U-Haul at Belair Road Expands to Offer Self-Storage Options

BALTIMORE (June 20, 2016) — For nearly 40 years, residents of northeastern Baltimore have relied on U-Haul at Belair Road for their truck and trailer rentals, towing equipment and moving supplies.

Starting June 17, U-Haul customers started calling on this trusted location at 4650 Belair Road for their self-storage needs as well. The acquisition and renovation of a former DePalo & Sons restaurant wholesale supply warehouse allowed U-Haul at Belair Road, a proud staple of the community since 1977, to begin offering self-storage to its customers.

“I’ve been here for eight years and I can’t tell you how many customers asked why we didn’t have storage at our location,” general manager Teara Pipkins said. “Now this place is a one-stop shop. Our customers can securely store their belongings here instead of having to go somewhere else.”

The addition features a 15,460-square-foot building with a selection of 259 indoor storage units. U-Haul also offers propane, professional hitch installation and much more at 4650 Belair Road.

Contact U-Haul at Belair Road at (410) 325-1550 or stop by to check out our self-storage units. Hours of operation are 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Saturday; 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Reserve equipment at uhaul.com or contact Reservations at 1-800-GO-UHAUL.

“This building was becoming a source of blight for the community and we’re happy to turn it around,” U-Haul Company of Baltimore president Mike Finkelstein said. “We’ve done numerous upgrades to the building, including installing new energy-saving windows, lights and heating and air conditioning.”

The acquisition of the new self-storage property was driven by U-Haul Company’s Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
