New Showroom Opens at U-Haul of Moving & Storage of Lawrence
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 1, 2018) — U-Haul® is now welcoming customers in Lawrence to its new retail showroom at 6800 Pendleton Pike, site of a former home improvement center that is being repurposed as a state-of-the-art self-storage facility.
The opening of the retail showroom marks the latest phase and most recent addition to U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lawrence. The showroom is approximately 2,500 square feet, or triple the space of the closing retail showroom at the much smaller U-Haul Storage of Lawrence, a nearby facility at 8550 Pendleton Pike that will continue to serve self-storage customers but will be run remotely by the new store.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lawrence was acquired in December 2017. When adaptive reuse of the property is finished, it will offer 919 self-storage units with high-tech security features and indoor climate-control options. There will also be exterior drive-up self-storage available.
“The customer experience at this new store will be unmatched,” said Anthony Jones, U-Haul Company of Central Indiana president. “We have a customer waiting area; model self-storage rooms; state-of-the-art security; more products and boxes on display; a wider variety of bike racks and accessories; updated walls showcasing our many hitch options; and much more.”
Jones expects to hire a staff of 15 or more Team Members when the facility is fully operational – about double the number that were employed at U-Haul Storage of Lawrence prior to the close of its showroom. U-Haul will look to hire locally to promote job growth within Indianapolis.
“We have also acquired the former lumber yard next door,” Jones noted. “That 3.8-acre property will allow us to soon offer customers covered RV, boat and vehicle storage.”
