Tellers at the desk in back of store give too much information to process in short time, try to present in high level summary and ask what we would like elaborated. Also, not good having the tellers in the back of the shop, gives a claustrophobic feeling. Move tellers to a more open area.

Everyone who waited on me was fantastic. I really couldn't have asked for better service. The several young people who helped me were professional. Very pleasant. I really believe they should be commended. They are a credit to that Uhaul centre. My daughter also used the same one and had the same great service earlier this week.

When I called to reserve the cube van I asked for a 6 day rental and was not told anything different. When I was picking the rental up I was told I only had a I day rental. The clerk managed to get me a truck for 2 days but I needed one for a week. Is this the way they phone centre is told to do business? His English was pretty broken so maybe have the person answering the phones speak clearly

this location has poor customer service and alot of improvement needed.You can 1st begin with the general manager not ignoring the customer's calls to correct a problem that UHAUL created at pick up day for the customer.Will not rent again with UHAUL and will not recommend them to any one!

How to improve services for the next customer: not sure you can make the service experience better. I'm not a fan of the call centre communication system...might be better if staff at the Dartmouth site was increased so that customers could communicate directly...but once I had the appointments I needed, the experience was excellent. I visited your location twice. The first time was to have the hitch and wiring installed (Aug. 15). The second was to have a brake controller installed (Aug. 26). Both times, I was struck by the way staff work with each other. They are patient, reasonable and kind. Seems to be a very healthy team with fabulous work ethics. On my second visit, I was completely blown away by the service. Tommy O'Hearn went WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND what he needed to do, all in the interest of providing GREAT customer service. I had purchased a brake controller during my first visit. Before installing it, Tommy checked in with me to let me know that cheaper brake controllers were available. I explained to him why I chose the Prodigy P2, and he was fine with it...it was incredibly kind to let me know that were less costly options...reminded me of the movie Miracle on 34th Street. Anyway, Mr. O'Hearn finished the installation and another staff member came up to the waiting room to let me know the truck was ready. When I went outside to go into the office, I noticed that the exhaust pipe was hanging down...a joint had let go. I asked Tommy what happened and he told me he had noticed it when the truck was on the ramps and had meant to check it. I asked him if he would be able to wire it up so I could get it home...I live an hour away. The long and the short: Mr. O'Hearn put the truck on the ramp, REPAIRED the break and didn't charge me a dime. I'm pretty sure this was at (or maybe beyond) the end of his work day...I couldn't believe it...I just about burst into tears because I felt so grateful to Tommy for going out of his way like that. If I had had to drive home with the exhaust wired up in rush hour traffic, it would have been nerve wracking. The truck is a 2008, but new to me...I've only put about 200 clicks on it, so I'm just getting used to it...it is living in a salty maritime environment...the stud holding the pipe together had died a natural death. Kudos to all the staff at the Dartmouth location, and an extra shout out to Tommy O'Hearn. Thank you, sir. May your kindness and generosity come back to you and yours a million fold.

- Had to ask to have the trailer cleaned. - The safety chains were twisted up to shorten them but they started to hit the road and I had to adjust them. The chains should be shortened by attaching excess chain to the sides of the tongue. There are hooks welded to the sides of the tongue intended to hold the excess chain. - The third breakaway chain was not attached. - The H-Haul videos are useful but lacking in some areas like how to swing in close to a drive way and then out so the trailer is positioned where it can be backed into a driveway.

A twenty person line up is a little ridiculous. I had to wait about forty minutes, amongst plenty of angry customers, before I got my truck. Aside from that the service was satisfactory. Truck was clean and had no problems doing my move.

There was sticky soda or something spilled on the seats when we got the truck. The tow dolly towing the car didn't feel safe because when I went to brake the truck had a hard time slowing down. I wish they would have told me about this. The passenger side wiper needs replacing.

Everyone we met was nice and helpful. Although the lady we were talking to on the phone gave us the wrong address and sent us to the U-Store it when we ranted a van - not storage. At first we thought it was us but when we looked at the email later we noticed it was the wrong address on there as well.

Booking and pick-up was a breeze. However we returned the truck after hours. The following morning we received a phone message stating we hadn't returned the key with the truck, and that they were considering the truck "un-returned." When I called the number left by the U-Haul employee, it was a central phone line, who could tell me nothing about the situation except that the computer said the truck wasn't returned. When I asked for the local office number, she said she couldn't give it to me but would send them a message for them to call me. We waited around for 3/4 of the day and no one called. A day later I received an email receipt. So can I assume they found the key we returned to their dropbox? A follow-up, courtesy phone call would have made all the difference.

My initial drop-off location was at 363 Caldwell Dr., Cole Harbour. The business posted hours of business stated Sunday opening at 10am. I arrived at 9:45 and waited until 10:20am which was a waste of my valuable time considering we were in the middle of a house move and I had lots of important things to do. I called your customer service and was told to leav eth keys in the vehicle without locking it. I was uncomfortable with this suggestion considering the fact that the vehicle was my responsibility until I sign it back to you and there was no proof that I actually dropped it off. Instead, I chose to take the option of returning it to another location. This meant instead of me dropping off at the scheduled time of 10am, I wasted an entire hour of my off-time trying to return this vehicle. I have used U-Haul several times in the past and this is the only time I have had a problem. Your customer service reps were extremely polite and professional, so I do not fault U-Haul at all. However, I believe you should consider addressing the the issue of the reliability of your Cole Harbour, NS dealer. It is unacceptable to waste a customer's time in this manner. Otherwise, I thank you very much for a hassle free rental which I consider a very good value for money spent.

