Matt Merrill Named ADVP of District 5
PROSPER, Texas (Oct. 11, 2018) — Matt Merrill has been promoted to area district vice president of District 5, which encompasses seven U-Haul marketing companies across Texas.
U-Haul CEO Joe Shoen and Executive Vice President Bob Willson made the announcement. Merrill assumed his new position on Oct. 8.
“District 5 has a great team, and I’m looking forward to working with each Team Member,” Merrill said. “I’m eager to focus on our key programs and increase our level of customer service. As a team, we will position ourselves to serve more customers by building up our dealer network and expanding our self-storage footprint in underserved markets.”
As ADVP, Merrill will oversee MCOs 733, 740, 741, 835, 836, 859 and 884.
Merrill’s 12-plus years with U-Haul include two stints, the first of which began in 2002 as a customer service representative at U-Haul Moving & Storage at Hwy. 14 in Lake Charles, La. He went on to serve as an assistant general manager and area field manager in Louisiana through 2006.
When Merrill rejoined U-Haul in 2010, he returned to his AFM role for nearly two years before earning the title of marketing company president in 2012. As MCP of 746, U-Haul Company of West Houston, Merrill produced outstanding results for more than six years prior to his most recent promotion.
“I selected Matt for District 5 ADVP based on his proven leadership,” Willson said. “He is results-driven and has a proven track record in each of his previous positions.
“Matt possesses a thorough understanding of U-Haul objectives and knows how to communicate with his team to drive our Primary Service Objective. I look forward to working with Matt, and I’m confident District 5 will produce great results under his direction.”
