Canton Customers Welcome New U-Haul Store to Football Capital

 NORTH CANTON, Ohio (Jan. 19 , 2016) — U-Haul has repurposed and renovated a former arts and crafts center to make way for U-Haul Moving & Storage of North Canton.

The 26.71-acre property at 5655 Whipple Ave. NW includes seven buildings and 397,362 square feet of space. Customers can currently take advantage of truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies and towing equipment including hitch and wiring installation. U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers are available well as parking for RV, boat and vehicle storage.

General manager Jessi Beck and her team will be able to offer state-of-the-art storage units when construction is completed in this spring.

“More and more people are realizing we are here and are stopping in,” Beck said. “Customers have been really happy with our service.”

The store began serving customers one year ago after U-Haul acquired the property last January.

“The area is a very busy, fast-paced community,” U-Haul Company of Akron president Alissa Nider said. “We are very happy to be in this city and be a part of its growth.”

The property used to house the Flower Factory. Its location is near the new Tom Benson Stadium and Pro Football Hall of Fame, steering a number of diehard sports fans and travelers along with local do-it-yourself movers into the store.

“The location is great,” Beck noted. “We have a lot of traffic that comes from nearby Highway 77. People can see one of our buildings from all different directions.”

The acquisition of the North Canton facility was driven by U-Haul Company’s Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint.
