Welcome to the installation video of the CURT 13073 class 3 trailer hitch for the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. To give you a better view of the installation, we are using a lift. Like most installations, this vehicle does not need to be elevated for the install. We estimate this installation to take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your level of expertise.

These are the tools necessary for the install:
Ratchet, ratchet extension, 10mm socket, 5/8” socket, 11/16” socket, 18mm socket, swivel socket, pry bar, torque wrench, screwdriver, measuring tape, aviation shears, marking pen, utility knife.

First, lower and remove the spare tire for ease of installation. Next, lower the exhaust by removing the three rubber isolators located here. You may want to use a spray lubricant or soapy water. Make sure to ease the removal process. Next remove the heat shield by locating and removing the 3 nuts and 1 bolt located here. Mark the heat shield by marking off approximately 8” that was along the inside of the frame rail. Trim the marked section. Reattach the heat shield with the 3 nuts removed in the previous step.

Raise the hitch into position by raising the passenger side first using extra care not to damage the exhaust or the finish of the hitch. If the fascia prevents the hitch from being raised you’ll need to trim it. Mark the Fashia corresponding to the center of the hitch. Measuring  an inch and 5/8 on each side of center to get your width and measure roughly an inch and 1/4 to get your cut depth. Once marked trim the taped off section. Raise the hitch into position by raising the passenger side first using extra care not to damage the exhaust or the finish of the hitch. Secure the hitch by using the M-10 bolts 7/16” conical tooth washers. Install the 4 ½” x 7/16” and washer from the inside of the driver side frame rail. Secure with the supplied hex flange nut. Repeat the process from the opposing side.

Now that all the hardware is in place torque the fasteners to that specified in the supplied instruction sheet. Now reattach the exhaust and raise the spare tire. This completes the installation of the CURT 13073 Class 3 trailer hitch for the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe.
