This twenty percent of renters should be wooed with discount's, preference, and availability because they are the bread and butter of the business. The attendant was rude. He appeared to be under the influence. Every time a customer came in, he stopped my transaction to tend to that. Took 2 hours to leave with the vehicle. You should have only U-Haul locations instead of allowing your vehicles rented at a gas station.Ashley B.
I was supposed to pick up a U-Haul from this location, well when I got there I got the keys , and was about to leave and I find out the side door is broken. So now we need to transfer to another one WHICH TOOK 40 MINS and also made me late . The new van had barely any gas as well. So I finally pull off the lot a whole hour later and the employee was supposed to note that I would be bringing it back at the time I left.. (9:30).. nope! That ain't go that way either. Making the online reservation was easy but picking up the truck was horrible. The people are rude and unprofessional. Information didn't align with what was on the website. Took close to 1 hour just to pickup the truck. Gas not full as recorded. Tires pressure low. After 30 minutes said he would charge to 3/4 full but didn't. We returned it with more gas than we used but they charged me $11. Took pictures to document everything but they have not amended the bill. Never use this smoke sho to conduct business.Bonnie R.

First off I was told to park my car in a spot and when I returned to my vehicle it was gone!! TOWEDâ€¼ï¸ I AM LIVID!! Second the truck was FILTHY AND TRIFLING!! When I say it was beyond belief. I have pics and hope I can post them. The truck Reached of cigarettes and FUNK! Trash was everywhere in the truck. The seats was even dirty and hairy. And wait A entire Water bottle filled with PISSâ€¦. UHAUL should be sued for all of my frustrations and all the money I spent for this â€œ$51.00 trip to a $280 trip! I will be calling and complaining to UHAUL corporate store and also Sonoco MAIN street Newark de corporate also!! This has been thee worst experience EVER!! The truck smelled like someone was actually living or sleeping in there with a cat and smoking cigarettes all night. I was totally PISSED!! If it not hadda been a emergency I would have canceled and went somewhere else. The staff here SUCKS! The service SUCKS!! They give UHAUL a horrible reputation! As I am a new resident to Delaware and had no idea about this place. I guess it was the closest. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I will also be contacting the LOCAL NEWS station because they are running a scam with the The towing company. The muslim guy who looks like he's in his 20's was the one with the NASTY attitude. Not only was I upset with him but he had been very disrespectful towards a young lady who is about to become a cop. She called someone to the store since he was Soooo disrespect. The guy told him to watch his mouth when talking to people especially Woman and that hell be back. This Sunoco is Dangerous. That man need to be fired ASAP, because he will cause someone to really come and hurt him because he's sooooo RUDE. He told me he was the manager but sever College kids and locals came in the store and said that he's Soo nasty and to count your change smh this is unbelievable. JUST PLEASE DO NOT RENT A UHAUL TRUCK OR SHOP AT THE SUNOCO ON MAIN STREET IN NEWARK DE! They are scammers. Yes I say that because the store clerk who rented me the uhaul told me where to park my vehicle and when I returned my vehicle was gone. I hope someone contacts me about these issues asap. Oh and the clerk also apologized when I first picked the truck up and took him the pictures that I took because I couldn't believe the trifling conditions of the truck. And the pee bottle just topes it off. He then spayed something and I asked what it was and it read blunt affect. Smh that helped the smell a little but then I'm driving on the eway and the wheel starts shaking I mean bad I them had to take the street which made me pay Extra miles smh man I can go On and on but ima just stop here. DONT RENT YOUR UHAUL FROM SUNOCO GAS STATION ON MAIN STREET IN NEWARK DELAWARE THE TRUCKS ARE FILFY. THE STAFF IS HORRIBLE! They deliberately told me to park in a spot where they new I would get towed because I was a out of towner. I know this was a whole story but I hope this helps you when choosing a location to pick up your uhaul. Just read the reviews on the uhaul website about this store. Wish k would have read it before I rented it from this dumb. Uhaul needs to cancel their contract because it makes your company look Extremely bad, unprofessional and dirty. Overall it's still COVID the truck should have been inspected before I pulled off. They didn't even have the exact amount of gas the truck had when I picked it up, because they asked me what was the gas on when I got it because it wasn't recorded just don't rent here and go somewhere besides A uhaul pickup spot they don't inspect their vehicles before or after. Poor customer service - attendant is slow, equipment used to complete transactions slow, frequent interruptions from convenience store customer purchases. I was charged twice for my rental and one of the charges was credited back to me after I raised the issue. I was told I could only get an emailed receipt but it never came through to my email. The store clerk told me to call uhaul. There was a 30 minute wait and I could not be on the phone long enough to deal with the matter. Never got a receipt.Shivaun J.

