U-Haul Caters to Storage Customers at New Highway 64 Store

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Nov. 19, 2015) — U-Haul Company’s adaptive reuse of a former American Mini Storage facility led to the recent opening of U-Haul Moving & Storage on Highway 64, located at 7399 Hwy. 64 in Memphis.

U-Haul Moving & Storage on Highway 64 offers more than 500 storage rooms, including 92 climate-controlled units, and 66 RV parking spaces on the six-acre property. Truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies and electronic access to storage also are available.

“This is a great community and it’s an important part of the city,” U-Haul Company of Memphis president Carol George said. “The most exciting part of opening any new location is satisfying the customer’s needs for moving and storage in a specific area. When we can offer more products and services within their general area, it saves the customer money and reduces the environmental impact of planet resources.”

General manager April Oates noted there has been a tremendous amount of positive customer feedback since the store’s opening.

U-Haul upgraded the security system with new cameras and extensive lighting improvements since assuming control. U-Haul closed Feb. 24 on the property, which encompasses 10 one-story storage buildings and more than 76,000 net rentable square feet.

The acquisition of U-Haul Moving & Storage on Highway 64 was driven by U-Haul Company’s Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.

“We are dedicated to providing our goods and services in areas that lack them, while reducing our carbon footprint,” Oates commented. “Everyone wins.”
