HALIFAX, N.S. (July 10, 2019) — U-Haul® recently acquired the former RONA® hardware store located at 350 Horseshoe Lake Drive to better meet the moving and self-storage demands of Halifax residents.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Halifax is offering truck and trailer sharing, U-Box® portable storage containers, moving supplies and more from a temporary showroom. U-Haul acquired the 99,620-square-foot building on June 12.

Adaptive reuse of the property will yield more than 700 indoor self-storage rooms with climate-controlled options and high-tech security features at affordable price points. The 11.04-acre site will also offer U-Haul Remote 24/7® access for self-storage customers, towing accessories and professional hitch installation, propane, a U-Haul Re-Use center for gently used household furnishings to be shared amongst the community, the Take A Box Leave A Box program, and more.

When the location is fully operational, Higgs expects to employ at least 10 Team Members. U-Haul will look to hire locally to promote job growth within Halifax.

Acquisition of the property was driven by U-Haul Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill developments to help local communities lower its carbon footprint.
