I reserved a trailer for San Clemente I was told the day before pick-up I would need to go to Oceanside - 25 miles from my home - we did it because we had no choice. Also the first trailer that was hooked up to our truck had broken lights and had to be taken off and replaced with another unit
Checked equipment back in fast and removed extra day's rental charges, which brought the cost closer to what I had planned for.
From my experience nothing needs to be improved.
They were so wonderful and worked with us when we were unable to get the truck returned on time. THANK YOU!!
Nice customer service. Speedy. Friendly. Truck was not clean however and had messy crumbs everywhere. Otherwise, we always have a nice experience when we rent trucks here.
Keep your promises about reservations and credits, background check your employees because my tools and business grade router were stolen out of the front seat of the truck while the truck was being parked by an employee. I never received the promised credits or extensions for all of my trouble ( the stalled battery, the reserved storage space that was supposed to be waiting for me on my moving day but was not, and the frozen lock that would not close on the evening of my move and then would not open without special tools and blunt force when I could finally get another day off to move my things into storage. I was overcharged for extra mileage too which should not have happened because the only reason for the mileage was because my storage space was not reserved as promised and the lock on the truck was malfunctioned, which forced me to park the truck back at the Uhaul lot where it could, at the very least, be observed by security. As a final insult, your staff stole my cable router and my tool bag out of the front seat of the truck while repacking it to Wisconsin Avenue in Oceanside and then when I get the bill, you have charged me nearly $400 for this whole fiasco. I am going to light up your company on every social media website unless you make this situation right. I am a working disabled, single mother of three. I had to move in one day to avoid a stalker that would not leave my children alone. I told your company this on the phone and I expressed the urgency of the situation and that I had only one day off and that I needed a certain size truck and storage facility. When the lock malfunctioned and the battery malfunctioned and I called the service center, their phone service gave me a message that their service was out. Your roadside service suggested that I have to mitigate any problems I may have with the individual stores. The store suggest I take it up with the corporate center or Roadside service. Roadside service suggests that I drive the truck each time to the store to have it taken care of. I all dispute these charges as they are ridiculous. I feel taken advantage of and not treated well at all.
A little more empowerment for the staff. Because a nearby gas station was closed, I had to drive 3 miles away and got charged. Miles are miles but things beyond anyone's control are just that. Waiving a couple of penny-ante things like a few miles wouldn't break the company, and keeps customers like me coming back.
Have a now smoking vehicle option!
We always use U-Haul and are never disappointed.

The Service was awesome!All the people there were wonderful, helpful and friendly. The person that guided me to the truck explained the truck to me as well as the easiest directions to where I was going. The truck was clean and neat and looked well maintained. The truck (although maintained) was old and in need of a new one. The steering was loose and not balanced, the transmission did not want to shift and the engine sounded like it threw a rod. You simply need to replace this truck. No Doubt it was a scary drive. Like I said, the people were Great! THe truck was not.
The online services are terrible. Self online check out is a joke. I was charges for fuel even though I left the truck with more gas than I picked it up with and shouldn't have been charged. The website is generic.
Very expensive and was told dolly came with truck but I was charged for it...

I think paying by the mile is absurd. I could see if someone had to pay by the hour but by the mile was a little absurd to me.
There was only one lady working inside. I had a rental reservation for 3 hours (4-7) and didn't get the truck until around 4:45 and they still made me get it back at 7. Eventually someone who didn't even work at that location started taking people to get the line down. At one point there was another lady in there on the computer at the desk but wasn't taking any customers even though there was a line and that is why the one who didn't work there started helping.
The quality of the 5x9 trailer I rented was far superior from the local Vista/Oceanside locals carriers. The trailer however was filled with dirt from t e previous renter that was not swept out, so I did it Not to mention the screw driver, neoprene glove, 3" c-clamp and three beer caps. All in all, the experience positive but I was hoping I would not have to clean up after the previous renter

Charges going North were ridiculously disproportionate to going south. Had to travel 30 minutes from requested pick up location for trailer. Lights were not checked and not working which required an additional hour of travel time to resolve. The staff was nice, but the overall experience was less than desirable.
I have rented here over the years and always a friendly staff and good service..
26 foot truck was a bit of a "beater". Has over 160,000 miles on it. Seems that transmission is going out. Time to retire it?
Denice and Brett (I think that was the young man's name helping in the parking lot) were great. Very helpful, personable and professional.
The lady who executed my transaction in the store was kind of rude, whereas the man outside at the drop-off station was on the ball and had everything ready for me when I showed up and it took less than a minute. He was very polite and all about service.
Customer service at front desk and in the equipment yard was excellent and fast. Thank you.

