DO NOT RENT A UBOX FROM UHAUL! The communication around providing any information about the UBox location and expected delivery is terrible. Multiple U-Haul locations and various employees had no way of knowing where, when, or even if we could expect arrival of the UBox. They use unreliable 3rd Party carriers that give very little information to UHaul and do not communicate to scheduling, UBox support, or any other customer facing facet of U-Haul. If U-Haul is going to use 3rd Party carriers to move these units across the country, they need to develop tracking systems and avenues for communication between UBox support staff and those carriers. Provide customers with timely updates and communicate when delays are expected. I had no communication from U-Haul, whatsoever, despite calling almost daily. 10 + days of delays without a single shred of knowledge about my UBox. Numerous employees promised to return my call, but none of them did so. Also a recommendation to adjust the expectations you set for when a UBox is delivered. Change the information on your website and do not advertise times that are not even close to being achievable. Set clear and realistic expectations for your customer's around when a UBox is â€œscheduledâ€ to arrive. My box was over a week delayed, despite being advertised as a quick affair. I was also promised compensation for every day of delay and have not seen a penny of that. I'm sure I'll have to call in and spend many more hours on the phone with staff who are untrained and uncaring to help customers solve their issues.CHRISTOPHER RAY R.

I received notifications about drop off and pick up hours after they already happened. And my boxes were delivered late because they said they called to verify, I didn't answer, so they moved the delivery date 4 days later. My phone didn't show a missed call, and I didn't have a message. So I find it hard to believe they called.Renick G.
I was not recomended the correct number of containers. I was in need of three additional containers which U-Haul did get but at a cost. U-Haul more then doubled my cost which I had no choice to pay so I could get my things back. The people were awsome and willing to work with me within the U-haul system. Do NOT use the uhaul pods for moving. I had a horrible experience. The pod arrived damage for load in - making it very difficult to shut the door fully. I put a padlock on each door so that they couldn't just be opened for someone to access my things. The pickup for my pods to be moved was late - I only found this out because I called for an update on shipping. It was slated to be there 5 days later than originally scheduled. When I asked for tracking info, they said they only know when they get picked up and delivered and don't have tracking info or a time frame of when they would arrive. Luckily I realized I had an AirTag in my bag that was in one of the pods, so I was able to track it that way. When they arrived at my destination, the pod that was already damaged no longer had the locking mechanism on it because the screw for the mount had come completely out of the wooden ubox frame. The items in my second pod were completely shifted around and had fallen all over the place. If I was able to upload photos, I would. It was horrible. The CS agent that I spoke with initially only offered two boxes and didn't really inquire about large items being shipped. For example, a 2 bedroom for one person can have a lot more furniture than the next depending on whether they have dressers or just beds and the size of those items. Also, it would be nice for them to use a reference as to the size of each box so once can have a better idea of the size. Fortunately for me I asked for one more box before I ended the call, otherwise I would have been screwed.Regina W.

I absolutely loved the Ubox to send multiple items to a different location. The service over all was excellent. The annoying part was that I was receiving a call from staff almost weekly, to learn that the person I spoke with before regarding details of pick-up and delivery did not document the arrangements so I had to repeat myself frequently and this caused unnecessary stress and worry and I became angry. this was not customer service it bordered on harassment. The company was amazing! Had our ubox for over a year, and had monthly reminders of payment. Never contacted us for no reason and checked in when needed. It was easy to schedule our drop off and pick up. If I ever need them again, they will be my top pick everytime. Great job Uhaul!!!!Shawnta D.
Not one employee ever knew what was going on. I would schedule to look in my boxes and they where never out. The warehouse employees would come tell me and my family that they where closing early 20 minutes before and expect us to HURRY and pack everything back in a rush so they could put the boxes back in the warehouse. They were always rude, no manners, no business etiquette. Horrible service. From beginning to the end. I was also told that when I empty my boxes that's when I tell the employees so I don't get charged the following month. Instead I was already charged a month ahead so i paid for a whole month of no use. This was horrible.Jonathan or Jane D.

My Whole Experience was Not up to the Expectations that I thought. When I was Originally Quoted for a UBox I gave the Measurements if what I had to Move and they were Way off. They said 1 Box would be Plenty of Room It was Not Needed 2. The Delivery was Later then the Original date they said they would Deliver and I had Movers to Schedule on the Original Date of Delivery. So my Daughter and I had to do all the Loading ourselves which was Extremely Hard since she had a Upstairs Apt. Delivery Date to be in in Chico, Ca was Different. When I went to Call for a Pick up of Box after we unloaded they gave a different Date. Then the Next date they Gave it was Still Not Picked up. There Excuse was they Only have 1 Truck to Pick up Boxes and it was Broke down. In the mean time my daughters New Apt. was Not Happy the Box was there for over 6 days in there Parking lot. The biggest mistake I ever have made , you are the poorest run company I have ever seen !One mistake turns into 5 , it continues for months into different disasters ! This experience was as painless as a moving experience can be. The Ubox delivery worked out so much better than driving a trailer across the country. I especially appreciated the care the Ubox got traveling in an air-cushioned semi. The family antiques needed this and all arrived in excellent shape. Thank you!Nancy F.
You dropped off 5 pods and 1 of them belonged to someone else, I got the last one delivered the next day after the movers left. It cost me 100.00 to have them come back 4 hours later. Called U haul to see if they could cover the cost. Was told a manager would call me back and no call back. Will think twice before I use U Haul again.Brian B.