The original U-Haul location was closed when I arrived at 1000 so I had to call U-Haul and locate a different office. The gentleman that assisted me at the Sunoco wasn't the happiest and I felt like he was just rushing me to get out of the store. I did remain calm and took into consideration that it was 1 Jan and he was probably having a bad morning.JESSE M.

The order included 2 furniture dollies; none were at the location. This is a small shop at a gas station, and the single person there would stop checking out the U-Haul whenever a customer wanted gas, chips, soda, etc. What is usually a 7 minute thing took close to an hour. Even though I had an account with my reservation, driver's license, etc. the person acted as if there was no account. The truck has a cracked windshield, which wasn't great but pretty much a non-issue.Scott D.

I was guaranteed a van at $.69 a mile. When I arrived the man at the counter said he only had a truck which was $.99 a mile. This made the quoted price much higher. U-Haul guarantees $50 if your rental is not available. I did not receive this.FRANCESCA C.
Rented a van and the representative said I could return it to any uhaul place. The first place I went to , I asked a few questions and the gentleman through the keys at me and kicked me out of the establishment. The 2nd place I went to, they acted like I did not exist, so I had to take the van back to where I originally rented it from. I was very disappointed with the service.ANGEL C.

I rented a ten foot truck for about two hours to pick up a couch. Drove a total of 20 miles. Upon returning the truck, I put three gallons of gas in it at this very same Sunoco that rents the trucks which brought the fuel up to just shy of 3/4 tank which was just a bit more than It had originally. I than parked it outback for them where I got it from and returned the key to the guy behind the counter. Instead of going out to check the truck and record the mileage and fuel like the uhaul reps usually do, he asked if I had a picture of the fuel/mileage. I took one before I left of the mileage/gas but forgot to take one when I returned it. It was late and I was trying to get home quickly because I had to work and forgot. I told him I just filled it up and drove exactly 20 miles and it was parked outback so he could verify. He said ok, than I asked if I was good to go or if I needed to sign anything and he said I was good so I left. About 5 mins into my drive home I get the receipt emailed to me and pull it up on my phone. The guy that I returned the key to, put that I returned the truck with an 1/8 of a tank of gas instead of 3/4 and charged me for 16gal of gas at their rate and a fuel service fee of $30 for a total of $103.62 extra! I turned around and went right back to this place. Of course the guy behind the counter wasn't the same guy now. It was however the guy I picked it up from so I explained what the other guy did and we went out to the truck and I showed him myself and made sure I took a picture. He called his â€œmanagerâ€ and told him what happened and told me it would be taken care of in the morning. Well it's been 48 hours now and the money was taken from my Bank account and I haven't received anything from uhaul or this Sunoco station apologizing for the blatant scam this guy tried to pull on me nor a refund for the fuel. Calling the corporate number now to get this resolved. Beware!MATTHEW F.
There was an issue returning the rental truck with my phone. The website would not proceed past step 4 to submit a location photo. The representative inside the neighborhood location was very helpful and helped take care of the return. One major issue was with the drop off location - the mileage and gas reading must be taken on a flat surface, otherwise the full gauge read 1/8 a tank less which could cause some customers to falsely overfill of be overbilled for less fuel.ANDREW M.

Better explanation as to how 24/7 works up front. Better explanation as to how contract works. Give 3-4 days notification as to where to pick up truck. Location had no blankets. Customer Service agent was difficult to understand their English language.Gary F.

Yet again, the 24/7 mobile app was a fail. The signal strength was ok, but I was misinformed. The app told me that there was a drop box for the keyâ€”there wasn't. I went inside and the Sunoco guy told me that he handles it. It seemed to work ok, but I wasn't 100% confident that I was doing the right thing. Overall, a needlessly stressful experience, from the â€œno guarantee of a vehicleâ€ clause to the bad mobile interface to the fact that the truck didn't have the blankets I rented to the HOURS that I was put on hold to sort the situation.Gregory A.

Truck was in good condition overall, the display was showing low tire pressure for the LR tire, I checked the tire and it looked to be in good condition. I also got a tighten gas cap warning and retightened the cap and didn't see the warning again. These items should've been taken care of before pick up or have been told about it if items were scheduled to be taken care of and to let customers know the warnings wouldn't affect their trip.Gabriel M.
