went to pick up my uhaul at 2059 harbor blvd costa mesa . The office was closed on monday 8/31/15 at 4:30pm. the office hours on the doors said they were open 9-6, but no one was at the door. i had to waste my time and drive to a different location to pick my uhaul that added extra miles to the amount i drove on the truck. i was upset about the organization of picking up the truck. i will not use your services in the future. please feel free to call me at 9499220383''

I suffered a fail, trucks need to do something to prevent fauls
I had reserved a 26' truck but somehow I was in their computer as a 20' truck. Fortunately they had a 26' available, otherwise my move would have been a disaster.

This is my place to go for any kind of moving rental equipment from a dolly to a truck.
It is located on a one way street so my husband had to go around the block to enter it. Other than that, it was easy to reserve online, get and go. We were upgraded to a larger size for the cost of a 5 x 8 because we had a truck and 2 or 3 others wanted the same size. It worked out well for us. I already recommended this place to my friend who is moving next week.
We rented a truck on a Sunday afternoon and were allowed use for 24 hours. We intended to move everything into our UBox that evening by end of business day, but things took longer than expected and we called this UHaul location to ask if we could return the truck after business hours to finish loading the box same day. We were told that wouldn't be a problem, but when we arrived with the truck loaded up with our belongings, we found our UBox had been locked up behind closed doors. Of course I understand the policy of locking up things when business hours end, but why tell us that we would be able to load it? We ended up having to leave the next day when we had planned to leave that day, and our entire schedule was thrown off.
Prompt service, no hassle
Every summer we rent a truck four times. The people and service have been outstanding.
All the people there were especially courteous and helpful. My pick up was quick and so was my drop off. within 15 minutes of arriving for pick-up, I was out the door. Within 15 minutes for drop off, I was also out the door. Great customer service.

The location wasn't very well set up.
Perhaps talk nicely to job seekers not to jump at arriving customers. Not used to driving rucks, so the people stepping out at me scare me. Could easily have hit some of them.
The guy was funny and made the process smooth.
The trailer swayed excessively while on the freeway. Very uncomfortable travel for everyone in vehicle. If my vehicle had not been a heavy Hummer H2 I probably could not have made the trip. Many cars passed by and tried to wave us that there was a problem.
The line at the front desk in the morning was kind of long. Very friendly crew though.

this location was good. the regional traffic office ended up costing me $1034.27 in the difference between my 26' truck that I had reserved over 3 weeks in advance that they didn't have. then they sent me to san jose in rush hour - costing me almost 4 hours of packing time and no truck available. had to rent from penske and with no notice (because of no uhaul truck) the rental was over $1000 more. the person on the phone offered me $50 for my "trouble" after telling me there was nothing he could do about it. This was overall, the worse customer service experience of my 47 years on this planet. I was hoping that for all the trouble caused you guys would give a repeat loyal customer a free 1-way 10 foot truck but offering $50 appears to be what I got (and then never verified i was getting it either). then - someone offered 200 off - but i haven't seen that, either. I will never use u haul again - and I will tell everyone I know for as long as I walk the earth what a miserable bunch of lying greedy non-empathetical people are employed at u haul. and if that stops 1 or 2 folks from renting 1-way trucks, it will cost you guys more than doing the right thing would have last week.
The problem with this location is that there are three other facilities along the same street named u-haul so it's very confusing finding the one that has the trailers for rent. There were three other customers, while I was there that had the same problem. I suggest you drive it and use the eyes of someone who has never been there and you will see the confusion of finding the place. Very, very, frustating.

I really appreciated how quick and easy everything was. I especially liked the checkout process. I was met as soon as I pulled up and it was all done on a smart phone including the bill. All emailed to me fast and easy.

