I am never using UBox again. When I first reserved the UBox they told me it was going to Oakland, but could not tell me speficially which location. Just before we started the move I called to see if they had figured out where it was going. They informed me that the order said it was to stay in Detroit (even though we explicitly stated it needed to go to the Bay Area). Once we had arrived in the Bay Area, I recieved a call telling me that my UBox had been recieved at this location. I then reserved a truck and trailer for 9am. I was told that my truck, trailer, and UBox would be ready to go at this location. Upon arriving at this location, I was informed that my UBox was at a different location and had never even been at this location. I had to perform two rentals and two returns at two different UHauls several miles apart. When we returned the UBox, the cashier could not locate our UBox order to close out the contract. She said it did not even say that it had been shipped in the first place. At this point it's a miracle that we even have our belongings at all.

This is a good place to pick up a van, quick, easy no hassle. It's actually walkable from Coliseum BART (about 7 blocks) through a bit of an industrial area. I'd recommend, especially since it has a 24 hour drop off key box

Your system is very bad. I live in Cupertino (near San Jose) and I booked online a 15 ft truck one week ahead. You decided a day before the pickup to change my order to 10ft truck (not big enough for my move. The result was that I spend more than one hour on phone with your personal trying to find a 15ft truck. We found one in Oakland which is 40+ miles from my home. This drive to pick the truck from Oakland wasted 3 hours of my time!!! You are really bad!!! I guess you practice overbooking and you do not care about your customers, Yelp, etc.

Location was poorly run. Wrong trailer was hooked to truck and had to be changed. Took over 30 minutes to get help.

I received an email stating my truck was guaranteed to be available on Aug 16th from another Uhaul location in Oakland. Upon calling them the informed me they wouldn't have the truck until the 17th. Then after calling customer service I was referred to Uhaul in Berkeley had what I needed and could be picked up that day(15th.) I drove to the Uhaul location only to be told that they did not have a truck. To improve on the next customer there MUST be better communication and better inventory accuracy.

I was confirmed at another location, 4 miles away, that did not have my truck. They would not provide a ride, call a cab or even give me a glass of water before I had to walk an hour to the second location (in 90 degree heat, through crime-infested East Oakland). That location was totally unhelpful with the situation and would not even apologize. Astonishingly poor service.

IF we put more gas in the tank when we return the vehicle It would be great to get credit or reimbursement.

Uhaul allowed me to drive for a 420 mile rental in an UNSAFE vehicle. My tires were so busted, i ended up sitting on the side of the road for 3 hrs JUST TO GET A HOLD OF roadside assistance. I was not even able to catch a line with them until my brother played a trick and called as though he was buying a product. They answered really quickly then! By the time I finally got help, it was 11pm at night. I, a young single woman, was on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere having to deal with this at the end of the night because of Uhaul's non-responsiveness to a problem which was their responsibility in the first place. When the guy came to change the tire, he said he had to change the one next to it too because it was so bad it would have probably had the same issue soon enough. If this had happened, i literally would have swerved and crashed on the freeway. I had already started swerving when the one tire busted, and thank god was able to stabilize to get off the freeway safely. Uhaul is a huge national corporation. The only thing they do is a "visual inspection" upon the vehicles as they return back to them. This is completely unacceptable. I don't pay $500 for a rental in a vehicle that has not had its tires and basic levels checked to make sure I am safe. I am going to dispute the charges, including for the hotel i had to stay in that night unplanned. When I told them upon my arrival, they said i had to talk to the place i originally got my Uhaul from. Of course when i called that office, they said the opposite... being run around now. I suggest you make sure your vehicle is checked thoroughly before getting on the road, if you insist on taking Uhaul.

