U-Haul of Park Hills Brings New Self-Storage Option to Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. (Nov. 10, 2015) — U-Haul is working to revitalize Pennsylvania communities with new stores through corporate sustainability initiatives. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Park Hills at 1 Golfview Drive is the latest example of adaptive reuse in Altoona.

The property, stationed south of Interstate 99 at exit 31 Plank Road, was last home to a distribution facility for a pharmaceutical company. It encompasses 7.5 acres and showcases a 115,909-square-foot building that is being transformed into a full-service U-Haul store.

Altoona residents can currently take advantage of truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies and U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers. In early 2016, the first 400 climate-controlled storage units are slated to be available for customer use. There will be more than 1,000 storage units available for rent when construction is completed.

“This location will be the absolute premier storage in Altoona and the surrounding area, including thousands of square feet of climate-controlled storage, drive-in loading and unloading,” U-Haul Company of Harrisburg president Chris Schaffer said. “In addition, we will have individually alarmed rooms, video surveillance and great customer service, providing what no one else can in the area.

“This store means a real storage solution to customers seeking clean, dry and secure storage.”

The acquisition of the Altoona location was driven by U-Haul Company’s Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint.
