2019 Dodge Durango installation steps
1. Access the weld nuts
If you have a gasoline engine, accessing the weld nuts requires lowering the spare tire underneath the vehicle. Drivers with a diesel engine will need to lower the diesel exhaust tank. Refer to the instruction manual that came with your hitch for more information.
2. Lower the spare tire
Open the rear cargo compartment and uncover the spare tire tools. Remove the floor mat and clip from the bottom of the compartment. Use the spare tire tools to lower the spare tire. This will give you access to the bolts and weld nuts underneath the vehicle.
3. Remove the bolts from the weld nuts
Using the power drill fitted with the 21mm socket, remove the four bolts screwed into the weld nuts on the frame. There are two located on the passenger side and driver side. Set these aside in a safe place, as you’ll be using them again to attach the hitch.
4. Position the hitch
Position the hitch underneath the car so that the vertical mounting flanges on the ends of the hitch are lined up with the existing weld nuts. Be sure the vertical flanges are on the inside of the spare tire trim.
5. Attach the hitch
Reinsert the bolts into the weld nuts. Tighten them by hand so the hitch remains in place and they thread correctly. Once the bolts are in place, tighten them with the power drill fitted with the 21mm socket.
6. Torque the hitch
Torque each bolt to 115 ft. lb. using the torque wrench fitted with the 21mm socket. The wrench should make a clicking sound after reaching the correct amount of torque. Return the spare tire to its previous position and put away the tools.
You should now have your Draw-Tite 75713 trailer hitch installed on your 2019 Dodge Durango.
