U-Haul of Amelia Island to Offer Covered RV, Boat and Vehicle Storage
FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. (July 5, 2016) — U-Haul is putting its sustainability initiatives to use by renovating and repurposing a once-vacant Staples® location to provide Amelia Island residents with more moving and storage options.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Amelia Island at 1830 S. 8th St. will soon add 43 covered spaces where customers can safely store their motorhomes, boats and other vehicles. The spaces will include individual electrical hookup as well as an on-site dump station.
“The covered parking will be a nice addition to this neighborhood,” U-Haul Company of Jacksonville president Shalon Lillard said. “Having a secure storage space for RVs and boats is very important to the locals here.”
The S. 8th Street location, which was acquired in 2014, currently offers truck and trailer rentals, self-storage, towing equipment and professional hitch installation, U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers, moving supplies, propane and more.
The acquisition of the Fernandina Beach facility was driven by U-Haul Company’s Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
“The Yulee and Fernandina Beach areas are growing, and we want to be able to offer U-Haul products and services to meet the demand of a great community,” Lillard said. “U-Haul will be able to provide great convenience to the Amelia Island suburbs and businesses with the addition of this 6.88-acre property.”
