U-Haul Continues to Offer 30 Days Free Self-Storage and U-Box Moving and Self-Storage Containers in Preparation for Incoming Nor'easter

PHOENIX - (Nov. 7, 2012) — U-Haul International, Inc., announced today that U-Haul centers across the northeastern United States are still offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box moving and self-storage containers to Hurricane Sandy victims, and to anyone who may need to evacuate their homes or businesses in preparation for the incoming nor'easter.

With the U-Box moving and self-storage containers, you can conveniently pick up our custom-designed trailer and take your U-Box container with you. U-Haul can also store the U-Box container in our secure warehouse or even pick up and deliver it to a location of your choice.

There are many U-Haul centers that remain open for business and have much-needed supplies available to help with hurricane recovery, such as boxes, tarps, propane and propane tanks. U-Haul urges customers to stop in to ensure that their propane tanks are topped off, since propane is a good thing to have on hand in the event of long-term power outages.

In addition to the 30-days-free self-storage assistance being offered, people who need boxes can take advantage of the U-Haul Take a Box, Leave a Box Program. The program enables customers to return their reusable boxes and allows others to take them as needed – FREE. U-Haul encourages anyone who has any type of reusable box to drop it off at the nearest U-Haul location and allow another family to reuse the box, free of charge, instead of throwing the reusable box into the recycling bin.

Families needing more information about the 30-days-free self-storage assistance program should contact one the following U-Haul regional offices.

"As recovery efforts continue after Hurricane Sandy, what would be "just" a nor'easter under normal conditions is threatening to compound our neighbors' situation by inflicting more damage, stated Dennis O'Connor, vice president of U-Haul Self-Storage Operations and Marketing.  "As communities continue to pull together and execute emergency plans, U-Haul also will continue providing assistance to people during these times of uncertainty and need."
