The UHaul website and automated message systems are really challenging to deal with: the website is not user-friendly and prone to miscues. The auto-alerts are helpful but WAY too many messages came in related to our rental. The volume of messages almost became "white noise" that I was tempted to begin ignoring.

Luther KnightThe truck had 110K miles on it in very rough condition. The truck smelled like cigarettes and weed. There were cigarette butts or joint butts under the seat. Steering wheel was sticky and falling apart. Truck didnt run properly. Very disappointed with this rental.

This was not initiated by me in any way, I have been on the phone with uhaul for over an hour trying to get this issue resolved.

Tim CaldwellI original pick up location was the ROC airport location on Ajax Road where I received a truck which was half filled with fuel. The Ajax Road representative was excellent. I filled the U-haul truck because I was ready to travel $67.75.There was a screw in the tire that caused me to go to the Jefferson Road location for a replacement. No one me to show them the location of the screw in the tire. The representative at Jefferson Road location was not customer service focused. No one from the Ajax location called the Jefferson Road location to notify them why I was coming. When I arrived to the Jefferson Road location, the representative was sure how to process an Emergency Vehicle report. While I was waiting, I asked to use the restroom. I was told that the location didn’t have a Public restroom and I had to go across the road to the gas station. I didn’t think that was a proper response and didn’t respond inappropriately. I asked about reimbursement for the fuel and told to call the 800 number. I called the 800 number that evening and received a reference number 4616217. I was told someone would contact me in 1-3 days. I never received any call.

Michael ConlonEmployee with a lazy eye there said, we can do military discount. Then said that the place where I’m moving to will give it to me. When I get there they said that the lazy eyed employee was the one that needed to apply the discount. Both locations gave me the run around. Just so I can get a ten percent discount, for someone that served this country l, a veteran. This is how bad this company is, bottom of the barrel. This guy is lying or poorly trained. You guys go above and beyond to rip off the customer. Not a single positive customer experience, no help from anyone. There of any U-Haul. These people are con artists. Zero stars.

It took some time to sort out, but as I said the staff was excellent working with me to fix the fuse and change out to another trailer. I would suggest a better evaluation before renting a unit. The connector cabling was clearly damaged prior to renting the unit to me.

Maria PerezMcknightI originally placed the reservation at the long pond road location 3 months in advance. The day before they called to let me know that the trailer would not be available because the people who had it were not keeping their contract and returning it on time. They said I could pick up a trailer at the Ajax location or wait a full day to pick up the trailer. When asked if I could return it to the long pond location because that’s where I reserved it from they told me No and I would be charged more. She pretty much told me that I had no option and cut me off and hung up. How is it fair that it’s their fault and I’m the one that would have to pay more. I’m sure they changed the other people for breaking the contract and they again were going to charge me for them breaking their contract. Good customer service would have been for them to go pick up a trailer and have it at the location I reserved it from. Or said it would be okay for me to bring it back at no extra charge. When talking to the team at the Ajax location they said it should have been no problem for me to drop it off with no extra charge. It’s up to that stores manager how they do business. I guess I will be doing all my business at the Alex location. They were super helpful very polite and they answer their own phones and not have all calls forwarded to the call center where they have no idea what your talking about. Thank you to the great team at the Ajax location. The long pond rd team should learn customer service.

Estelle VegaFrom the Rochester, NY point of view it was Great with no problems. From the NC point of view they were good, but need to improve letting customers know the accurate time for pick-up. I understand that issues happen ,can't help when a driver gets ill. When you say a certain time to pick up on certain date and it goes by and I call to see when coming that day and wasn't on NC's schedule . Long story short they got them yesterday, Sept. 18th, 2023.

kweli samsWhat you can improve is having people things arrive on time. I went days without having my clothes and my daughter had to move in her dorm with nothing. I called customer service and they were no help. No one had no answers to why my UBOX was still sitting in NY. When I finally get my UBOX both of my tv were damaged and Uhaul insurance doesn’t want to replace it. Even though I had insurance on my UBOX. I was only given $200.00 refund for UBOX being 5 days late because they only give a measly $50.00 a day for my things being late. I will never rent a UBOX again. They suck for service and suck for NOT replacing my 75 inch tv for being damaged. They need to do BETTER with paying out for not arriving on time and replacing my items that damages.
Voncia BrownThe mileage of the truck was mal-functioning. When I returned the truck, it read 978,000 miles. That was impossible. The total rental for one day with estimated miles was 78.00. I extended one day and 25 extra miles and was charged 224.00 after 2 days of investigating what went wrong.They robbed me and never contacted me with the decision.

In the past, the service has been excellent, so I will chalk this incident up to a momentary lapse and store my vehicle there again next year..

On one occasion when I came to check on my vehicle, there was a large puddle of water under the front end of the car and the area beyond the front of the car. I have no idea where the water came from or why it was collecting in that particular area. However, the straps for my car cover were encrusted with evaporated salt when I came to check out. I was super disappointed to find out there was potential exposure to salt to my vehicle when I am paying for storage for the sole purpose of avoiding salt corrosion.
