The time I walked in, till the time I walked out with the trailer was minimal. Sometimes it takes 30 plus mins to get everything done. Main Road Self Storage was really efficient.

The truck had the check engine light on, the AC didn’t work half the time and it had the worst gas mileage I have ever seen, had to spend almost $200 just in gas for this truck.

My only qualm, which seems to be the corporate's fault, is that there are never enough blankets to rent. Last time we rented from them a few months ago we were only able to rent 3 blankets because they were out. Three months later and corporate still hasn't resolved the issue of not enough blankets, even though there are plenty to buy. Why can't they just take some off the shelf and supplement their low supply? The GM was working that day and can't remember his name but he was incredibly efficient. Before I learned he was the GM I was thinking he should be because he was so well organized and seemed to have control over a lot of things going on at once.

Although the location was wonderful, it is frustrating to constantly have our pickup location changed. I reserved a month in advance and it was out of the way significantly. I was also given less than 24 hours notice.

It was the most terrible experience. On February 16th I had a big move to another state, to avoid any misunderstandings I arrived at this place a week before the move to book a truck and tow dolly to transport my car. All the transport that I needed for the move was at this place on the day I arrived, but the employee said that there was no need to reserve anything and that I should not worry and return to them on the day of the move. I understood that it was very important for me that all the transport I needed was available on the day of the move, since I had to load a lot of my things into a 15-foot truck and hit the road from Charleston to Miami, a journey that takes about 9 hours. So later that day, when I returned home, I installed the U-Hail app and, to be on the safe side, reserved the transportation I needed for the day of the move. After which I thought that nothing bad could happen and calmly waited for the moving day. But it seems I was wrong... On the evening of February 15, I received an email that they wanted to change my tow dolly rental location, since the U-Hail branch where I booked the trailer may not have it, but this is not certain (apparently the company itself does not know whether they will have this trailer or not). On the morning of February 16, the day of my move, the manager of U-Hail called me and said that my trailer would not be in this place and I would need to go to another city to get it, but they did not have the 15-foot truck there that I needed. I tried for a long time to explain that it was very inconvenient for me to drive my car first to one location behind a truck and leave my car there, then go to another city for a tow dolly, and then return to the first location where I left my car to load it on a tow dolly and only after that return home and begin my not easy move. They absolutely did not help me solve the problem that the company created for me. And when I came all this way and came back to load my car onto the tow dolly, so that it could be done faster, since I had already wasted a lot of time, I asked the U-Hail employees to help me load the car onto the trailer, since I had previously done this I’ve never done this, but the employees simply told me that they would not help and that I could look up information on Google on how to do it correctly. Because of these problems, my planned move started five hours late; other consequences I will not describe here. This is the worst experience, the worst company and the worst employees. You asked me to take the time to write you a review, done. But you can’t ask for anything!

The truck felt like a wheel was out of balance so it bounced a lot when driving. Maybe driving the trucks a bit in between clients to verify everything rides right would help.

Dropped off the equipment on 12/27 for a 12/26 rental. The dropoff location was initially incorrect. That was straightened out but they gave me no receipt for returning the equipment after I asked multiple times, "said it wasn't needed". Now i'm being billed for an extra day. (return on 12/28 - when it was returned on 12/27). This is not the first time this has happened - across completely different U-Haul locations - it seems to be a theme with them to grab a little extra money. I would not use U-Haul if at all possible.

They called me multiple times after I returned the vehicle saying that my card declined. They false advertised the pricing online it said $33 but when I went inside the price went up to $73 I was told that it was just a hold that they put on the card no a charge but I was charged $73 even tho I didn’t go over 50 miles and I put gas back. I would’ve liked a refund I was no satisfied at all.

Pricing advertisement ($19.99/day) is deceptive. BASE fee was $19.99 but mandatory insurance of $11 and $0.69/mile more than DOUBLED the advertised price (and I drove < 25 miles). Van was in very good condition and easy to drive.

I rented this unit for storage for almost 2 years. I dealt with Matt during this time. He was great to deal with over my time renting the 10 by 15 Climate controlled unit. Matt is an asset to this facility.

When you added the insurance requirement, I checked out other options. Although insurance also was required there, this new facility was half the distance to my home on a route I travel almost daily, had a more convenient loading/unloading setup, and was @30% less expensive than you.

Main Road Self Storage has been a facility in which we have great confidence that our personal belongings are safely housed. The building is immaculate, kept at a comfortable climate controlled temperature, and secure. The staff is responsive, friendly and helpful. In fact, when we needed to rent a 2nd unit, we immediately headed to Main Road. I HIGHLY recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a top notch storage unit for your personal possessions.

I rented at this facility for over 6 years and was disappointed to find out that i would not receive a refund for the unused portion of the monthly rent. I used the unit for only 10 days in December. I was hoping to get a refund of $100 (2/3 of the monthly rent) I will not recommend this facility and that is why i give it a below average rating.

We had our belongings in storage for 2 months at the facility. We paid for an air conditioned unit specifically to protect our things from mold, mildew and mustiness. However, when we removed our things we discovered that everything was mildewed and musty. We had to clean all of our clothes and had to get rid of a fabric couch and leather recliner. We were in the facility several times over the 2 months storage. While the building has air conditioning, it is not sufficient to keep the humidity level down to the point where mildew and mustiness won't set in, particularly in a long term storage.

We purchased our unit and never actually used it. I called and spoke to someone that we had a emergency come up and needed to cancel our unit. The person I spoke with said she understood and said she was closing it out and said it was taken care of. There was no mention of any outstanding charges. 16 days later we find that 70 dollars had been automatically taken out of our bank account without our authority and no explanation. The lady we spoke with was very rude and said it was her who was the one that spoke with me originally and said she told us the charges, which was unfortunately not true and that they weren't going to refund us anything. It's incredibly disappointing and this is also after the first person I spoke with said it was all noted on the account and was going to get it taken care of. I will never use this facility again and tell everyone we know not to use this facility.

It probably came from another customers storage but evidence of a mouse , chewed into one of my boxes, excrement present. When i first moved in had to clean out spider eggs and web, dead roach in the storage unit. Otherwise it was clean, cool, liked the available carts, staff very nice. .

It’s very clean, organized and well stocked (fair prices) with the essential items you never remember to bring with you when moving. These units are maintained at a consistent temperature, but they are not climate controlled as advertised. Protect your belongings accordingly! Mold will grow.

The facility was clean. However, there was a flaw in the roof and it leaked brown fluid into my unit, ruining my white sofa, elegant table, large mirror in gold frame, and family portrait. It was at least a month later when I went to my unit to find the damage done. They could have checked my unit and notified me, but did not. I paid $240.00 per month for the unit and did not elect to pay extra for insurance. Because I did not have insurance I was not compensated for the loss of my furniture and portrait..

The building is easy to access and carts are provided for customers to move their things in/out to other floors via an elevator. ALL the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They also provide a large choice of moving materials if needed. I highly recommend them to anyone on Johns Island and the surrounding areas.
