While U-Haul takes precautions to provide a clean, dry and secure environment to store your property, we are not responsible for damage or loss to your goods. For that reason we offer you Safestor, a low-cost protection package designed specifically for your goods while stored in a U-Haul storage facility. Ask your U-Haul representative when renting storage.
Safestor covers you in case of loss or damage to your stored goods from fire, hurricane, tornado, wind, earthquake, vandalism, lightning, smoke, hail, building collapse, explosion, leaking water and burglary. Burglary coverage is limited to 50% of the coverage amount. Also, there must be visible signs of forced entry and a police report must be filed. Furthermore, there is no coverage for loss causing by or resulting from war, flood (or surface water), vermin, or climatic conditions like rust or mildew.
Items not covered are as follows: financial records, currency, deeds, securities, stamps, jewelry, watches, precious stones, furs or garments trimmed with fur, works of art or antiques, motorized vehicles of any type, whether licensed for road use or not, such as motor scooters, ATVs, or motorcycles.
Your Safestor policy may include conditions that are required by the laws of your state. If you purchase Safestor insurance, please review the full policy, including endorsements for a full description of your coverage.
