This was my best renting experience ever. I booked the appointment with one employee. Picked up the rental from another employee and dropped it off with a third employee. They were all very polite and professional. This is the location I will be going to for now on.

I was told there was over 1/4 tank of gas. When getting in there was in fact less than 1/8 of a tank with the low fuel light on with 34 miles to empty displayed. It is my opinion that ALL trucks should be fully fueled at pick up. I was meeting a moving crew and I was late because I HAD to get gas first. This was a huge inconvenience. The manager there is GREAT! I love the location.

And i continued to tell her thats what my uhaul app told me to do. She looked for any info in their system saying I was getting a refund and could not find it. I said will it just go back on my card and she oh yaa your right. But why didnt she know the answer to that? I have been to this store multiple times in the last few months since i am selling my home and everytime I go, it is a mission to check out easily. In my opinion all of the staff needs to be trained better and trained about U boxes, they lack information customers need to know. I did not know I ONLY pay the day I am moving stuff into it, I thought once i paid no matter if i put atuff in it that day or next week it was mine but I found out the hard way. When i called to ask them to have it accessible for me on the next day, they said i did nit have one rented when i clearly rented one earlier in the month but didnt know i had to fill it that day. Also only one employee told me about buying/using a circular lock because people come and clip any other type of lock and steal your stuff, which blew my mind. Not sure if this happens at all uhaul locations or just the north smithfield location.

Angela HWhen I picked up the truck it smelt profusely of marijauna. When I shared this with the GM he was not concerned but offered to get me a truck from another location. Due to timing I was not able to wait for another truck. The smell was so strong I was sick. I had to drive this truck with windows down the entire time using it. It was 40 degrees. When I returned the GM did NOTHING to show remorse for the situation. Horrible customer service and if this is how the GM handles things I will never use Uhaul again!

Brian HTook over 45 minutes to rent the tailor with only one customer ahead of me making a reservation. The rv I was given was decently clean, And had new tires. But shortly into our two hour drive I realized the car seemed to be working harder than usual and my mileage was horrible. After a quick look around. I could also hear the trailer grinding. I have two thoughts, one is wheel bearing. And two would be shot pads. Either repair should have been cough while replacing all four tires. I'm not happy and this equipment should not be rented again until fixed.

But yes I do appreciate what you did for us the woman lost her daughter and we helped her out and that was the most important thing put a smile on not really a smile but we helped her out. Above average does not mean you didn't do a good job. Service was good. Have a nice day.

Megan PTruck needs brakes, wipers and the doors both have a 1/2 inch gap at the top. Manager is rude and slow and I had to wait at the desk because he was working on his jeep in the shop.

Rented a truck for 19.95 and that fiasco ended up costing me 107.32. What happend to a 19.95 rental for a few hours with a refunded deposit?? Completely outrageous.

DAVID NI’m reading this location poor because they delivered my UB actually a day ahead as I requested which was wonderful everyone I spoke with was wonderful but when I went to unload my UB there was a bolt it had been bolted shut, and being a recent widow I had no way of opening it I could not undo it. It was way too strong for me. I put in two calls to the driver right away, and he never responded, fortunately I got someone to take the bolt out for me and I was able to unload the UB box so I write this location poor

I received updates when the box was being delivered, every time the box moved from state to state & when it was going to be delivered to the final destination. Bruce LRental of the 10 foot Truck was successful. Available as scheduled and quickly got the contract set up. Truck only had one minor issue, the drivers door was difficult to fully close.

Imelda L | First ImpressionsThe ONLY issue I had was the following: Uhaul indicated the milage was 9811, which was correct and the gas gauge indicated it was full. I only drove the vehicle 12 miles TOTAL. I re-filled on the way to the Uhaul location - after only total 8 miles, the other 4 miles was from Gas station to Uhaul. It took 4 Gallons of gas. The vehicle was only used for those few miles because I had to change plans - you can see I rented another van for this weekend. I am sorry there is NO way that van gets 2 miles to the gallon. The only thing I can think of it that the needle on the gauge is inaccurate. Of note: I stopped at a full service only gas station and I have the receipt. My question is, how is that possible?

Letitia GSet the tire pressure to proper specs. Getting the truck home 1 tire went totally flat the 3rd party uhaul mait team changed the tire and said all the tires were low below 30 psi. Mobil maintenance guys seller job truck drove perfect after them.
Tim CThe storage room I had was a room inside the giant warehouse type building, which is definitely a plus because you were totally out of the elements while accessing the storage unit. The building is not heated but it never got too low or too high a temperature which was also a plus. The manager of this facility was also vey friendly and helpful when needed. The only negative was that I am tall, 6’2” and I could not stand totally upright within the unit and I actually hit my head on the sprinkler head, located on the ceiling while I was there once. So, if you are tall, be very careful that you don’t hit your head. There are also convenient parking areas that are at different heights to the loading doc, based on the vehicle you are driving. We used carts (like at Home Depot) to transfer our things.

The unit was very clean, exactly as described online. I reserved the unit online and my reservation was waiting when I arrived on the date picked for move in. Would recommend U-Haul for anyone looking for storage. Prices very reasonable compared to other storage companies. Would highly recommend.

Dana BYesterday i rented a uhaul and it was raining, the employer told me i had to walk all the way back to where the bushes r to pick up my truck. He didnt want to get wet. Im a 60 year old lady with disability. Ive been renting from them for many years, and this was a first. I wont be renting from them anymore nor ill recommend that location. This is the uhaul on 146 dowling highway

norman T | First ImpressionsAfter some confusion, the N. Smithfield agent pivoted quickly and made the situation better than expected. I had called earlier in the week and was told the unit was on the ground floor. I asked the person to verify three times because I was told prior it was on the second floor and only a 5x10 unit was available on the first floor. Upon arrival, we were correctly informed the unit was on the mezzanine up 10 steps. No good, especially considering we were storing an upright piano (500 lbs.) Next issue: I had ordered the 5x8 trailer from the N Smithfield location for expediency purposes, then it got unilaterally changed to Cumberland. This added an extra 90 minutes to/fro twice of waste. As you probably know, wasting time on a moving day is not a good thing. Thankfully the person at Cumberland and N. Smithfield were very kind, polite and professional. If they had been disasters, the rating would have been POOR mainly due to the jerking around of reservations and conveyance of inaccurate information leading to undue stress. However, the EXCELLENT onsite agents saved the rating and greatly reduced the stressful situation. U-Haul REALLY needs to get the people with COMMON SENSE and CUSTOMER ORIENTATION on the phone and within reservations. Eventually more and more customers will realize there are other options with equivalent or less induced stress. This type of silliness undermines the U-Haul trade mark. Ultimately the behavior will lead to a Hertz-like business collapse. The customer interface must be crisp on all fronts to be long term successful. Best regards.