I was originally supposed to pick it up at a non-uhaul location, but do to your archaic computer system and not being able to do it manually, I was referred to this location after a phone call was made. I was upgraded to a truck from a van at the same cost. This did not happen as I was charged the .69/km instead of the .39.

Reservation was incorrectly entered, therefore I did not get the trailer size I requested. Customer service agents were rude and unsympathetic. I would never use Uhaul again if I could find a different option to rent a trailer. They gave me a smaller trailer and charged me the same price. They even tried to charge me for an extra day until I noticed the payment amount did not seem right.

East Indian Employee at service counter was very rude and embarrassed me in front of other people.Was charged for insurance that I had originally refused and discrepancy with milage... Customer service was very poor.

They need to meet the customer outside or just inside the store to let them know they need to get there trailer hooked up before they wait in line at the front counter to be told that. Also move all of the shelves from the front counter area so you can see when the next clerk is available. Store is junky looking. All of the staff was friendly and well experienced. I would defiantly recommend them. The rest of my experience was very good.

It's unfortunate that "bike trailers" are not available for one-way rentals. Forced to rent a larger trailer when a small bike hauler would have worked much better.

Trailer blew a tire could not even tow my car. Wasted my money and now have to call a tow truck to spend even more. No spare tire had to sit on the side of the road until 3am in the morning. Not very good. Would like my money refunded.

We had hoped to use our rented truck for 24 hours. We were picking up a piece of furniture very close to the UHaul location in Burnside. Turns out the furniture was damaged at the warehouse and we had nothing to pick up. We returned the vehicle within two hours to UHaul. We had driven a grand total of 5 kms. Because the gas gauge had dropped below 1/2 UHaul charged us $17.28 for the gas used to travel 5 kms. That is way too expensive in my view.

On Pick up there were no protective blankets available!!! I had ordered 3 dozen with the truck rental. Without these damage to furniture was going to be a problem. This is a BIG issue for me. I was forced to make alternate arrangements which cost me $$$. Not good service. The truck had no air coming from vents for air-conditioning, it only would come from foot vents. This made it very hot in the cab. Not what I expected and unfortunately I did not notice until loaded. Window wash was empty, which was minor but should have been serviced.

Staff was great, truck was ready and it was clean. The AC didn't work too well so I reported that. The drop off was simple, they checked the truck, verified the mileage & gas gauge and emailed me the receipt, I was in & out in less than 5 minutes.

It ended up being about $70 for a truck I only needed for about 1 hour. Should be an option to rent one on a flat rate without all the km/hr charges to make it easier to rent.

I return the truck with half full tank but I received the truck with quarter tank full. There was no rebate given on excessive fuel. The extra packing material bought at Hasty Market, Maple ON was not returned at 460 Dartmouth NS as it was not found in their U-Haul Computer System. U-Haul agent promised to give credit for Truck Pick-up location far away from 215 Highglen Ave, Markham ON.

Having to standin line for 10 minutes only to be told to get the trailer hooked up first and then come back to do the paperwork was frustrating (I had a reservation and did the e-check in online prior to arriving)...just a process that should be streamlined...great staff and equipment.

We booked a 24 hour rental and then at pick-up, our rental document reflected 21 hours. The clerk did not specifically warn us that we had to have the vehicle back earlier than our "guaranteed" booking indicated: we noticed on our own. When we questioned staff about it, they said they booked someone else to pick up the truck for that time, and we would be charged for a second day if we didn't get it back by then. It made the already stressful moving experience doubly so to have to adjust our schedule with no warning. The staff were completely unapologetic and treated us like we were stupid to have assumed UHaul would honour our "guaranteed" booking even though it was the busy time of the month. Apparently I have misunderstood the word guarantee all this time. Perusing the Google reviews of this particular UHaul location indicates this less-than-24-hour-24-hour-booking is standard practice at this location.

I was supposed to pick up and drop off locally....due to someone elses mistake, i was made to pay for the higher rental + my own gas to go pick up my rental 100km away. Poor service if you ask me. I was, for lack of a better word, punished for someone elses mistake. A phone call will be made....believe that.

Reservation was for 7am, I arrived on time, however due to the mega line up, even though the two clerks were processing as fast as possible, it was 8am before we were through the line, and in the truck. I lost an hour of my moving day. Rental time should be from when you actually get to leave.

Everything was fine until I was charged $8.46 for exceeding the allowed mileage by 18 miles or so. It`s not the amount, but the fact it was petty and penny pinching on the part of Uhaul. Funny I did not get a credit for bringing the truck back early . . . .

It was a busy rental time. At one point, we were told there was a truck available if we went right over to pick it up. After paying for a taxi to take us there, we were told someone else was getting it. IT WAS A BAD EXPERIENCE!!

I had made reservation (confirmed) for a 26" truck & 12 moving pads on 27 may through a Uhaul representative. This reservation had been confirmed, however a week before the moved, I received a phone call informing me that I was not able to have a 26" and the only truck available was a 9" cube van!!! After couples call, I was able to obtain a 15" truck. Still not the 26" requested and confirmed...The gentlemen on the phone was very accommodating, however when I pick up the truck I could only get 6 blankets. I was under the impression that reserving that far ahead (2 months) would guarantee me a 26" truck, especially after it was confirmed. Perhaps the term "confirmed" should be removed from your contract and replaced with "order acknowledged" as not to confuse people.

tried to change location of truck pick up but this proved impossible. Your phone system is terrible, as I was re-cycled through your phone message then placed on hold then given your message repeatedly until it hung up on me. This wasn't the local company but US Scheduling.

