U-Haul at Telegraph Closed in Detroit after 38 Years
DETROIT (Aug. 15, 2016) — U-Haul at Telegraph, a company-owned and -operated store that had been serving do-it-yourself patrons in the Motor City since 1978, closed its doors back on April 1, U-Haul Company of Detroit announced.
The closed entity was located at 18270 Telegraph Road, just south of Grand River Avenue and adjacent to Grand Lawn Cemetery on the northwest side of town.
Local U-Haul Companies are always exploring opportunities for growth but sometimes close or relocate stores for reasons such as long-term strategic plans; physical plant limitations; shifts in demographics; trends in migration; expansion of the U-Haul neighborhood dealer network; and the proximity of other new or existing U-Haul stores.
Customers of this closed store can select from six U-Haul-owned stores and nine neighborhood dealers within a five-mile radius to have their moving and self-storage needs met. The nearest location is U-Haul Moving & Storage of NW Detroit, less than a mile away at 19990 Telegraph Road.
