Hurricane assistance

Donate to the Red Cross

Our hearts and thoughts are with those who have been tragically affected by Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Katrina. U-Haul Companies of Texas are offering 60 days of free storage to help Hurricane Rita evacuees and victims. Families needing more information about the 60-day free self-storage assistance program in Texas should call 1-800-GO-UHAUL or visit the nearest U-Haul Storage Center in Texas.

U-Haul is still offering 30-days free storage nationwide to those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Families needing more information about the 30-day nationwide free self-storage assistance program should call 1-800-GO-UHAUL.

In addition, we are supporting the American Red Cross, the military, and local police and fire departments in their efforts to get much-needed relief supplies to all the affected areas as well as to our fellow U-Haul team members. Because the need is so great, that is where we have focused our corporate efforts.

The American Red Cross has specifically asked us to encourage monetary donations only, as this is the best and most efficient way to get relief to those in need. Managing the flow of unsolicited donations hinders the effort to provide disaster relief in a timely manner. To make a donation, please visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-HELP-NOW or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish). For a list of other organizations who are participating in the hurricane relief effort, please visit www.networkforgood.org.

If you are an evacuee or family who has personally been affected by these hurricanes and need assistance we have been advised to provide you with the following instructions, register first with FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) and then register with the American Red Cross at 1-866-GET-INFO (438-4636).

U-Haul employees displaced by Hurricane Katrina

U-Haul employees who have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina should contact their supervisors, a local U-Haul Center, or contact U-Haul Human Resources by phone at 1-800-528-0463, ext. 6625, or by e-mail at humanresources@uhaul.com.

We will need your name, present location, an update on your status regarding a return to the area, if you need assistance and, if possible, a way to get in touch with you. Even if you do not plan to return to work, please contact us so we know you are OK. Thank you.

Will U-Haul donate the rental of a truck / trailer, or boxes and moving supplies?

U-Haul is currently offering 30-days free storage nationwide to families affected by the recent Gulf Hurricanes. We are supporting the American Red Cross, the military and local police and fire departments in their efforts to get much-needed relief supplies to all the affected areas as well as to our fellow U-Haul team members. Because the need is so great, that is where we have focused our corporate efforts.

Month in, month out, year after year, U-Haul has been there to help our fellow citizens. Whenever and wherever floods, fires, hurricanes, earthquakes or tornados have displaced people, U-Haul has offered 30 days of free storage to help people put their lives back together, and provided equipment to assist local relief efforts.

The American Red Cross has specifically asked us to encourage monetary donations only, as this is the best and most efficient way to get relief to those in need. Managing the flow of unsolicited donations hinders the effort to provide disaster relief in a timely manner.