The only problem dropping off is there r couple of u-hauls facilities to close to each other
I not familiar w that area so when I see U-Haul sign I feel that is where I could drop off trailer but it wasn't drop off spot just storage & boxes but how was I suppose to know that & the man there was not very helpful & since it is right next to freeway no room to turn around after some time I was able to head in right direction with no help from man at U-Haul spot
I say make drop off location more visual & non drop spots easy to see
1.Tim was rude to me. He must have been having a bad day because he was very abrasive.
2. There was 100 extra miles on our odometer. Luckily someone caught this before we left and radio-d inside to change the miles on our account. When we returned there was still the 100 extra miles. No one had changed our account. They resolved the issue eventually, but if we had not been diligent they would have charged us $80 extra.
3. We specifically asked multiple times to pay with cash, and that we did not want to pay with the credit card. Before taking the U-haul and when dropping it off. When we went to pay the guy said they had charged the card already.
Overall this was a bad experience. I understand that things go wrong by accident with the 100 extra miles and the credit card, but Tim's attitude was unacceptable. Honestly that is the reason I will never come back to this location and will avoid U-hauls in the future. When things go wrong, I realize sometimes there is no one to blame, but a Manager being rude to customers is bad for business.
Everything is good except the truck has a really bad smell.
An unusable padlock was chained to the gate. Had I known it was unusable I would have picked one up sooner, instead of after the truck was entirely filled. The old lock should be cut off.
Also, the copy of the ignition key was worn out. It would work okay one time, but I'd struggle to get it out of the ignition the next time.
Inside and exterior need a good wash job. Inside center console was sticky. Windshield was filthy.
Overall experience was good enough that I'd come back. Salesperson was very thorough in explaining things, options. Staff =10. Truck cleanliness=3.
Fantastic job. Thank you to EVERYONE who works at that location. I spoke to six different employees on various days; they were all courteous and informative. I was a little nervous about using a hitch and trailer on my Mitsubishi Eclipse to drive to Idaho, but your people made it happen!

The cargo area of the truck had not been swept out. We swept up a large pile of dirt and debris which included 3 big bolts/screws. I have had three different experiences with this particular rental facility, and this is the first time that has happened. Otherwise, I am quite impressed with this location.
Have the equipment that I asked for please
Forgetting to give customer their equipment before they leave, untrained personnel giving false information and an unwillingness to compensate customers for mistakes made by their employees amounts to a bad way to operate a business and the epitome of this location. At the least, when management or their employees make a mistake that inconveniences the customer or costs them money, they should be courteous and attempt to rectify the situation. This location appears to be incapable of doing either.
Everyone I spoke to was so helpful when I was caught in a stressful situation. I highly recommend this location.
Tim was rude from the beginning, he chased men off the property and told them to RUN! He tried to convince us to take a smaller truck when we clearly knew what we wanted and needed. He was very arrogant. He called many times threatening me. Terrible UHAUL rep as we rent often and know great operators like San Clemente on Puco location.
Great service at location, but website a bit difficult to get all the information about moving with U-Box and hiring movers though
I would recommend it because it is close, but it was incredibly crowded in there. Hard to get the trailer where they wanted it.
Give customers better info about where they need to go when checking in for storage rentals. The address and phone number are for two different locations and are not clear for a customer, and will have them driving in circles just to get to both of these different locations. Also, better customer service when on the phone, attitude is not necessary and will drive people away.
Front Desk Staff, and Equipment team all did a great job.
The illegals in front are very aggressive, blocking the driveway and yelling. The location was also inconvenient especially this time of year with the fair going on. Need more parking spaces for customers. There was not a spot when I arrived or returned to drop off.

Stephan and Cody took care of us and they are outstanding, especially Cody Yellen (sp?). Cody explained everything about the truck and answered all of our questions. He was very personable, even first thing on Sunday morning!
Everything about this location,its staff, and equipments are top of the line. Theres nothing bad to say about them. I just wished they gave me a 50% discount for bringing the pick up truck back in perfect condition considering i have to sit on a thick pillow to elevate myself up( I'm only 5'1) and the seat doesn't go up which made it very hard for me to see the road. Not to mention the fact that I am a crazy,female,and blind Asian driver . But brought the equipment back in one piece :). Thank You u Haul.