We have rented a 17' truck on two separate occasions in the last 3 weeks. Both times the mileage prior to taking truck was incorrectly recorded. First time was due to sloppy printing of the mileage, which put us at driving 500 kms more than we did. However, the mistake was corrected when they realized we had only had the truck for a couple hours. As for today's rental, this location's computers were down, which we understand happens and that was fine. But, our contract couldn't be printed due to this, and we were given a piece of scrap paper in its place with a truck number, the mileage and the word "full" for the gas level. I was then asked to sign it and the rep initialled it. That was it. This concerned me because, due to a major Uhaul booking error for this truck (different problem), we were to receive a discount on today's truck rental and a discount on the mileage charge. There was nothing written on this scrap paper about any of those details. I was assured that it was in my contract and all was correct and basically not to worry. A very nice worker then brought the truck over. When he went to double check the mileage before we took the truck, he noticed an error on our scrap paper. The mileage was off by 50 miles, at our expense. He changed it, initialled it and I thanked him for noting this error. When we returned truck this afternoon, the computers were back up. When I was given total price I said it was much too high. Upon checking they had not given us the truck discount or the mileage discount, and we were being charged for the extra incorrectly recorded mileage. Still do not understand how this happened because the discount amounts were definitely included in our original booking email received from Uhaul. In any event, if I were not paying attention to details, we would have paid Uhaul $198 today instead of $118.

The only complaint I have is I was a senior moving into a seniors home the location I had to have the truck picked up was 40 minutes away I was hoping to pick a truck up in the location of where I lived I have no car so I had to rent a car to pick up the keys 40 minutes out of my way seniors should have it easy but I was tired after this move.

Equipment was top notch. One think I would recommend, long distance trip should be provided with a vehicle equipped with cruise control. Hard to keep steady speed and risk speeding and getting fines. Otherwise I was very satisfied with the equipment.

There's a huge disconnect between your website and your locations. I asked for a truck in Grand Falls- Windsor and was told I had to go to Botwood. This was an inconvenience on my part that should not have happened. And upon arrival at the storage facility in Dartmouth, NS, they had no record of the unit I had requested on your website. Ended up with a smaller unit then I originally wanted because I wanted a climate controlled room. Thankfully my parents were able to store some of my belongings for me. Not satisfied with my experience and will be advising others of the pitfalls of your website.

Drop off of vehicle was very easy and fast. Not accurate billing as I was charged for an extra dolly that was not provided. Not all the blankets I ordered where provided and on check in the site was very busy and unorganized. They checked me out for one vehicle and when I got outside they changed me to a different vehicle and than changed my ordered equipment over which is likely where the confusion was. Overall I was not happy with the service but as the charge was only $5 for the extra dolly it was not worth my time or effort to go back and correct the charge.

Uhaul knew about damage to the truck and did not inform me. The employee at the desk was misleading and had me sign something accepting the possibility of water damage to my property because of the damage. When I got to my location my boxes were sitting in a puddle of water. Very unhappy about the manner in which they hid this information from me.

First explain your policys better. Maybe have the store so a person in a wheelchair dosent need to go around moving things to get to the front desk. Possibly have people at the desk who are friendly and don't act like your an inconvenience to them. Also how is a person supposed to know to they exact km how far it is to there new place. I brought the truck back with abit more fuel then it had in it and was told rudely that I owed them more money which I paided.Now this took place in the parking lot because I didn't want to have to take my wheelchair back threw the store so the guy made it seem like a huge deal that he had to go get change. I even had the truck back long before I had to I only kept it four hours. And I laugh at the sign on the front door about helping people with disabilities im in a wheelchair and if i had not of had people with me I never would of made it to the front desk not one person and there were quite a few asked me if I needed a hand. Now I understand why U-Haul is rated one of the worst truck rental dealers which I was unaware of until I looked it up after my experience. I would never recommend U-Haul to any family or friends especially disabled ones like myself. It ended up costing me almost $140 for four hours and 74km. That's crazy so I won't be back and im not sure if these surveys even get read I will probably just get an automated response.

It's amusing just watching how much each rental client seemed like a pain the a__to everyone working the counter. Sales tactics quite entertaining in trying to sell the idea of taking a truck 10ft longer then my original booking. Makes sense to the robots working the counter. Force me to take an old 26'' slug they weren't paying to fuel or having to drive in the tight quarters . Simple suggestion: When you confirm a booking, honor it. Especially when four of the trucks sitting outside your shop are the size of the one I booked. Thanks for the platform. Have a great day

1.When renting your product from a non direct uhaul location there should be standards/expectations set by your company. The first location we went to was in experience and frankly disgusting. Yet they are representing your product. 2. When asking if a customer wants to rent a dolly, it would be a great time to mention the truck (10ft) your renting does not have a dolly ramp. 3. When dealing with your team over the phone that agrees to a customized rate, that should translate directly to the rep in store. I don't have to move often, but next time I will be using a different rental truck company. And I will be sharing the customer service I received under the name of "UHAUL"

The man who helped us was great and friendly but generally I find the prices expensive. It's advertised as $20-$30 for a larger truck (enough to move an apartment) but when you factor in the insurance (which you advise we take and most people do) and replenishing the gas plus also the extra fee for every km, it ends up closer to $70-100. Mine was $70 luckily because we didn't have far to go but I pitied people who had a big move ahead, the rates are just outrageous.

