Michael Finkelstein Named President of U-Haul Company of Baltimore
BALTIMORE – (Jan. 04, 2012) Executive Vice President (EVP) Chuck Hertzler and Area District Vice President (ADVP) Frank D'Abarno jointly announced today that Michael Finkelstein has been promoted to marketing company president (MCP) of U-Haul Company of Baltimore.
Finkelstein began his U-Haul career in October 1979 as a customer service representative (CSR) at Westview Moving Center, where he worked for several months before transferring to Belair Road Moving Center as a CSR. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to general manager (GM) of Belair Road Moving Center and held that position for more than a year before becoming a traffic control manager (TCM) for U-Haul Company of Maryland. In May 1982, Finkelstein was promoted to area field manager (AFM) for
U-Haul Company of Maryland, and less than a year later became a moving center auditor trainee at that company. In December 1983, Finkelstein again became a GM and held the position at more than five U-Haul Centers throughout U-Haul Company of Maryland and U-Haul Company of Metro D.C. In March 1986, Finkelstein tried his hand as a center sales manager, a position he held for more than a year before becoming a GM again. From 1989 on, Finkelstein held a variety of positions including assistant to the president, technical support specialist, shop manager, and also several he had held previously, such as GM and AFM, senior AFM and TCM. In February 2011, Finkelstein served as executive assistant (EA) for U-Haul Company of Maryland, before transferring in March, as EA, to U-Haul Company of Metro D.C., the position he held until his recent promotion. Today, Finkelstein will oversee all operations of UHC of Baltimore, including truck, trailer and storage rentals. His wealth of U-Haul experience and proven leadership skills will drive his team at U-Haul Company of Baltimore to success.
“We are very pleased to have someone of Michael’s caliber to oversee the operations of U-Haul Company of Baltimore,” declared ADVP D’Abarno. “He is a highly qualified professional and will help ensure that this office will comply and adhere to company policies and procedures. Michael’s enthusiasm will help us achieve our goals."
In assuming his new role as president, Finkelstein is looking forward to having the opportunity to help people succeed, and explains that whether it’s U-Haul Team members or customers, he really enjoys helping out any way he can. Now, serving as president for U-Haul Company of Baltimore, he believes he will be able to reach more people than ever before, and is eager to help make a difference. Finkelstein stressed that U-Haul Company of Baltimore has resourceful, intelligent people who are capable of success, and he explains that his goal is to provide his team members with the knowledge and tools they need to bring their company to the top. Finkelstein wants to get back to the basics, and plans to focus on utilizing product displays to the max. He also plans on making sure that his CSRs are informing U-Haul customers of every available service at all times.
“In life and in business, I feel good knowing that I am able to help someone grow to reach their goals,” Finkelstein explained. “Beware of U-Haul Company of Baltimore! With the right people in the right positions, there is no stopping us! I know that my team is up for the challenge.”