I came in to rent a van and was out the door, on the road within 10 minutes. I was helped by a very friendly knowledgeable staff and I will definitely come back.
The only concern that I have had about my last few visits, is the ease of access and parking!
The people at drop off were perfectly pleasant, helpful and ease of drop off was good as it has been in the past. I have a huge issue with the manager though and his "executive decision" to change my pickup location. This is where my original rental was to be picked up from and after calling to discuss extending it the duration the manager moved it to a location 40 minutes without even consulting me which threw our entire move day off and cost me hundreds of dollars in wasted money with movers. I also was overcharged on the return end too where they tacked on an additional $31.60 in charges. When I signed for it I believed I was signing for the final bill of $31.60 as you do with a traditional rental...not that we were being charged an additional fee on top of what I was already overcharged.

1. My original reservation was to pick up at Tustin location at 2:15pm. Then, they transferred me over to this Costa Mesa location, and changed my pick up time to 3pm. I had to re-arrange my moving schedule, and also had to pay extra fees. Asked for any discounts or anything to the original Tustin location, and they said they would call me back, and of course never did.
2. Side brake was broken, and since warning sign was on, it was beeping all the time while I was driving. I asked to fix, but was told that I just have to deal with it.
3. When I returned the truck at 7:15pm ish, the location was closed and nobody was there. They could tell me this when I checked in. I don't know how much total they would charge me at this moment.
Overall, it was a terrible experience.
I had an accident and they charged me for the damages, but they are literally fair.

I've rented here many times at this location and have had no issues and the experiences were great, but this time was NOT a very good experience.
I rented a 9' cargo van online, but when I came in to pick it up, the person working the desk told me he didn't have me down for a 9' cargo van, but a 10' moving truck. I even showed him my online reservation confirmation where it clearly states I reserved a van. He told me there was nothing he could do and he didn't have a van available, no apology or anything or explanation. I didn't need a 10' truck and wanted the van because it was smaller and I could lock it without an additional lock.
I finally just took the truck, but when I go outside I see 2 cargo vans in the parking lot!! There was no attempt to make things right, even when I had proof that it wasn't my fault with the reservation. I haven't had any issues at this location before but this time I left mad.
Trailer was clean and in good condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. I was in and out quickly.
Truck was very noisy (the back). I put the amount of gas in that the contract stipulated, and it went way past where i started. No credit was given.

Moved my rental to this location because the originally scheduled location wasn't open. That was a big flaw w/ UHaul's web application. This 2680 Newport Bl location saved the day and I was only an hour late to my destination!

The auto trailer was covered in oil and grease. The ramps so slik that when I was loading - driving up to ramp my classic car it slipped of the ramps.

Everyone was super helpful and nice! Drop off was effortless but wrong address was given so just maps the shop name but drop off was so seamless and easy.
I had a new van that was very clean, and everyone at this location were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this location.
On a separate note, I would like to suggest that U-Haul purchase vans with back-up cameras. It was very difficult for me to back up accurately and impossible without assistance.
Had reservation at beach blvd location but no equipment, so i would suggest fixing that problem first. I dont like driving all around california because uhaul didnt have their communication together.

Called before dropping off Uhaul after hours - they did not specify where to drop off the Uhaul and I pulled into two different Uhaul storage locations earlier on the street before finally finding the truck location. I wish that had been clarified on the phone.

The truck is old with over 100,000 miles. It gets the moving job done but shaking and vibrating on the road.
Employees at this site where very professional and curious. The only problem was the parking space and rental pickup process. Complete chaos! Too little parking space and lack of guidance by the UHaul employees. Took almost an hour to pick up our 6 × 12 cargo trailer.