I requested a truck with a ramp capable of loading a ride-on lawnmower. The ramp was just over 2 feet wide so the call centre person has obviously never seen a lawn mower before. Also was required to pay extra for gas. For some reason the volume of gas required for every 1/8th of a tank is variable - not sure how the math works on that

This comment is for improvements needed for booking over the phone to your call agents. You all need to the know time zone of your customer because it is misleading to say you are open until 7pm and your customer representatives or call agents act like they are at your nearest Uhaul location and will wait for you when you say that you are on your way to pick up a truck. Additionally, call agents would say that there is nothing available when I booked it online after getting off the phone with them and there was something available. Please cancel your booking over the phone service because it is not as efficient as booking online.

Initially my booking turned out to be bogus as there there wasn't actually a truck at Metro in Halifax. Another location I tried to book said it was available online, but I was told over the phone the location was out of business. Then I was re-booked to way way out in Cole Harbour. Finally I downgraded to a van thru the 460 Windmill Road location and things turned out well.

We reserved a 15 foot truck online. We were called a couple days later and told that the only on available in the entire city was at 6:30 pm. So a few more days go by and we got a call saying there was a van available. We took it because we needed something! Now, at 1pm (a couple hours after taking the van) I drive by the uhaul store and saw 9 -Yes 9- uhaul trucks. All available. And I had to use a dinky van. It took 2 days!!! It would've been just two trips in the truck. Oh and there was no compensation for not having the truck that I had booked. Very disappointed

Just as we were finishing to unload the truck, I called the location to ask at what time they closed. The lady said 7:00pm. I knew that I would probably be able to return the truck at about 7:05 and asked if there would still be someone there as I would be about only 5 minutes late. She replied (somewhat in a dry tone), that they would close at 7:00pm and that I could leave the truck in front of the store and place the keys in the drop box. I again stated that I would be only 5 minutes late and she said they would not wait for me. I was there at 7:04pm. and there was nobody there. I consider this very bad Customer service.

We "reserved " a storage room, called to confirm from the road (took six tries to get through to anyone) then when we arrived (again, an hour later) they had no room for us. They were unapologetic and said that they gave away our room. They offered a room half the size of the one we had booked so we had to try and squeeze our stuff into that one. The next day when we dropped off the truck I saw they were advertising storage available and sudden there were three interior rooms free. Yeah, this is less than twelve hours later. Worst customer service experience I have ever had. The Google review for this location are all awful and I wish we had read them more carefully. Asked for the manager to call is and guess what? He never did. Last time we use u haul.

I booked and paid for the rental well in advance,when I went in to pick it up I was told they didn't have it ,it was rernted out to someone else,after refusing to take a float instead they reculantly pulled one out of some wherethis truck was for a Kinsmen function,and had to be a spific truck,and on the day it was booked for.This is the second year that we had a problem with U-haul.

We filled the vehicle back to the designed mark. The attendant who looked at the pit the mark less then an 1/8 below where it should been. When I pulled in. It was at the 1/2 tank mark where it should've been. They let it run and then said I owed for not being where it should've been. They said I could go out more fuel in. But then id be charged for the Kms and the late fee. I have more to complaints. But I would like to have some one call me Thank you

I made a reservation weeks prior to moving, when I arived they didn't have the truck I ordered.. they tried to give me the size down a couple of time even though we said it wouldn't work.. after a lot of discussion between 2 employee we got even the larger Truck. I don't mind that we ended up with the other truck but it was how it was all handled. I was there on time and made a reservation, one would think you would have enough trucks for what you sell.

You need to have a friendly and courteous staff. I ordered a 20 ft uhall, when I went to pick it up I was told there wasn't any available so they were giving me a 26 ft which was too long for our driveway so they ended up giving me a 17 ft and told me it was due back at 10:30 which he repeated several times,he said someone else was renting it the next day.So the next day I get a call from one of your rude employees saying where is the truck we need it back.I told him we were on our way this was about 9:20, and I told him we had it rented until 10:30, he says well we need it back now and hangs up didn't even say good bye.I complained when I got there and told them I was putting in a complaint to the manager.That's the worst customer service I've ever experienced. This was at your Windmill rd location. I did look at receipt later that day after I returned the truck and it did say due back by 9:30 but I was going by what I was told which was 10:30.

Was told to fill the truck up with fuel even though it wasn't full when I got it. 45 km and cost me 93.00 in fuel. In acceptable and will never rent from yas again. And I will make sure friends and family do not also. And my work place with 3000 employees.

Good experience except for two things: 1. The wait due to lack of staff was very long. 2. It was stressed to me that I had to bring the truck with a full tank of gas. The man that checked the trucked indicated on my contract that the tank wasn't showing full, then told me to just bring it back at the same level. I didn't realize at that time that I shouldn't fill up the truck, so I did that prior to returning it. I traveled 13 miles total, and filled it up at a cost of $23.00. The gauge now indicated full. I was denied a refund on the extra gas spent. Staff were very good all around.

The truck was a scary experience to drive as the steering wheel shook violently at times while in motion, I wondered if we were going to make it to our destination. Customer treatment was polite and courteous. The truck was not delivered to the location that we agreed on however a remedy was satisfactorily reached. Would I rent from U haul again, yes, but minor improvements need to be made with clarity in information that staff take when it comes to customers.

