Only issue: I didn't get my usual UHaul person & the one I did get, went out to check out the van when I brought it back, took forever to look it over (it seemed), finally came back in & said "you're all set". I told him no, I wanted to pay cash. He looked surprised, said he put it on the credit card. I let him know he never asked me if it was OK, that this was a company dump run & I needed to pay cash. He spent several minutes on the computer, couldn't figure it out & I gave up. This will make a lot of paperwork & time wasted for me. Long story short...ASK how your customer wants to pay, DON'T assume! Otherwise, great experience as always.

The Owners are amazing Craig and Jennifer helped me and were very compassionate. I will not recommend Uhaul as a company as they do not support there owners. My belongings were damaged in a facility that Uhaul does not maintain or make secure from vermin! Uhaul should be ashamed to rent such a poor quality environment and make people just live w the problems all the while paying extremely high rent for many yrs. There was no compensation only denial of insurance claims before I could even submit photos. I’m very disappointed in such a large corporate company that cares so little. I wasted 159.$ a month in rent to have all my belongings covered in vermin feces, mold, and things chewed apart. I do have personal insurance, but the deductible was higher than the actual value of my belongings. Since most all my things were heirlooms and vintage, I couldn’t put a price to them I didn’t have insurance on my unit, knowing that the cost of the insurance over the course of the years would be more than the value of my items, since they are personal. It’s disheartening to me that I was not even given the chance to be heard aside from the wonderful owners Craig and Jennifer were able to refund me my last month since I was out on time will not be renting from U-Haul ever again in my life if I can avoid it And I will be telling all my friends and family the experience that I’ve had .

The truck leaked water and although I purchase a U Haul bag for my mattress it got wet!!! Several boxes also got wet as the water covered the entire floor. Very disappointed.

This location & the folks here are excellent! They are always friendly & helpful...unlike Gorilla Gas where they are surly, unhelpful & unfriendly, they have no customer services skills- I feel like a bother. The Gearhart location is so the opposite! I go an extra 10 minutes out of my way, just to do business with them, GOOD JOB!

No improvement it's perfection, the lady who worked a night shift followed by a morning shift this weekend at the gearhart Oregon location is amazing and deserves a raise, when I came in to return my dolly I rented she didn't even have to ask my name she just knew who I was after only meeting one time, she's great with customers and she knows how to do her job to a t. Seriously she's holding the fort down and you dudes better give her the credit she fucking deserves.

I arrived to pickup my truck at 7am on Sunday and the store did not open until 9am, I had to do the mobile check-in and was not able to check-in due to bad cell connectivity at that location. I lost 2 hours in my day that I was paying movers to help and had to wait until 9am when someone arrived onsite. If there was a guest access wireless available at the site that would not have happened.

Just one. There is a location closer to me- Gorilla Gas. They are incredibly rude & unhelpful. They do not want to assist you in any way. The Gearhart location is such a breath of fresh air. They are helpful, considerate, friendly. They work hard to insure I have everything I need to be successful.

I reserved a UHaul at Astoria, OR site. I arrived to pick up the truck and was informed there was no truck available for me. The clerk explained the prior renter never returned the truck due back the day prior. I was not contacted about this until I arrived to pick it up. They had all my contact info but failed to contact me. The only option provided was a smaller truck despite larger trucks sitting* in the yard. I had to contact dispatch and they directed me to another UHaul in Gearhart. I had movers waiting for the truck so had to do something. We went to Gearhart, which was 12 miles out of my way. The Gearhart staff were wonderful and had a truck ready for us. I will never do business with the Astoria UHaul again!!!

Also, Gearhart facility manager Craig B. always forthright and clear with e-mail communications concerning rent changes and access. The majority of my children's keepsakes, my important documenta, family pictures, furniture and everything has been destroyed by mice that I personally notified you of months prior! I was told someone would come in to our unit amd ensure the mice were no longer an active issue. I had no food in my unit at all. Everything was chewed and ruined.

My overall experience was poor because I was assured by the person on my call that the storage Id receive upon arrival would be adequate to hold the contents of my truck. Instead, I arrive to empty my truck, and the storage is only 1/3 of what I need. That forced me to not only rent a U-box, but also another storage area in town. So instead of a free month of storage, I ended up paying twice as much for extra storage, in addition to the free closet sized space given me. Had I known that storage at this facility would be inadequate, I would have made other arrangements prior to my arrival. So, it’s not necessarily the facility’s fault, but the reservation agent that misspoke.

The owner is wonderful! Very helpful!!!! My only comment is when I rented online. I asked for a main floor and reserved a main floor. When we came to finalize we were told that the reservation online was made through the main office they don't know what you have. I was very upset. However the manager helped us out as much as he could. He's awesome! Online needs to be synched up with what you have available. For a big company what a hasell for an business

Self storage space on the North Coast of Oregon is a hot commodity. So much so that many proprietors have become aloof, unhelpful or even contemptuous of the people who show up daily, often desperate to find storage. Absurdly long waiting lists, dismissive laughter and eye rolling are the norm, even at sketchy and tattered facilities. Not so here. First, nothing is sketchy or tattered. Second, there is no waiting list, if you show up just after somebody moved out, the unit is yours, but be quick, because other people are checking availability on the website multiple times a day and reserving online the minute a unit pops up. That's what I did. It wasn't entirely smooth due to a website glitch, but that brings me to point three. Third, Craig, the general manager, was unfailingly patient, polite and friendly, even when delivering bad news. His staff - Jan, Sam and Jenn come to mind - were a welcome combination of affable, competent and considerate. Moving in to our storage unit here was not without a hitch, but it worked out well thanks to their professionalism and personability. Thanks again.