Awful customer service. We were sent out without running lights and could not haul our load at night. Upon return of the trailer, the staff said "well it got you moved didn't it". I would recommend this uhaul be avoided if at all possible.
My husband and I used 3 uhaul locations to facilitate our week long move of 70 miles. This Costa Mesa store was unbelievably rude and dismissive.
Truck broke down. It took a long time for roadside to show up. Very poor service.
It is very difficult to get to a live person. And even if you do, they can not get in touch with the actual u-haul location to book a trailer, check on the status of your box etc. So you end up spending hours on the phone.
Nothing comes to mind; very efficient, friendly employees.
I originally was supposed to pick up my trailer at the Lake Forrest location, as I was moving from Laguna Niguel to Lake Forrest. I reserved the trailer 11 days before the move date, and less than 24 hours before I was supposed to pick it up, I was told that there were no enclosed trailers at this location and I would have to drive to Costa Mesa to find anything close to what I had reserved. This change added 80 total miles to my move and wasted much of my moving time. I was told that if I wanted to return this trailer to the Lake Forrest location (which is down the street from my new house), it would cost an extra $40. I understand that there are a limited number of trailers available, but why was I able to make a reservation if there were going to be none available in the first place. I was not offered any kind of compensation for this large inconvenience, much less a simple apology. And as far as the $50 reservation guaranty, it only applies after they call and confirm the reservation, which made it pretty much useless. I will be hard pressed to use uhaul again.
Gas tank accuracy, if you are going to charge that much, go digital so that a tick over a half isn't just given the eye test.
Parking lot congestion prevents us from being able to get out of the lot.

Don't have a lot of experience with U-Haul, so it's hard to rate relative to "Average" or whether I'd recommend this location over other ones.
Your $30 gas refill charge is a complete rip-off and is easy to overlook when the contract is issued. Charging $5+ dollars per gallon ought to satiate your greed and cover your legitimate cost of doing business.

Uhaul is a complete nightmare. I recently moved from vero beach,fl to California and it has been nothing short of horrific with this company. Every uhaul location we went to, the employees had NO clue what they were doing. I reserved my reservation on my credit card and somehow you guys managed to charge TWO cards in the amount of 1721.00. I will never use uhaul again! The better business bureau will be hearing from me. Not even the upper level management in this company know what they are doing! TERRIBLE!!!!

Although equipment was in perfect running condition, it wasn't clean. It had thick dried mud under the fenders and sidewall of the tires. Not a big deal though.
My overall u-box experience was poor, but that was due to the central U-haul Customer Service Team. Tim and the Costa Mesa Team were the heros in our experience.

They charged me for a new wiring computer that was just installed in 10/15 by UHaul. Used once and failed.
I was not offered the 2 year agreement verbally. It just feels like a rip off. I can't recommend UHaul at this time. They try hard but over charge.
Great experience. Staff helped me get exactly what I needed. They were honest and helped me change my reservation to accommodate exactly what I needed.

The only thing that is uninviting about this location are the hoard of people standing outside and whistling down the uhaul trucks. I suppose they are looking to make some bucks as day labor helping you unload, but not great presentation.

I was very impressed with the movers on both ends of the trip. I could not have made this move without the friendly and great movers!
We rented a Car Trailer from the San Tan Valley location to haul a Corvette to Newport Beach for an Auction, cost approx. $150. We then had to rent the same trailer at this location to haul it back to San Tan Valley as it did not sell and the cost to rent was $278 for the same trailer and same distance. I think that is a bit ridiculous! I also previously rented the same type of Trailer from Okotoks, AB, Canada to San Tan Valley AZ for approx. $450. I can't see how the Newport Beach location can justify charging that much!
My poor rating is a result of some shoddy workmanship in wiring our vehicle for trailer lights hookup. The wires were left unsecured near the exhaust, and came in contact with it, which melted the insulation and caused the wires to short out. In addition, the wires from the plug for the trailer were bare in one area which resulted in the brake and signal lights shorting out.
Very busy and crowded but the staff were still very friendly and helpful.
Lack of sufficient customer parking and an overstock of vehicles for dispatch made maneuvering a challenge. The item which I had a reservation for was full of demolition debris and had to be rewired before I could leave. Caused me to be behind schedule all day.