The wait times when picking up the truck were not acceptable. We were scheduled to pick our truck up at 9:00am, and arrived at that time, but had to wait because there were only two representatives working at the counter at that time and the location was very busy. We did not end up actually getting our truck until 9:30 which cut into the time we had to actually use the truck, I would suggest that there are more representatives working on the counter if it is known that there will be that many customers coming to pick up trucks. I realize that there are times when it is busier than anticipated, but planning in advanced for extra personnel to be working based on the number of scheduled pick ups you have for a certain day would greatly help your staff be more efficient. Aside from that I would also suggest that you have your counter staff go through some sort of training in regards to customer service standards, none of the staff were very welcoming and seemed very unhappy about even being at work. They were polite but they lacked personality and a happy demeanor. Which did not make the overall experience very enjoyable. I would not recommend your service or location to anyone, and in fact in the future I may choose to use an entirely different company altogether.

There isn't a lot of room in the lot if there are a glare people picking up or dropping off vehicles. I think maybe better designated areas for customer picking up or dropping off vehicles would be an asset, even if it's just signage at the driveways to direct to the appropriate area.

When booking on line, received a call next day when we were supposed to pick up that what we ordered on-line wasn't available. We asked to drop off at 4:00 and told we had to have it back by 7:00 am which was not reasonable. We were able to get it dropped off by 11:00 and then when my husband pick the truck up they said we could bring it back at 4. Then got a call at 11:00 saying it was due back at 11:00. Miscommunication all around.

6x12 trailer (open) was not available when expected. Had to wait over 2 hours while another unit drove down from Amherst Would like 6x12 open trailer available in Kingston as Dartmouth over 2 hours away from location I need. Internet booking originally showed available from Windsor (1hr away from desired location)

The company business is to attend the demand of the services of moving and renting units to the public whom request the services, Is is unbelievable that in that location on Saturday morning only 2 attendant to service more than 20 costumer waiting to get to the desk clerk and spend more than 30min before to get some help, the time on Sat is very important for every thing and for every body, and to be delayed and that morning for that very poor services from the management point of view is a shame for the company public profile

Was terribly busy when I dropped off. Would help all customers and the store if the store were to discourage very strongly people from paying with anything but credit card if dropping off at such a busy time - gets drop off customers out of the busy line up.

It would be nice if the truck was filled up to "at least" the first click of the gas nozzle upon pickup. I drove 13kms with it, but somehow had to throw in $16 worth of gas (first click) to fill it before I returned it to you guys. Not sure how you can police this, but had I returned it without filling up, the next guy/gal would have paid an extra $16 on top of the gas they would use, as it was still showing right around full before I filled it. I'm pretty sure that it does not burn over a litre of gas per km.

I've rented many truck from that location and some women they call "manager" was very rude I put in 25$ in gas to drive 15 miles I told her something g was wrong and her response was I'm 99% sure their is nothing wrong with you unit come to find out that the 1% chance was the gas needle was not working properly then had the nerve to tell me she couldn't refund the gas I put in because gas is not their issue, well that was not good customer service I would never recommend that location to anyone but I would always recommend u- haul as a company

Shut down your business...This was my worst UHaul experience ever. The location got me my truck but it was all the events leading up to my pickup date that was unacceptable. When I first booked I was given misleading information and caused me to change my plans a week before my departure. I had to get my spouse to quit her job because of wrong information Uhaul gave me. I wasn't able to get a car hauler which forced me to get a second driver for the trip. My "guaranteed" pick up time and location was unable to provide any vehicle at all. More so they didn't care at all and told me Uhaul's guarantee is not worth the paper it's written on and not their problem, great affiliates you have. I was forced to drive 200km round trip to another city to get my truck because even with "guarantee" they couldn't get me a truck delivered while my stuff was on front yard, adding mileage and extra gas cost not to mention waste of loading time, postponing my leave time and extra cost for the help, which I had to cancel and reschedule for the next day. My "guaranteed" truck was nowhere in the province and had to upsize costing me more money in gas. Luckily I am a commercial vehicle driver and inspected before leaving the center: they had not even topped off the oil, it needed a pint. I was told it had been serviced which is a blatant lie. I convinced them to add oil but they only put half a pint and said just get the receipts and they will reimburse you at the other end. All in all this will be the last time I deal with Uhaul and will tell everyone I know to not use you guys, pay a mover it will be cheaper and less of a headache. Uhaul cost me lost wages for my spouse, extra gas for the upsized vehicle, extra gas for my vehicle that had to be driven, wear and tear on my vehicle that should have been towed. I'm about 3500$ out of pocket extra's and that will depend how long it takes my spouse to get another job. So I wish to not thank you for making this move my worst experience ever but I am thankful to have learned that YOU have no care for your customers and YOU know we are backed against a wall and use that to YOUR advantage. AS usual the service at Windmill Rd was great . Only thing I could suggest is a special counter person dealing only with those who have booked a truck in advance , Why book a truck on line if you have to wait in line for 1/2 hour with those who did not book ? Also, perhaps a separate line for vehicle returns

When a truck is already register online, there should be a separate lineup for quicker service. I had to wait in a long lineup to receive my keys. It wasted time on my hourly time. Ex: truck reserved for 10 - 2, you lose at least 15-20 minutes because the drop in people and the reserved people are in the same lineup. Otherthan that the service was great. Thank you, Anne Evans

