My reservation was for the Sunnyvale, CA branch, and I was there early! When I did NOT see the transporter on the lot I immediately began asking questions and was told they couldn't help me until 9:00 AM ! I was in a hurry, didn't have time to wait around. I called the 800 number and was then sent to the Mountain View location and assured that they would call ahead to have the unit ready, they did NOT! The brake actuator on the unit was visibly damaged, and I pointed that out to the 2 attendants who brushed it off as no big deal. The trailer brakes did NOT work properly just as I had suggested, but I was able to make the delivery. This is the worst U-Haul experience I've had in 20+ years. Next time I'll try Penske.

The whole experience, including online and at the location, was painless, fast, and satisfactory. I can tell that a lot of thoughts have gone into how to make cusotmers' lives easier and seamless in engaging with uHaul. I especially like the "skip the line" auto-checkin function on your website. I would encourage uHaul to keep using the lens of how best to serve cusotmers. You will get my repeat business!

Comments have nothing to do with location...your business practices lack common sense. I went to reserve a car transport trailer as I had done on previous occasions there prior. Was told I could not be guaranteed trailer at location three blocks from my house. But one would be available 15 miles away. Thru MY persistance, I finally was able to STEER your company into HOLDING a trailer at my local Uhaul. But only two days prior and much concern over scheduling issues at p/u and drop off due to your not being able to guarantee a trailer locally. Doesn't the word RESERVE have a meaning...guess not with you folks. Not a transaction I would reccommend!!

Have a efficient process when dropping off rentals without having to wait in long line would be great. Only having two staff members on a busy weekend is not ideal for customer satisfaction.

This seems to be one of my worst car return experiences. Returned the truck Sunday around 1pm, talked to representatives and was told to leave it outside. Called them back at 4:45 since I had to received a receipt via email. On Monday morning, I got the receipt in the email charging an extra-day since the return date was set to Monday morning. Unbelievably bad service (I would not have noticed this if I did not open and read the details in the receipt)!

Your customer service skills are in the negative for ratings. I have never had to deal with such a horribly trained staff! One guy tried to charge me double for my trailer.. Even though I had the form from the day before saying it was payed for.. I was in tears! He wouldn't let me take it without paying again!! Finally a older employee swooped in at saved the day.. Explained that the guy was new.. Which he shouldn't have been by himself if that was the case.. Don't go here.. Was a mess.

I had the unfortunate experience of finding out that the pickup truck that was scheduled for me wasn't available--apparently, the person who rented the truck before me hadn't returned it on time, and I had to wait more than an hour before actually being led to the rental location indicated on this form for a replacement truck. There were no apologies, just a insistence that I wait. And when asked how long the person might take, the manager of the original pick up location (Automotive Unlimited) simply told me it's "that time of the year," and essentially that he didn't know anything about how U-Haul schedules his truck rentals, and that I had to live with it, which was plainly ridiculous for someone running a business. It wasn't his fault, but the lack of responsibility and ownership of the rental service was downright embarrassing. I certainly won't use u-haul, again, if I were to rent trucks.

In the past, I've had no problem with this place. But I spent 10 dollars on refueling the van after use, and my final bill states that the fuel gauge was below the amount I received it (it wasn't) --- I triple-checked it. Unhappy with being ripped off.

Okay, U-Haul has a lot of opportunities for improvement here: [1] I had to wait through a 15-20 min line to speak with a representative, even though I'd made a reservation weeks in advance and checked in online a day before. [2] Only 2 of the 4 rental counters were open, despite this being a Saturday morning 2 weeks before all the UC schools start -- college apartment move-in rush hour. [3] I had to wipe a layer of dust off the point-of-sale screen to sign my name to the contract. [4] The representative with whom I worked, Javid Shaghel, was very courteous and was able to process my rental transaction in just a few minutes once I got to the front of the line. He printed out a contract which had the incorrect amount, 3/8, indicated for the fuel gauge. When he brought the vehicle around, he proactively checked the fuel gauge and noticed that the truck actually had 1/8 of a tank. He then amended the contract with a black ball-point pen showing the correct fuel amount, 1/8, and signed it with his initials "J.S." I returned the vehicle to the U-Haul location in Davis, CA. Unfortunately, it was after hours, so I was unable to show them Javid's hand-written amendment to the contract. Either Javid hadn't entered that amendment into the computer or the Davis location didn't check, because they issued a $74 charge for refueling. My 1st and 2nd phone calls in my attempts to resolve this issue were to the Davis location. The 1st call got an answering machine. On the 2nd call, the representative insisted that I resolve the matter with the Mountain View location. My 3rd call was to the Mt View location. The person I spoke with referred me to Customer Service. My 4th call, to CustSvc, resulted in them "opening a file" for the matter, but they then referred me back to MtView. My 5th call, to MtView again, reached a person named Scott. Scott said he would follow up with Javid and see if he could get the matter cleared up within a day. [5] If Javid didn't enter the contract amendment into the computer, he should have. If the software isn't able to handle such an amendment, it should. Until the software can be amended/replaced to enable such entries, I would recommend that such manual contract amendments be *called* from the pickup location to the drop-off location in the future. [6] The rep at the Davis location should have called the MtView location to get confirmation of the contract amendment rather than pushing the matter back on the customer.

I was very displeased the morning I rented. One person at 8am to check out vehicles and that person couldn't assist anyone for as least 20. Poor scheduling for a Saturday morning. Then on Friday evening on myuhaul website I had changed the vehicle I was renting with a uHaul chat line and it was NEVER changed. Fortunately they had one vehicle left. Then the rate per mile was outrageous. On the original rental the rate I had been quotes was incorrect. I was very unhappy with my first rental experience.

I did Express Online Checkin to "save time" (that's what U-Haul website brags about it), and then waited more than one hour in the line. This location seemed understaffed and all the staffs are overstretched. Seemed chaotic while picking up the van and returning it.

I had a 9 am pick up reservations. I did the check in and I stilled had to wait 1 hour and 25 minutes in line to pick up truck also I thought the rental was per day not by hour I was charged a late fee I didn't get the truck until 11am and returned it a little after 7:00pm on the same day which was September 6, 2014, also you need more staff on the weekend some of the customer where horrible and disrespectful to your staff

Gas was given at just a hair over 1/4 but was marked on sheet for 1/3. Suggest more care be given in marking actual level of gas in tank. It made it awkward when I went to return truck. Do I fill it to actual level at time of pick up or the level marked on the sheet so I don't get charged for not returning it with the same amount of gas? Would be easiest and most user friendly if we pick up truck full of gas and return it full. That way less hassle trying to fill it to original level. This is prone to error and an added frustration at the end of the rental experience. Also, center console had not been cleaned (sticky) nor had ash tray.

Frank (manager?) was great and recommend him highly. However when making reservation with your phone agents it was difficult to determine an estimate of the actual price even though I knew the exact milage and number of days. I got different answers every time I called. Overall experience was good. Thanks.. I'll be back next year.

I had to wait 45 mins in line to get the van I reserved online because there was not enough staff. My return time was not changed even though I waited for 45 min, so I only had to bring back the van 3h15 mins after I got it, rather than 4 hours. Also, the fuel level on my contract was higher than what I saw on the van gauge. Since I was in a rush because of the long wait, I did not check these details before I left the U-haul center. This was a very bad experience overall. Next time, I will choose another rental company.