This experience is not one I would never recommend. Originally when I got the box it was in great condition. They dropped off early they picked up late everything was great. It wasn't until I received my belongings, my U-Haul box came with a totally different lock and it was confusing to the point I thought I received the wrong box. Not only did they put a different lock on it the U-Haul box itself was in terrible condition the locks were all mangled and the door looks as if it was pried open. When I called U-Haul they had no explanation and no one knew the combination it was not until two days later a representative called with a combination. There were no notes on what happened to my box I was just told it arrived like that and no one notified me. This experience was disappointing.Jennifer L.
The drop-off and pick up in AZ was seamless and went smoothly. Great communication and follow through. The drop off when arrived in Woodstock for delivery to Alpharetta was terrible. First, they scheduled delivery on Thanksgiving. When I asked if this could be changed, I was told no. So, we set up movers to unload. Not easy to do for Thanksgiving. I then get a call on Wednesday morning to deliver that day as they didn't want to deliver on Thanksgiving. I agreed to the delivery and rescheduled the movers, to only sit at the house until 7pm while no one showed up. I called the Woodstock location and was told they must have been running late and would drop off on Thursday. Once again, I had movers at the house and no one showed up or called. I called once again only to be told they won't be delivering that day and it would be Friday. So, once again I'm scrambling to set up movers on Friday. The whole experience was stressful and had there been proper communication it would have at least helped with the delivery around the holidays. Truthfully, there should be a refund if some sort for the time changes that were incurred and the stress of having to deal with all the schedule changes, not due to our fault. Delivery and initial pick up for storage of the UBoxes was amazing. Really well done. The issue came on delivery of the UBoxes back to my home and pick up after emptying. When delivering the boxes from storage, they were late. We were told 3 different times that the boxes had been picked up from storage and they were on their way. And all 3 times the boxes had in fact not been picked up. It took me speaking to a supervisor (Gary), who was amazing and truthful, to get a straight answer. The boxes were in fact not picked up and they were at storage still and the storage staff had not staged them like they should have. Then when we were to have our empty boxes picked up, the truck broke down and the driver did not start their route until after 3 p.m. Which is fine, but I wish someone had told us that instead of having to call to find out what was going on and why it was past 5 p.m. (the deadline given) and the boxes were still there. Communication could be better here. I understand that your CSR agents have visibility into a limited amount of info, but for the customer receiving a full picture of the situation would have helped to curve the anxiety and frustration.Claudia B.