U-Haul is the WORST company I have EVER had to deal with. It took 7 long phone conversations to finally get a truck of the right size that I was permitted to pick up and drop off at the same location, followed by an e-mail that reflected the arrangements actually made during the calls. They kept demanding that I pick my rental up in one place 70 miles away and drive it to another place 20 miles from that again, for return. They absolutely REFUSED to make the size truck I required available at my local U-Haul dealer, 5 miles away from me. During one of those calls the U-Haul employee just hung up on me rather than assist me in finding a truck I could pick up and drop off in the same place, with that place being in MY province. The local agent is so fed up with U-Haul never providing the rolling stock that his customers need that I think he will be terminating the agreement for breach of contract by U-Haul. Then, after taking my deposit and sending me an e-mail saying my rental was "GUARANTEED" (caps in the original), they gave my 26' truck to someone else and offered me a regular van instead. They were completely unmotivated to address THEIR mistake and treated me like I had done something wrong, not them. If it were possible to NEVER deal with U-Haul again it would still be too soon. Absolutely the WORST business experience of my life. I have no idea how U-Haul stays in business, other than that there is no competition. Terrible company.

You have a problem with how you have evolved your policies and what you have managed to accomplish is to have customers like me decide to find alternative options in the future. From your reservation approach (I did not get the truck I asked for and was only notified of the lack of availability the day more my required need, and I ended up with a much larger unit than I was seeking), to your approach to handling gas fill ups, it was just to frustrating. To add to that my experience in dealing with your rude and obnoxious manager had me declaring that I will never use uhaul again. You have some serious customer service issues, but more concerning, is your change in procedures that has the customer viewed as the second to your need to adhere to process. Cecil Smith - a lost customer of yours!

Your website tells the customer that if they do their check in on line they won't have to wait in line at the store. This is not true. Everyone still waits whether you have done the check in on-line or not. The system should change to have a fast lane for those who checked in ahead or you should remove that promise from your website.

To have more staff working when busy as it was very busy with a huge lineup and took a while to get looked after. Also, was very upset that gas tank was at 1/8 full making is have to wait 30 min to get keys and then had to stop for gas to fill up instead of receiving a full tank which is what is expected when you rent a vehicle. Just a drawn out process that I think we should've got a discount for the hassle.

Our society has been customers at the Dartmouth location on a weekly basis for at least 5 years but each contact with the service desk is like a new experience for your staff. When phones are busy at this location , calls should not go to your off site location. That is NOT SERVICE as they have not knowledge of local dealings.. If I give my Society name, after all these years, I would expect for our name to be entered into A computer program that would tell staff, new or otherwise, who I am and what I will be booking.

Had too wait a long time, despite having made reservation. Not enough staff to accommodate people in a timely fashion, stood in line for 55 min then had to deal with smart ass at the counter. Truck was a piece of junk, I am a certified mechanic and this terd can had alignment issues for sure, drove like a wheel barrel. Have had better experiences with this location in the past, probably not the fault of frontline employees, but rather greedy corporate dicks in head office. Next time I will try one of those jerked off looking uhaul outlets at the local convenience store and see how that goes.

The staff in Dartmouth was very friendly. The truck was excellent however, if you could manufacture the protective cage to allow the seats to adjust, even slightly it would contribute to alittle more comfort. Just a suggestion. Truck was very reliable....that was most important.

Some staff members are extremely arrogant and disrespectful. I rented a truck and a tow dolly. The staff members wanted my car bumper to get damage while putting it on the tow dolly and a staff member a elder guy was extremely disrespectful and he got very angry and impatient when i insisted my car bumper was gonna be damaged. I rented the truck and tow dolly to drive over 4000 kms, I'm assuming the truck would have been serviced and an oil change done, before we were 1/4 ways on the journey a light came on the dash saying oil change needed. I called the 1 800 number and waited over 30 minutes on the phone and didn't get through to road side assistance. I hang up and called back explained to the rep what the situation was and she assured me she'll send an email to the manager in Dartmouth nova Scotia to call me.....10 days later truck has been returned and still haven't received a call from the manager.....WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!

I made a change online to my hitch installation - and it was totally screwed up. my online receipt did not match the work order. What can I say... my particular car required a hard to find trailer hitch. In spite of waiting a week to learn a hitch was not available from the first source (apparently though listed as available, it was damaged) they found me another in Arizona, and had it delivered within a few days. They called me when it arrived offering an appointment the same day. Can't beat that kind of "going the extra mile"! Thanks to all the folks at the Windmill Road Uhaul facility!

Not related to the location, but overall, for Uhaul, I would really appreciate an earlier confirmation of the vehicle type/pick-up location/time. I found it stressful to not be positive that everything was as it should be until the day before picking up the equipment.