I made my reservations weeks in advance & when I went to pick up the Uhaul truck your rep told me that the truck I am supposed to have picked up has not been returned by the previous customer and its not his fault. Your rep did not offer to call any other Uhaul offices around but just let me walk out. But, I as I walked out I thought of that idea & asked your rep to call around to find me another Uhaul truck and he did. I will not recommend your company to anyone. I hired movers that waited for the truck for close to 2 hours for me to arrive with. very stressful day. ( your company should have at least offered me a discount)

We have used u-haul a lot in the past few months. It would be great if you offered special rates for return customers. Also, we had to leave our bed because mice had gotten into our storage and ruined the mattress. We had found some other items chewed up by mice that were placed in the ubox. The customer service we received was awesome each and every time! Something to be worked on would be the set up of reservations, we confirmed reservations on two separate times and we drove to the locations when we found that the locations were not correct. Please do not give options of pick up locations, just assign the closest location, to save the customer time and frustration. Moving is already a headache!

I dropped my ubox off in Austin, TX on the 31st of August to be delivered to Oakland, CA. The first estimated delivery time was August 12. Understanding this as an estimate, I did not hold uhaul to it as an exact arrival time. What has since transpired is the worst customer service experience imaginable. When I called the Oakland location to arrange the details of my pickup (what kind of truck to rent to gather my items), the representative offered me a definite arrival date of August 13. An email was sent with the same information. August 13 would have been perfect. They said the box wouldn't arrive until noon. The apartment to which I am moving allows for 9am-5pm move ins. So I decided to get an early start on August 14. Upon arrival, uhaul staff alerted me that my box was not yet there. I figured this was simply a clerical issue and my box was on site and just lost in the shuffle. Unfortunately, I was dead wrong. The staff told me their computers showed an 8/14 delivery date at noon. I continued to watch a female employee clip her fingernails and eat Butger King breakfast while halfheartedly attempting to locate my box via telephone. I figured this would amount to only a 3 hour delay. Again I was wrong in assuming such. I left the store to handle errands and continued to check the status over the phone. In addition, I contacted my moving help and explained that a morning move in would not be happening. Some first impression I'd display to my new classmates who were kind enough to offer their time to a relative stranger. Shortly thereafter, to my shock and displeasure, a routing agent explained that my box was delayed and it would now arrive August 17. This day is and was insufficient as I start school on August 17 and will be unable to retrieve or move in my items until the following weekend. The representative asked, "nobody called to tell you your shipment was delayed?" Of course not. Inexplicably, I've been doing all of the leg work. I had to call the location, customer service, the ubox shipping department, regional manager, etc. At every juncture they assured me I would be receiving a call back when they knew more about. I received no calls back. The day was spent chasing down an explanation. Dylan, the regional manager expressed that the moving company they work with had misplaced my box and he would work on getting it to me by August 15. I told him that if the box arrives any later than that I would be needing moving help because of the start of school and would receive a full refund. Dylan said uhaul would be able to accommodate and that he would call me back shortly. Still waiting on that call from Dylan. Meanwhile, I have moved into my apartment the items that fit in my Volkswagen. I am 1800 miles away from the city of origin and uhaul has my bed, all of my cooking items, and most of my clothing/toiletries. They offered no recompense beyond $50/day for every day my box is delayed. What an arbitrary figure! Meals alone in San Francisc

Original master order number: 23596835 Hi, our rental was scheduled for 1:30 pm. We received a call around 12:30 from the rental location that the U-Haul would not be ready till about 4 - 4:30 pm. I was informed that I would be receiving a $50 credit from the rental location due to the delay. The moving service agreed to stay for additional charges. By 4:15, I received no confirmation that the rental was ready and called the rental location to inquire about pickup time. I was immediately transferred to the regional office and informed that my status was a no-show. The regional office was able to secure a 10' van instead of the truck. The 8000 st. location was able to provide a truck as originally requested. By the time we had the truck at the house, the moving service had left, and we had to pay $170 for their time.. My significant other and I had to move all our worldly belongings ourselves and take additional time off work to make up for the time lost. This had been our worst moving experience, all due to the fact that the original location did not adequately plan to meet their promises to their customers.

Site staff were friendly and professional. And the rental process was efficient. Van inside and out was very dirty. The inside of the van smelled like cigarettes. The windshield was dirty, which made it difficult to see out of during driving.
