Showed up and the clerk didn't have my reservation. After I showed him the email with the reservation, he stated, "Well, we can get you trailer, you'll just have to go somewhere else to pick it up." When I told him I just needed it overnight (even though I had reserved for 24), he said they could do that if I had it back before 10:00am (total rental of 17 hours)
Upon return the next morning, I towed the empty and clean trailer in to the return spot per the clerk's directions the day prior. No one was there to check me back in. I went inside and there were 2 clerks inside. I told them I was returning the trailer and they said, "wait outside, someone will help you out there."
I went back outside and waited for about 5 minutes. No one came out to help. I went back inside and clerk 2 had disappeared. Clerk 1 was now on the phone. I took the manager's business card and wrote on the back, "Trailer is clean, dolly is inside trailer, I'll leave it in the drop spot, I have to get to work." I proceeded to push it across the counter to the clerk. He then interrupted his call to call back across the lobby to me that I needed to have it checked in by a Uhaul clerk.
Not knowing quite what I should do, I went back outside and waited by the trailer. A young clerk came by from out of no where about 3 minutes later. By this point, I had raised the trailer door and was waiting. I said, "Good morning. I'm dropping this off. Everything worked - I only had it overnight." As he walked around the trailer, he did not say hello, acknowledge I was there, or say anything about the trailer. I told him the dolly was in the back and everything was clean. Still nothing from the clerk.
I then told this clerk, "If everything is good to go, I need to go... gotta get to work." Still nothing. He went scribbling on some paperwork. A moment passed, then I said, "Everything good? I really need to go."
He then proceeded to say, "yeah, we'll just bill your card." I asked, "What card?" He said, "The card you used to pay." I said, "for the rental, or are you claiming damage?" No response. I asked again, "what card - what are you getting at?"
His response, very sarcastically, "the card you used to reserve. We'll just bill you. Get out of here."
Rude morning employees... no getting around that Afternoon employees need better training at best. This is my 4th or 5th time using the Bozeman Uhaul store and my experience has been about the same every time. I'm not one to usually leave negative reviews, but the morning check in clerk pushed me over the edge on this experience.
Though Budget doesn't have trailers, I'll just rent a truck next time from them. They are much more professional and at their truck rental rates, I'd happily spend the extra $10 not to have to deal with deadbeat employees who have no GAS (give a shit).