Unfortunately the location quality is irrelevant as we had so many miscommunications with Uhaul overall that made our experience terrible. The online reservation system is absolutely horrible and should be fixed or eliminated. The online system said one uhaul location had what I needed and I was sent a confirmation email of my order. I then was emailed to say they didn't have it (why does the online system say something is available if it's not - what is the point of the online system?) and that a cargo van was available at a different location. Why is a cargo van even recommended as a replacement for a 15/17' truck? They clearly are not comparable. Then I spent all day calling different truck companies before receiving a call from a gentleman who said he was working at the Windmill Rd. location and that they had a 15' truck reserved for me. I asked more than once if he was actually at the Windmill Rd. location and had a specific truck for me and explained the email I had received saying all that was available was a cargo van, and he assured me there was a truck for us for the 3 days requested. I asked for a confirmation email and received something by email. Thank goodness, we thought. The next day I received another email saying the above mentioned truck again didn't exist/wasn't available and now saying a pickup truck was available for me. Again, not comparable. Really not helpful. I called the Windmill Rd. location and was told I didn't have a reservation for a truck (so why was I even called the day before?). The new person I spoke to told me there was no truck available for the three days requested. I had to prompt him repeatedly with questions to find out that a 17' truck was available for at least part of my requested reservation - why wasn't this offered to me in the first place days ago? In the end we had a 17' truck for less than 24 hours and a pickup truck for the next 24 hours. No one offered us any kind of discount for the massive amounts of miscommunication. We were charged for a full 24 hour rental for the large truck even though it wasn't even available to us for 24 hours. Had uhaul had a system that allowed me to know from the beginning that what I wanted wasn't available, or atleast had not indicated it WAS available, I could have explored other options. Instead I spent days believing I had what I needed, days being stressed about the miscommunication and what we were going to be able to secure for our move, and 3 unbelievably long days and many kms moving our home rather than the 2 easy trips it would have taken in the truck I had ordered. Using the online system, I feel as if the system is designed to trick customers into believing uhaul has what they need so they don't look at other companies until it is too late to book. It also seems as if employees are not trained properly to offer effective solutions when something is not available, or even to confirm something is available in the system. The fact

When you rent a cube truck on a rainy day you really do expect, and should receive,a cube truck with a DRY cargo floor,, The one provided had a wet cargo floor when it was initially viewed(door lifted) at the site where finished hardwood trims were to be loaded. Not a pleasant experience to repackage goods to protect them against water preexisting on a cargo floor!

Our truck was so old it couldn't even do highway speed and it hardly started. It took a few try's to turn on every time. Also once you factor in gas and kms it's as expensive as getting a mover to do it. It wasn't worth my money.

I moved from one apt, to a new one on the same street. As in I did not travel far. I put in $10.00 of gas and the buddy still insisted he wanted to charge me $30.00 service charge for gas. I had to go get an additional $5.00. If you check the milage on your system, you will see that I did not have any reason for $15.00. Your employee demanded it. You also have workers that drive out the side that is meant for cars to come in, almost causing accidents.

The parking lot was overcrowded, upon pulling in I was blocked off completely by other vehicles trying to pick up equipment and had to wait and honk to get everyone's attention to clear a space. I felt ridiculous. There was little to no signage letting customers know where to park. The customer service was terrible, if I didn't ask the person what I needed to know he never would have told me. I was sent back out into the parking lot to pick up the truck with no idea who would be helping me. Eventually someone came along. When we dropped off the truck there was a lineup to the door in the stifling heat. We waited 30 mins in line to check out. I will NEVER use this location again. For a company who helps people move they need to get themselves organized. Absolutely chaotic and stressful experience.

well you could start by not lying to your customers every time you open your mouth.absolutely the worst experience ive ever had renting anything.you lied about my out kilometers and charged me an over my kilometers fee of 319 dollars when I was told I had the vehicle for a month and was allowed 4000 kms per month. I put 4000 on in six weeks and was charged 319 extra anyways.you can be sure im going to tell everyone who will listen about your wonderful service.

fire the guy behind the counter ... rental broke down on day two of three day rental. Had to escorte the vehicle techs to my house (in my own truck) during rush hour traffic in Halifax (if that ain't stress enough .. Halifax rush hr. traffic). Thought going to my pick-up location to state the condition of my rental vice calling the 1-800 # would be quicker to resolove my condundrum, boy was I wrong. I presented my contract to the guy behind the counter and 'tired' explaining the situation @ hand. Felt like I was at the Spanish Inquisition, he circled the 1-800 # on the sleeve of my contract folder & said I should have called 1-800 # vice coming into the uhaul location. So sorry for the inconvenience ... The vehicle techs cut the alternator belt to get the rental going & were only able to drive about 5K before they had to abandon the vehicle on the side of the highway. The guy behind the counter was trying to charge me an additonal 300$ + before the issue was resolved. I used my debit to put the deposit on the lame vehicle, thank fack. Piss on you and piss on the guy behind the counter. Do I feel like UHaul should reimburse me the cost of this rental .. hell yeah!

when taking the vehicle back there was a long line up with 2 guys working and 1 service rep was having an issue with his customer so really it was 1 guy trying to serve 4-5 people. perhaps a better system on-line wtih remote machines to do the checking of trucks back in outside vs inside.

The service was slow - the location appeared under-staffed for a busy Saturday in a peak moving season. Also, I feel that I was gouged on gas. The visual estimation of the fuel levels leaves a lot to be desired. I ended up driving only 7 miles total in the vehicle, but had to pay for $9 in gas because the check-out estimate of the fuel gauge differed from the check-in estimate. From my perspective, the needle hadn't moved at all.

While I found your equipment excellent & your representatives knowledgeable & courteous, the wait time to pick up a vehicle is unacceptable. I rented a van for the weekend on May 16th & stood in line for more than an hour and a half to pick it up because there were only 2 people at the desk area (that could handle 4 people) on a very busy Saturday morning. When I left there were more than 20 people in line & fighting had started to break out. On May 24th I also rented a van & had to wait another 35 minutes - again there were only 2 people to serve the many. If you folks want to be thought of as a world-class rental business - this should be dealt with - and sooner than later. For that reason I would hesitate to recommend this location - especially for a Saturday morning pick-up.