Handheld computer checking needs work.
The belt rollers on the appliance dolly i rented were very loose and did not roll very well. made my trip up the stairs difficult with heavy items. The trailer i rented was fine.

You could use some customer parking spots. Not sure where to park when I pull into the lot.
Drop off of the truck went smoothly.
We dropped off the car carrier trailer at this location. The staff was ready to help unload my car from the carrier. They pointed out that we did not have one of the chains attached correctly ( we had it hooked the way the uhaul representative at the pick up location showed us.)
uhaul website went down in the middle of my reservation. the staff at the location was responsive accommodating and pro-active.
Friendly, fast loading of trailers
All was good! Even the return, very effectiveness , of the checker in ER. Truck was a real smooth ride . Did shimmy a bit at 130 MPH....

Note the trailer was new making 2nd question in effect not applicable. Although I was called the day before pick up, I was in transit and unable to access internet. Therefore I did not know of the change of pick-up location until I showed up at the location I had indicated. It would have been more helpful if during the voice mail notification that it was emphasized that the originally requested location was not available and that it had been changed.
I have used this facility many times and have always had great service!
no place to park my car I only needed a rental for a few hours I had to park out on the street which did not feel safe and a lot of parking restrictions

The check out and return was very quick and easy. The employees were professional, courteous and friendly.
Your hidden fees suck! $20 rental tack on $80 because we drove it off the lot, add tax for a total of $111 and change. So much for a quick trip.
You can make sure that the trucks are in A1 condition. The 26 ft truck I rented on 3 Oct 2015 was awful. It had to be started twice once you turned it off. It kept acting like it would cut off while driving. It sounded like a big semi. The breaks made noise. I was afraid to go get gas because I kept thinking it would cut off. I was given a little discount but it wasn't worth the stress me and my teenage daughter went through. I shoudn't have been charged anything. I I found out that the day before this same truck had roadside assistance. This truck should've never been on the road. It should be retired. I was told that was the last truck. I had a reservation. The people were nice but that truck was shameful. Everytime I think about my moving experience, I get upset. I rented a truck last November and that experience was great. I don't want anyone else to go through what we did.

Van had a pervasive dog urine smell. You need to make sure your vehicles are clean.
Anything and everything you can imagine you'll need for your move is at this location. Giant facility with nice friendly customer service.
Windshield wipers don't stay on
Staff was very friendly and nice. I would recommend having the employee that rents you the truck make sure they advise you as to what time your truck has to be returned at exactly.... I had NO idea when my truck was supposed to be back at. Thanks Kristina Tirado
Even though at least five different customers were picking up or dropping off equipment at this location (with a very small parking lot), the staff quickly and efficiently worked through all customers in a timely and friendly manner.

The local Rey k I had was terrible. Bad transmission issues,shook bad ever time you tried to stop. As the truck downshifted you could
Feel it and it was loud. The box had years of scratches even repaired holes. Really hard to remove ramp. The attendant said it had ac but it didn't work and we had 90+ degree heat. This way a horrible vehicle. I feel ripped off even being charged for it. I drove 18 miles 15 of which were to and from the uhaul location
It was a little slow on the inside, but the guys outside were very prompt and courteous.

Make sure the equipment is maintained and ready for use. Truck was old and battery was dead. Did not feel safe in that truck.

I reserved a trailer in Encinitas and was notified the morning of the rental that it was changed to Oceanside which is 20 miles away in the wrong direction. Unfortunately I did not look at my email that morning, and my wife talked to the Oceanside Uhaul people- so I did not find out about the change until at the Encinitas location. Lots of wasted time.
Very dangerous, no where to park to load or unload.
I was given a 17' truck that needed an oil change less than 100 miles into a 1200 mile journey. It caused delays as I stopped to call Uhaul and buy more oil and worries as I was not sure it would make it.
The lady at front was very helpful and nice . I have rented from here 3 times

Everyone at this location was exceptionally nice, patient and helpful! This was our first long distance move and it was very stressful but the kindness of the folks at O'side made it a little bit less painful. Highly recommend!!!