Appliance dolly mechanism did not hold tension and was a danger to use in its condition. No effort was made to adjust my charges as a result of longer time required to compensate use of the defective equipment. Just a "sorry" and that same dolly will be rented out to the next person without corrective action.
I asked for a one bedrm + garage truck plus a full size dining room.
The truck given to me was not the size I needed!!! The truck I recd was not big enough. The girl that I spoke with did not fully listen to my requests!!! I will never use this location again... It cost me time/money w a sm one bedrm truck!!!! Plus the mgr of this location loss his temper... He has big time anger issues!!! He was unprofessional in my opinion
Not real happy with the customer services I received regarding my needs to extend the use of the rental. I was told that I could not extend the use of the van and had to bring it back or be charged for and extra day. With in 30 minutes I returned the van only to find out that there were four vans available, 2 which were scheduled to be rented ( reserved ) The particular van that I was rented was brand new, only 700 miles, My guess is that the van I rented was promised to a friend of an employee. I would have gladly exchange one van for another, however, the only option I was given was to get a vehicle that did not meet my need at an additional charge.
Perhaps additional customer parking. However, the service was fantastic, from quote, to booking, to vehicle set up, to return. All seamless and indicative of good organizational management.

This is a very busy location. Everything was great - the only thing I'd improve is the wait time to rent and return but the guys hustled to keep up.
Although the staff was very nice, our truck had a bad battery that required a charge almost each time we turned off the truck, equalling 3 out of 5 times, and I was not compensated for this problem. Also, when I went to return the truck (after hours), the lock would not open, so, I could secure the Dolley's inside the truck. I called roadside assistance for the 2nd time that day, and was put on hold for more then 20 minutes, and had to eventually call a friend, who was able to open the lock and secure the lock. I usually have an effortless experienxe with Uhaul, BUT, this time I had a HORRIBLE experience with Uhaul.

I rented a truck and it was a very easy, hassle free process. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this Uhaul facility, they are top notch.
Truck had 88,000 miles, steering had too much play. At checkout, wrong gas tank level was recorded which caused a 30 minute delay at check in to sort out. I was inappropriately charged a $15 fuel fee. I eventually got satisfaction, but it was time consuming with no smile.

The attitude I got from the person who checked in the truck with, was a little condescending. Otherwise it was pretty businesslike. Not much interaction.
Check-In was understaffed and took longer than it should have.

Inside staff great! However, I was not clear where to pick up tow dolly. Confusing lot. Staff was not pro active seeking customer's attention. Equipment was poor condition. I had to zip tie one of the wheel wells, so not to fly about freely on the trip.
The actual rental experience was very good. My frustration was with the experience I had when they installed my hitch. The manager was away and the had clearly overbooked. I waited over three hours for a 90-minute job. Had I been informed in advance, I would have had someone pick me up instead of waiting at the location.
You need more customer service. To wait in line 1/2 to 45 minutes on Pick-up is excessive "mismanagement"! Between 8:15 - 9:30 was way bad. Your "BAD"!
I think the new competitor on Harbor deserves a look!
one of your staff said I had no reservation so I could not pick up a truck and then another staff member said I do have a reservation but now theres no trucks left. and then theres the parking and acess, it was the worst parking jam I have ever been in in my entire life. they need a bigger location.
Truck was filthy on the outside! When I put over $20.00 of gas in the truck. It barely registered. I only drive 10 miles. The gas station mentioned this was a common problem. The concern is the tanks are being tampered with. I would say yes. I felt screwed. I won't use u haul again.
This was the 3rd location i was sent to by uhaul. The truck was filthy and reeked of cigarette smoke. They did not have the utility dolly as requested.

Terribly disappointed in all aspects of this transaction. Two big errors were made by the U-Haul Costa Mesa team which cost me a lot of time and money. Don`t use them.

For the second time your staff did not tighten ball connection and this time the trailer fell off going out your driveway. I will have Ford dealer check for damage. Three Employees came out quickly after I called them and re attached trailer
The only complaint that we have is all the Hispanics blocking the driveway, a little uncomfortable for sure. Other than that the location was great. Also the Staff was really nice and helpful. Will use this U haul again.
The cab of the truck was dirty and had marks in several locations. The cup holders look like they had spills in them. The truck had something sticky on the floor. The ramp also operated rough. In order to get it all the way back in I needed to use excess force. Otherwise it was in good condition and worked properly.
We only dropped off here... But the attendant was outside and super friendly and helpful. In and out in less than 10 min. After an 8 hr drive and then unloading up to the third floor... It was a good ending! Thank you:)
Experience was excellent except for the lack of parking at this location in Costa Mesa off Newport Boulevard.

