own things/storage without paying first which I told him I had paid that day and to go head and call who ever because I had proof I paid online. And then I finally closed me storage with them last month and now almost 2 weeks later he has charged me a " $25 cleaning fee" on my card which was only removing a 2 queen size mattresses. When I was closing out my account I had told the young man who closed my account for me they were in there and I couldnt get them out by myself because I am 8 and a half almost 9 months pregnant now and he said he would take care of that for me. Now to see Kyle is charging me $25 for that is ridiculous. This storage is way over priced and the manager, Kyle, is not fit to be running businesses where he can just rip people off like that and feels like he can do as he pleases with others money.