Mentioned to the Uhaul representative that the ratcheting parts on the auto transport jammed up and also let go of the tire. I believe they are worn out or need lubrication. I'd replace them. Thanks
There is no customer parking in the lot, you need to park on the side street.
Just make sure to verify your mileage when you pick up.

I forgot to tell them that the rear view mirror on the drivers side door is loose and kept slipping down. --needs to be tightened.
Air conditioning and to be told when sent here from San Clemente store that this location had a truck then arrive to find its not there until 4pm no mention of that was made before I drove in bumper to bumper to Oceanside for over an hour otherwise as they know I probably would go elsewhere I felt decieved and didnt appreciate that one bit.

More staff. More people trained to use computers.
Look over the rental for any defects prior to renting. When asked if they had checked the trailer they (yard) replied yeah, once a year. The wheel bearings froze on the axle, spun, then froze destroying the axle. The resultant vibration and wheel hop almost dragged me into the next lane of traffic. Yes it was a local rental, but the wheel bearing didn't care when it froze.
Saw a homeless guy stealing the protective sheets from one of the trucks.

Very speedy drop off. I didn't have to do anything they took care of it all. Took less than 5 min and I was in my way.
Truck was not swept out when we received it. The attendant said we didnt need to check for damage, etc. because we had insurance. When we got home, we noticed a corner of the top right had been damaged and repaired with putty. also, insurance didnt cover us for damage from overhead objects, which was not clear when I signed up online.
Owner knows and recognized me so that I was able to have an excellent customer experience.
Gals working inside were simply awesome!
They were a bit shorthanded (there was a road block preventing an employee from getting to work). So, we had to wait in line quite a while to pick up our truck. Other than that, all employees were courteous, professional, and competent.
Everyone at this site was extremely helpful and pleasant, from first contact through the quick return process.
After a long drive and a long day of unpacking the people there made things fast and easy. Love it
I have rented from UHaul many times. This was the worst truck I've ever gotten, it had over 100Kmiles, interior was pretty grimy, bad suspension, transmission- hard, abrupt downshift at around 25-30miles. People at this rental location are nice, but the trucks need an overhaul for sure. I was told the others have even more miles on them, so I will probably rent from a different location in the future with hopefully better trucks.
1. Size truck I requested was not available, although I made reservations well in advance. Ended up needing to rent a trailer in addition to the truck.
2. Truck broke down en route creating scheduling problems.
3. The whole idea was to make the move less, expensive by during all the work myself. In the end I paid at least double of that of a moving company, plus had all the labor.
Two of the three computers available were not working, hence two of the three ladies that were there were not working. In turn putting the one lady that was working in a bad mood. I didn't understand the mileage fee and was giving us attitude because I didn't understand it. We left in hopes of finding another location with the truck that we wanted but it turned that they were the only ones to have one available at that time. I didn't want to get out of the car to deal with them so my husband went by himself. I would definitely not recommend this location to anybody.

Entry and egress difficult. suggest you have a map attached when returning vehicles and trailers. Stupid people don't know how to park nor equipment flow for returns.
Stay always friendly, nice, and keep rates low if possible.

Angela and company are always willing and are the epitome of customer service. original drop off location was at 835 n. santa fe road vista, ca (vista truck rental) is another location that has terrible customer service. The personnel at this location (barring two employees) have the worst attitude. when I showed up and gave them my contract showing that I was dropping off an auto transport, a female and a male were obviously not very happy that I showed up and told me that they are not accepting the trailer, their actions were like I made this huge error in selecting their location as drop off. So I asked for the coast hwy Oceanside location's phone number and that is when I spoke with Angela who was more than accommodating and gave the most outstanding customer service.
The Oceanside lot is very small and confining. A bigger lot would help especially when there are several returns. You may want to extend your hours on weekends till 7pm to avoid charging the customer another day because your store closes at 5pm

