There were two ladies that where there when I arrived the one that helped me was mo in the beginning of the transaction her attitude was bad torwards the end it was kinda better the young lady next to her was horrible all around with customer service. But when I returned the truck there was a young man there who had a great personality did not catch his name heavy set African American guy. Even tho mo failed to inform me that the price on mileage went up after I was quoted on one thing and was charged something different plus I was told the first 37 miles was free. Overall I don't think I will be back. And please get rid off the labors that are out front it would do the business some good

I came to this location after originally reserving a van at the Uhaul on San Leandro. That locatin neglected to let me know that their vans were unavailable due to an incident of vandalism. That location had me wait for an hour to send me to another location for a van. The location that they wanted me to go to on Hegenberger also had no vehicles available and that is when the third location on international was called. Since I walked to the San Leandro location and needed the van right away, I was unable to immediately pick up the van. I was told by the San Leandro location that a ride would be provided to the other location but while waitinga half hour for that ride the clerks tried to convince me to take the bus and to wait another day to pick up the van. The manager finally drove me to the Uhaul pickup on international but the van was not immediately available as no one could find the keys or locate the vehicle. After 15 minutes they were both located and I was finally in possesion of the vehicle. Unfortunately, all of this waiting and mismanagement of time put my move off schedule. My moving help was unavailable due to the 2+ hour wait so I had to move by myself. It took 8 hours which compromised the rest of my plans. The office in the storage space that I rented was closed by the time that I finished and waxs not open on Sundays. This meant that I had to keep the van until Monday and move my things in that morning. I called in Saturday to report this delay to the Uhaul company but after talking to the national office the location on internationaal never called back. They did call back on Monday leaving me a message to return the van. This move has been incredibly costly and aggravating.

Customers time should be respected by having all cashiers attend to customers in line before conducting other business. Also there were inadequate staff for customers which were in line - especially for a weekend.

The rentals are no longer for a full 24 hours? They are until 7pm when you close? Now that's bunk. Yesterday the lights were out so we were checked out in the clerks personal phone...good grief..hope my card isn't in jeopardy!

The equipment was fine. The check-in process took far too long. There were three employees there, only two of which were manning computers. They kept talking to eachother farily unprofessionally the whole time. Upon return the gentleman that checked in the truck was on his cell phone during the entire transaction. Equpment = A, Service = D

Let me preface by stating everyone was great with the exception of two individuals. I called and spoke to a rep two days before I was scheduled to pick up to confirm my hold on a truck. Then I show up on Saturday to pick up my vehicle and it's scheduled for the following day, Sunday. This was after I asked the rep two days prior the day and time. Second, the woman (child) who I spoke with just stated it was for the following day, Sunday- and that's it. She hadn't apologized for the inconvenience nor did she offer a solution until I suggested one. She seemed lethargic...then she asked if I could return the vehicle by 2:30pm without letting me know what vehicle I would get. I asked if she could be more clear as I didn't think I would be able to get a vehicle, and that's when she had a bit if an attitude. 7/12/14 at 10am is her shift. I would have been satisfied with an apology, offer of a solution and better communication from her. But I ended up doing her job for her and dealing with her bad attitude. It would be great if someone could at least remind the two how to verify information properly and conduct themselves better with customers that don't instigate anything.

Dublin store is where I was supposed to pick up trailer. They didn't have it, and could care less about it. Went to the Oakland location. Treated just great. What a 1st-class operation. I would drive the 20 miles to Oakland on my next rental because I know I would have no problems. Dublin store could learn a lot from the folks in Oakland.

My comments below reflect my overall experience with U-Haul and not just U-Haul of Oakland My experience with U-Haul was extremely disappointing. I confirmed one of your trucks for 9am at Done Right Auto Spa through Uhaul.com to help my girlfriend move from San Francisco to Oakland. I selected 9am because it was the earliest available and did not want to get stuck in late morning traffic into San Francisco. I figured the absolute latest I would get on the road would be 9:15am, however Done Right Auto Spa was closed, even though U-Haul confirmed I would have a truck at 9:00am there. I waited a bit and tried calling the shop: no answer. I called U-Haul. After explaining the location was close, the customer service representative said she would check on it; however, when she placed me on hold the call dropped. I called again and received a new rep on the other end of the line. I explained the same situation and she said she would check on it. The same thing happened: the call dropped. I checked my phone and had full service. The third time I call I received a customer service rep that was not pleasant and would reply I apologize for the inconvenience no matter what I said. I kept telling her I just want a truck and her same response was I apologize for the inconvenience before she told me I have to talk to traffic as if I knew the U-Haul jargon. She said she was going to transfer me to traffic, however I was rerouted to the prompt that comes up when you call the regular 800 number. I tried going through the prompts again, however I was on hold for 9 minutes before the call sounded like it was being answered and ended. After the 4th time of calling, I stated what happened in my three previous calls and that customer service rep connected me to traffic within 5 minutes. By now it is 10am, and the hired help that I have is just sitting in San Francisco not doing anything and I still don’t have a truck. The person in traffic finds a truck for me at U-Haul of Oakland which is over 8 miles away on way. I asked that if I will not be charged for the extra mileage and she asks why, like it was extremely offensive for me to ask to not be charged for the extra mileage I had to drive in my car and in the U-Haul on the way there and back because I should have been picking the truck up a mile away from the new place. I explained my case and she said the regional manager will call me. It has been more than a week and not a call from anyone. Once I got to U-Haul of Oakland it was 10:15am. There was a girl in front of me in tears because a similar experience happened to her, but the front desk associate did not care. I overheard the U-Haul associate say that this type of thing happens all the time. When it was my turn to finally check-in, I explained my case and asked how often this happens because I wasn’t sure if I heard her correctly the first time. Sure enough, she had the same answer. The staff was helpful in unloading the trailer. However the location was less than ideal. In fact, we did not feel comfortable returning the truck at night, instead we waited until morning. Furthermore, I was incredibly frustrated at the lack of communication about the drop off location. My reservation was to drop off in Berkeley. During the move I found out I could not drop off in Berkeley. I would recommend the Berkeley location being removed from the reservation list until they are a viable location. Additionally, I did not appreciate having a hold time of 20 minutes to talk with a representative about the drop off location. I truly felt taken advantage of during a stressful time. It cost me more gas and I was concernd about mileage driving back to Oakland, I doubt I will use uhaul again.

They Charged me for gas.... Not enough to be worth my time to confront them and get a refund, however it seemed I bit like a Scam. Just thankful to have access to a truck like this on short notice. Thanks uhaul.
