Northwest Oregon Flood Victims Offered 30 Days Free Self-Storage and U-Box

PORTLAND, Ore. (Dec. 9, 2015) — The U-Haul Companies of Western Oregon and Eastern Oregon are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to residents affected by the flooding in Portland Metro, Vancouver (Wash.), the North Coast and surrounding areas.

Northwest Oregon has been saturated by continuous storms this week, including a record 3.2 inches of rainfall over a 24-hour stretch on Monday. Another three inches fell on Tuesday and more rain is in the forecast.

“It rains here all the time, but we don’t get a lot of rain at one time – and that’s the problem,” U-Haul Company of Western Oregon president David Scheafer said. “We’ve had people calling us already, city officials, asking if we can do anything. We’ve built a lot of new storage here. We want to offer relief to victims of this flooding.

“Some people need to move out of their homes. Some have limited access to their belongings and are having to go back in and clean out their homes. U-Haul can be a place to store their things while they’re dealing with that.”

With U-Box containers, you can conveniently pick up our custom-designed trailer and take your U-Box container with you. U-Haul also can store your U-Box container in our secure warehouses or even pick up and deliver it to a location of your choice.

U-Haul stores have much-needed supplies to help with storm recovery such as boxes, tarps, propane and propane tanks. U-Haul urges customers to ensure that their tanks are topped off since propane is good to have on hand in the event of long-term power outages.

The program enables customers to return their reusable boxes and allows others to take them as needed – FREE.