The truck was very hard to drive at times. For the first 2 hours and the last 2 hours of my trip it felt like I was holding on to a bucking bronco. I was tense and in pain from the truck. I was also told my gas would be paid for for the first leg of the trip at $170. Gas actually cost me $200.
There is a disconnect between roadside assistance and rental. I was within a mile of returning the rental vehicle when the steering and braking hoses failed. Luckily I was able to pull into a garage, which by the way rented UHaul trucks.
I was told R.A. would reach me in 75 minutes. They were late. I got a phone call from the RA desk asking if RA was there yet at doubt 80 minutes. RA called 2 minutes later saying there was a traffic jam and they would be another 15-20 minutes. 20 minutes later I got a phone call from the rental desk asking why the rental hadn't been returned. I told them because the rental was undrivable and I was waiting for RA. Why didn't it occur to rental to send someone to help me (offer me a ride of some sort) a mile away or think of some solution until I was late returning the rental?
I will never use UHaul again unless there is no other possible rental choice. I will tell anyone who's thinking of renting from UHaul my experience.
An improvement suggestion. UHaul figure it out. When someone is calling to rental for RA, don't just point them to RA. Go a little further and make sure they are okay. A mile away? Good bye, UHaul. UHaul U are not so good.
Terrible customer service from the manager. Truck was broken in many ways. Had a terrible experience. I am filing a complaint for lost time and money Terrible does not begin to describe my experience with U-haul.
I rent from Uhaul on a regular basis and sometimes the vehicles are clean and sometimes they are dirty (both interior and exterior).
I don't expect the exterior to be clean but I do expect the interior to be clean.
I don't want to complain but I feel it's important that these standards are met consistently.

Location is too small for the volume of rental activity. Staff did the best they could but it was extremely difficult for them to get trucks to position for customer to exit the lot. This is just an observation. I wasn't in a hurry and staff was competent and polite.

Lower the fee's associated with moving in town
The kids working in the parking lot were VERY rude and should never be put in a customer facing position.
The parking situation is abysmal, and there were just random trucks parked all over the parking lot blocking entries and exit ways.
The woman we dealt with at the front desk was very polite and helpful, and QUICK. Which is important. But something needs to be done about those horrible young boys yelling at customers in the parking lot. Get them off their power trip.
Staff were all assholes, location was filthy, and was extremely poorly organized.

Everything went wrong. But the most troublesome thing was that most U Haul staff don`t know a thing about U-box rentals which made customer service a nightmare.
All in all, the box was fine. The ability of your corporation, systems, and personnel was not sufficient to make me willing to try it again or recommend to anyone. last Uhaul.
This is my 2nd time using this service. The moving help guys saved your bacon! On EVERY occasion U-Haul is disorganized unprepared.

I was never notified of the storage boxes after arrival. Staff was rude and I was charged with no receipt or call. Horrible service.

Misled on how long it would take to get our U-Boxes on the road. Was quoted 24 hrs and that has turned into four days without a solid answer. Our belongings held hostage we are at the mercy of Uhaul.

In correct Box was delivered late, which caused issues with the hired movers labor schedule. fees were credited back, but made for a long afternoon.
After a 4 month horror story with U-Haul my things arrived in O`Side. The staff was so helpful and made the end of the journey easier. They were wonderful. I only wish all of U-Haul was as good.

I used 3 boxes to move from SC to CA. They were delivered within 10 bus days. I picked up each box from the local U-haul and drove it home, this way I saved $225. I will definitely use U-box again.

My box was delivered 3 days after it was confirmed, without padding, and it took two days after arriving to hear that it will take 10 days to deliver from LOCAL storage location. This is inexcusable.

Should have 2 people at the counter as there always seems to be a line when I have been to the facility.
A computer glitch when I was at the counter trying to complete the paperwork caused me to wait for 45 mins. There were a number of people waiting behind me as well. Systems need upgrading.

U-Box is so new that most of the employees don`t know how to set it up. It took over 2 hours to rent the U-Box. It took several calls to find someone to help set up the U-Box.
Staff didnt really seem personable. Didnt ask how we were upon entering the premises. No hello or how are you. Just what can I do for you.
Sometimes the hours for access were a problem, but I understand storage has to be the same as store hours.