The whole administrative process is very inefficient. When I arrived on Saturday morning there was a line-up to the door and only 2 agents. It took me almost an hour to get to the front. I then had to go and hook the trailer I rented, after which I had to return and again stand in line for another hour to complete the paperwork, which by itself took forever; having completed the online registration did not speed it up at all. Everyone in line was getting frustrated by this process; we all have only the weekend to do what we intend to do with the U-Haul equipment and to have 2 hours of a Saturday morning wasted like that is just a shame. Registration can easily be streamlined in ways similar to self check-in at airports. Or else have more assistants during peak hours, especially on Friday evenings and over weekends.

Ia nAT there at least 10 times a year and the last two weekends I was there the employees that are there on saturday are worked to death and everyone is running around frantically. I waited in a line for an hour and a half just to get to the front counter. If that was my business I would make sure there was at least double the amount of people working there on the busy days . I arrived at 11 am to pick up my trailer rental and there was a very long line and only 2 people working the desk. It took me over an hour to get through the line and on my way. This is far too long and rather poor customer service! They seem to be very understaffed here. I think part of the wait issue is that it seems the software program used to pull up the reservations is tedious and difficult to navigate. It would be a great benefit to uhaul to update its rental software package to something more user friendly. Possibly even look into developing a self help desk/checkout?

We booked 2 weeks ahead and were told there was only ONE 15' truck. A day or 2 before picking it up, I got a call with a super inconvenient pick up time (5pm) and after telling them that didn't work for us we were pretty much told our only other option was to call other uhaul locations for trucks/times, so I did. There were zero options in HRM. So we changed our moving plans to make it work. Day of the pick up I called early out of curiosity 3 hours before our pickup time. They said I could come get it any time...... they knew I wanted another pick up time, it would have been even average customer service to call and let me know one was there early. On top of that, there were MULTIPLE 15' trucks sitting there not being used when we arrived. We were not impressed. Unfortunately the other 3 truck companies we called so we could hopefully cancel our 5pm uhaul were already booked. In the future, they will be the ones I'm booking with in the beginning.

Be wary of what is quoted online and what is in the paper contract when renting from this place. I had a online u-haul reservation that included round-trip mileage, but when I returned the vehicle they wanted to charge me for EXTRA mileage because the contract said only 30 miles (not kilometres even though we are in Canada). I had to escalate my concern in order to get this problem resolved, and in the end I did only pay for what I had in the online quote. My truck was poorly maintained, it had very poor brakes, when braking down hills going 80 km/h the whole truck was shaking uncontrollably. This is a safety hazard, I advised them of this when returning the vehicle. Please also note that high wait times can be expected when picking up your equipment in the morning, so arrive early. This is an OK place to rent a truck for a move, just be aware of what your signing for and maybe test the brakes going down a hill before loading it with your belongings.

Ensure uhauls are safe and not in disrepair before giving them to an inexperienced driver who expected to be getting at 14' truck not a 26' one. The truck would not even register how fast we were going on the high way at times. I was completely disgusted and terrified at the lack of care that was given for my safety. I have rented 4 times in the past 2 years from uhaul and I can tell you this will be my last and furthermore I will be telling everyone I can about my terrible experience. Customer safety should be a top priority and I feel like everyone dropped the ball on my rental. No one even called me to confirm ever I had to call myself. Terrible terrible service.

The person in charge of the Dartmouth location I personally find rude and abrupt. I inquired about changing my appliance dolly for a regular dolly and ended up getting called outside to get my vehicle transporter set up and left my dolly inside the shop. She puts my dolly back WITHOUT changing my contract, asking me to see if I still wanted it or to inform me that I no longer had it and proceeded to put it back with the other appliance dollys. Had I not gone back to get it I would have had an issue when getting to Sudbury because I would have been missing a dolly. I would only recommend using Uhaul in Dartmouth if your booking is done through the Maritime head office.

Had confirmation to pick up my U Haul trailer at a specific address, but when I arrived the trailer was not there and was told to travel to the main office in Dartmouth. This changed my schedule and reduced my time I had to use the trailer. I did return the trailer to the agreed destination when I made my reservation. I received a phone call later in the day suggesting I should have returned the trailer to the Dartmouth office. Do to my verbal arrangement with U Haul sales agent at time of booking, I returned the trailer to where I should have picked it up and do schedule I was unable to return to the Dartmouth store. I think U Haul should strive harder to have there products at the destination that's arranged at booking time. When customers rent your product, time would be of up most importance. Sales agents at the Dartmouth office where friendly and helpful. Thank you.

I had made a reservation, and when I arrived someone told me to sign one paper quickly To get the car. I was not informed that about the 15$ insurance in any way and I would have declined it. As far as I'm concerned you folks owe me 15$

The only thing that I didn't like was, I reserved my truck online and when they sent me a message where and what time I wanted it, the time wasn't right and they didn't have that size truck for me. Got a much bigger one but I will say they gave it to me for the price of the smaller truck so this is why I continue to use your service. Will be again in July in NL. Thanks

The man who helped us check in for our reserved truck was excellent. He was efficient and pleasant to deal with. The young man who checked us out when we brought back the truck was also efficient and pleasant and had us on our way in no time. Great service.Thanks

Late fee twice,could not get reversed.Poor client service.Lots of mouse/rat droppings in unit but furniture not damaged.Controlled as best you can?Otherwise the facility was clean and well maintained.