The vehicles need to be washed no matter what. Dents and marks can not be seen properly upon initial inspection. Other then being given a dirty van, the services, professionalism and promptness was spectacular!!!!
The service was very efficient. I can't think of anything to do to improve other than more customer parking but the lot is limited.

issue with the floors on 3rd floor..wheeling heavier objects the floor tilts forward and downward..should be addressed for smoother transition between levels
When I got to unit it had someone else`s stuff in it. called office, they didn`t help. decided to move stuff out. General Manager, Tim, chastised me about moving stuff out. unprofessional.
Uhaul failed miserably to live up to it`s promise of one month`s free storage with a one way rental. We rented three trucks and were refused 3 months of rentals, instead offered only one.
only two very small carts, third floor was extremely hot 120 F, we were forced to buy new locks when we already had 2 locks from UHaul they were not round

Every other storage facility I have used before turned out to be a nightmare. My opinion all changed because of Tim, the mgr. at UHaul
Everyone was super_ friendly, helpful, on-time. Great customer service. I could not have been more pleased. And the packing guys were magicians, polite, and fun.
The facility is very clean,carts were always available, and the lights worked well. I saw an attendant on the premises a few times that I was there which was reassuring.

The person I dealt with was very helpful and professional.
I could not get the gate to open, returned my fob 3 times - none of the guys knew the exact procedure and didn`t care enough to figure it out!

1 box seemed barely road worthy. The other 5 were in great condition.
Attacked my illegal mexican workers attempting to get in and getting out of the location. Horrible. I will never go back there. Ended up at a competing facility that felt safe.
I think it is a poor customer service to not have a dumster especially at a storage facility. And then to charge customers if they need to dump trash.

Brandon Pearce Johnny Fackrell were friendly, accommodating willing to work with us at every obstacle we ran into. The customer service that was above beyond the norm.
The local delivery company did not deliver and i was charged and now going through refund process. I would line the boxes with something to keep the sawdust to a minimum.
The Costa Mesa store was great aside from mailing a key in a regular envelope but the receiving site was terrible.
good concept. coordination to setup using the u-box was horrible.
rented unit 406. main gate wouldn`t open. had to hand carry my stuff to unit, then storage door wouldn`t close. Uhaul rep treated me horribly. wont rent for 2 years now. will be moving out.

Estimated time of arrival to transport UBox from New York to California was inaccurate. Neither uhaul center could track boxes or give me an estimated time of arrival.

There is a sign posted at the exit gate that states: You must sign out before you leave or access may be denied! Unfortunately the office door is locked and no one responds when you knock.
Rude customer service in trying to find out details in closing my account. The service elevator was closed when we tried to move out without warning or notice. Will not recommend.

Computers were down the first morning. Second time that has happened to me here. But staff helpful. We had 5 boxes they had to change out.

Door lock didn`t work and staff took a ho ur to charge my creidt card all the while the mangerTim at the costa mesa ands 55 fry was there but he was to busy talking to a freind to help..
The entire staff made moving and storing a very positive experience.
If there was an extremely poor box, I would have checked that. My issue is with the staff maintaining managing the facility.

Staff was rude. The keypad on the wall is a major inconvenience. We moved out of our unit and notified the manager or employees, they were unprepared and unprofessional in handling the situation.

In fairness, the facility had just recently been purchased and renovation was on going.
At times I wish the facilty not the office necessarily were open later.
Due to the poor management by the previous owners, I had many issues with this location.However I still was displeased with the customer service I received even after the unit was under new management

Difficult to maneuver a 26` truck within the confines of the storage area. Other than that the staff were extremely helpful and conscientious.