The problem was I had my boat stored in the back outside storage and there was lots of garbage, my trailer lights were stolen, and I saw people using it as there shop area. When I took my boat out of there, the nice worker said they are getting rid of that storage.

The girl at the counter, Sarah, in the gearheart storage facility screamed at my family. When I got there she was very rude while I was trying to ask for help on an online reservation that I had and then proceeded to scream at my family while I was trying to just get my storage reservation fixed. I would be embarrassed to have her as the face of my company and had I not been in a pinch I would have left and gone somewhere else.

Some employees need to work on there costumer service skills. Also the charging policy for overlapping payment should change. I paid my last bill for the whole month and had almost half the month with the storage unit I rented empty and no refund for the difference. This is a poor business practice, this company should be ashamed of. No I will not refer anyone to U-HAUL.

Nice facility, nice people. Saved our bacon when we needed a storage unit at the last minute, and one came available. The manager didn't realize one had been vacated, but he went to double check, found it, and made contact with us before we left the parking lot. Thanks for great customer service. The individual who helped me check out of my unit was very unhelpful and somewhat confused by the entire process. I specifically asked if I needed to take my lock off before closing out the account and he said no, that I could just grab it after. Then after checking me out, he told me that if I went to get my lock the alarm would go off. I asked if he could please help me get the lock back and he threw a tantrum so I told him to forget it. Of course, the alarm went off when I went to get my lock which was very frustrating. He was also very rude when I asked if I'd be refunded for the days I didn't use this month. His response was, "I can't just open the cash drawer and start handing out money to customers." I never asked him to give me any money, just what the process was for getting credited for the unused amount. There were several other customers in line who were also quite surprised by his behavior and lack of knowledge.

I literally loaded a uhaul truck in phoenix arizona and moved my whole life to seaside. The whole crew at this location are real people. They did so much to make my move easy and comfortable. I felt secure in leaving my belongings with this storage unit. Only one suggestion....leave a rolling cart on the second story level, even if a cheaper model equipped with a theft device. I had a unit that was at the very back of storage floor. At my age, and usually alone when at storage, it is difficult to move things all that way. Or to pull one of those carts "up to" the second floor area. Staff were cheerfully wonderful. I also had rental vehicles in my time from here - all those experiences were good too. Very helpful staff, advised me of more cost effective techniques, to save me money - at a time of moving from one state to another was a GREAT help. Thank you to the staff there in Gearhart.

The unit was dirty upon rental and the building was not kept very clean. Access to the second floor unit was a little difficult. The staff was friendly and helpful.

While the staff was exceptional,,getting intothe unit was always difficult. I often had to go to the office because the sliding door wouldn’t open. I’m short and to open the door I always had to wave my arms again and again to get it to open. It was difficult for me to have to load things on the big cart then manouver over it threw the door and unload it again. I appreciate the security, but it was difficult for me.

The only negative was that I had reserved an outside unit a couple weeks before. I wanted an inside unit, but the outside was the only thing that was available at the time. When I went in - the outside unit wasn't available - a computer thing???? But they took care of me with 2 inside 5x10 units for the same price as a 10x10. So that works out great for me. Thus the excellent rating even tho there was a screw up.

I'm sure the storage units are fine and have no issues. The parking space I rented had no security and had people living in a motorhome next to it. It was almost impossible to back the boat into with other cars parked in the road way, in fact it almost impossible to pull it out when I came to get it. Also too many random people milling around with no fence or security. Just not a good fit for parking a boat.

The parking space is small and hard to access. The turn on the back of the north side of the building is too tight to be able to access from that side which is how one needs to approach to easily back in to the space. Perhaps moving the tires being stored there would create more room. The turn on the south side of the building is tight but doable. Unfortunately, it puts you heading in the wrong direction to back in. The middle was clogged with trucks and not accessible. Trying to back in by going down the middle and backing around the corner would not work due to two cars parked in the way. I ended up having to use the dolly with help from another customer.

The owner and staff go above and beyond to help. They are awesome. They helped me as much as they could. Very satisfied with the onsite staff and owner. Highly recommend only working ONSITE not online. I want to be clear. The ONSITE people are wonderful. The OFFSITE manager should not be giving out information. I signed up online, wanted a floor level. Offsite manager told me twice after making her look that there were 2 avaiable in 2 different buildings on the floor level. Verbally verified. When I came, only the second floor was available. This is not acceptable. No elevator. My husband has had 13 knee surgeries and 1 replacement the reason I verbally verified there was a floor level. The offsite manager should not be making calls when she doesnt know the inventory. As a manager she should have notified me that there might be an issue. I would have gone there personally to make sure I had a bottom floor unit. Making phone calls to verify should be double checked with onsite availability. Very unprofessional. Thank you.

The U-Haul facility in Gearhart, Oregon is outstanding. The facility is spotlessly clean and staff is always friendly and helpful. The rate charged for my unit was below rates charged at other facilities. I highly recommend this facility.