Our goods got a pretty good shaking being loaded, unloaded, reloaded and unloaded again and I'm told they can be jostled quite a bit. Also, it was really hard for the office staff to figure out how I wanted my boxes returned. The drivers got it immediately, but I had to explain it 3 different times to 3 different people in the office. I appreciate that they wanted to get it right, but it took a lot of my time.Brian C.
The box did not arrive as promised. The manager told me that I would receive $50.00 per day for the lateness. I have not received any money as of this date. When it did arrive, I arranged for a day and time to access the box. I even had a confirmation number. When I arrived at the time that I said I would arrive the box was not outside as promised. Someone put the box back in the building and I had to wait for someone to bring it back out. Once outside, I removed the lock but couldn't open the box because it had 2 bolts holing the door shut. Now I had to waste more time waiting for someone to remove the bolts. The young man that was at this location was as helpful as he could be but he seemed overwhelmed. I can't properly answer all of the questions above because I had no experience with the Tempe location, I chose the number of boxes, the person that drove to fork-truck at the Mesa location to put my box outside was not very friendly but the young man that worked there was very helpful. The entire process was a disaster. The box was in storage for three months during the summer break from college. The location could not get the process of auto payment correct until the final month. When it came time to pick up the box, we arrived at the location and were told that the u-box was not at the location and we must go to the warehouse location. Then after emptying the box and turning the equipment in. I was still charged for the equipment because the location failed to mark the equipment as turned in. So the takeaway is next year, when it's time to store my daughter's stuff during the summer break, I will be looking elsewhere.Christopher E.
I'm sure that that can be Ubox location is very busy with many orders however my experience as a customer was subpar. After making the reservation, if I had any difficulties or questions, it was very hard to reach customer service or I was talking to employees who might have been new and were unable to provide valuable assistance. I left voicemails I sent emails for resolving My issue.This led to me being overcharged for over five months even after my service contract had ended. The unexpected costs of the U-Haul experience obstructed my already very tight finances. Communication. None at all. I was under the impression my boxes were being stored at the location I was working with which was Queen Creek location on Hunt Highway and said they would be there. Then was moved to Tempe without my knowledge. Waited 4 days for my boxes to get which was Monday. No communication from U-Haul on what was up with that until I called after being on hold for an hour. My belongings finally arrived on Thursday. U-Haul called on the next Monday to ask if my boxes are ready to be picked up I told them yes they were scheduled to be picked up Tuesday morning. When I got home from work Tuesday night they were still sitting in the driveway had to call Wednesday morning I was told that the pickup couldn't be complete and was pushed back to the next day still no call from U-Haul to let me know that. Overall was the worst experience I've ever had with U-Haul I won't be recommending or using U-Haul again. Still waiting on a call from a manager from that location. The situation probably would have been a lot better if I was communicated with that way I didn't have to deal with so much inconvenience of having to reschedule help with unloading my boxes.Amy S.
The box arrived in Evanston days late and I did not receive the credit that was shown in your internal notes. At some point the cube must have been dropped as there were many broken items. Not the experience that I saw on the example of the smoothness of the truck. Per the notes on the cube, it went from AZ to NJ then back to IL. The Evanston staff was great, I had not been informed that I had to make a reservation to unload there and they explained. I never met the AZ people as the cube was delivered and picked up when I was not there. They didn't put in the correct spot and it was a pain getting it loaded. If you review the notes, it was supposed to be right in front of the front door, and they put it on the side of the house. I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone.Laurie A.
It was horrible trying to work with your customer service people to get my boxes to their location on time. They changed my pickup date without contacting me and then the boxes came days later than even that new date. I'd made very specific plans to ensure that I had help in a new city the day the UBox was SUPPOSED to arrive, but instead, I had to spend hundreds more dollars having the thing unpacked by movers because of the delays. This location DOESNT ANSWER THEIR PHONE. It's business hours. There's no answering machine, no being put on hold. Just rings 6 times and hangs up on you. It's infuriating. This was one of the most disorganized transactions I have ever dealt with. The date to pick up the boxes from the 1st house was delayed multiple times, the day to drop off the boxes at the second house was delayed even more times than the first. The website wouldn't allow me to make changes in an attempt to correct my dates and I ended up having the same conversation with 4 different people on 4 different days after hours of time spent on hold to communicate the address of the second house. No one person is to blame, but the scheduling system is very flawed and needs addressed. I would have been better off loading up my car and driving back and forth to the houses 20+ times. Not to mention the compensation for the delays has yet to hit my account. I have been and will continue looking for a refund. The saving grace was the support staff who fought an uphill battle against the tracking system. They were very accomodating.. My box was good hands however I was not told that they moved my box from Sun Lakes to Tempe and I only found out about it when I went to make my monthly rent payment. I should have been notified and I had to call Tempe U-haul to find out why my U-haul box was moved. Was told my box had to be moved due to space and warehouse in Tempe was larger. My U-haul box was delayed a few days, I had arranged for my box to be delivered on 2nd, did everything Friday 30th of July. They said they tried to call but I didn't get a message they tried calling my work, they had wrong number and I don't work weekends and they had my cell number. This was all through scheduling and traffic for U-Haul box. I did get my box on Wednesday, I understand they had some problems, things happen communication was a little chaotic. I did get an email from Tempe U-Haul indicating I was late on my rent, he never got a message or was notified that my U-Haul box was being delivered. I had to tell him I got my box delivered to me. For the most part, U-Haul took care of my personal belongings and using U-Haul box was easy and my stuff was delivered and stored just as they said it would be.Elizabeth G.

This survey was tricky to fill out based on the questions. Was the staff friendly and helpful? Depends on who you talked to! Did the containers arrive on time? They were late being delivered in Phoenix, and on time in MN - but only after several conversations and involving executive leadership. Did the service work out as planned... mostly. It was great to have the containers packed up and make their way to the destination while we waited to close on the new house. Were there issues with U-Haul? You bet!! Left with a short window to load the containers due to equipment malfunction, notifications that delivery was going to be delayed by more than a week and most agents not knowing why or how to assist. Would I recommend? Cautiously I would, don't expect perfection, renting trucks is what this company knows how to do. Providing a service is a whole other ball game and they are still figuring it out. They did resolve the issues we had along the way, so at least if you run into concerns, they seem to step up - with a little pushing.Sean M.
