Michael W.Convenient location, drop off and parking lane were slammed packed- to the point of not being able to even pull in off the main road. I found a small spot in the lot to slip in. Once inside, half the ceiling tiles were missing with water dripping literally all over the sales floor and customer experience lanes. Staff was helpful but the location was packed with parked returns waiting to be accepted, people coming and going and the inside of the rental center looked and felt like a scene from Kiev after the latest Russian air-strike- I was wet from the water dripping into containers, merchandise and customers all over the sales floor and customer checkout counter lines inside.

I didn't need her lip service. She said, then I don't know how you think you're going to be able to drive this if you can't move it out. I responded with I can drive it. I don't like it's parked so close. I just drove a 26 foot one from ATL here. Unacceptable comment I am still mad several days after.

Jared W.I understand demand is high this time of year, however a 1 hour notice of unavailability prior to a scheduled pickup time is unacceptable. ESPECIALLY for an after hours pick up! This is just cruel and very shady. What is the point of reserving or planning multiple months in advance? Surely a better system is possible? Even in this event, the national uhaul needs to allow for sites to view inventory and nearby locations. This is just idiotic to not be able to. Lastly, it is VERY unnerving that my reservation was tampered with without my knowledge (I.e., changing my pickup time to AM instead of PM)
Mary F.First I would like to thank the employees for their hard work as I am sure it is difficult running a downtown CHS location with only 2 employees working at the end of the month. My rating does not reflect how I feel about them. The truck I rented needs to be serviced immediately. I get it that it will have dents and such especially how people drive down here but I went over a bump and the piece that controls the headlights, cab lights, and dashboard fell inside and we were unable to control the lights. Thank goodness the headlights were on or it would have been dangerous. Also, update the pictures for when you do the walk around. The pictures showed a brand new truck while the front had a huge dent. If you want people to get in and out quickly, the less someone has to do the better. When I see that a new truck is pictured then I am skeptical of everything and I will take 30 minutes checking it, delaying the process. The parking lot was packed and my truck was blocking the only entrance/exit. Since everyone moves in/out the end of the month meaning it's most likely the busiest time, maybe incentivize doing your own check in, even if it is like $5 off. Don't charge like $20 to do it then no one does it and you have a long line inside full of disgruntled customers waiting to be checked in my the only employee working the desk. But that is what you chose to do as a company. If that is the case-why have a transaction take 15 minutes long? I even did everything ahead of time and it still takes some time. There has to be a quicker way to do this. I only used this one because it was the closest AND the first time I used them. Maybe have a specific pick up time? Like 7; 7:15; 7:30 etc. With that all being said the employees did their best with what was scheduled by their store manager (or whatever is the equivalent). I want to give an extra shout out to the ladies working Thursday morning. They had multiple tasks and customers and handled it quickly without sacrificing customer service.

The long was long so we then tried customer service with online chat - no one ever answered the online chat. Finally, the women at the desk assisted - they were professional but overwhelmed. The men outside were really helpful and quick to assist. Our truck, however, was given to us and then had to turn around as we learned we had the wrong one. Then the new truck had a check engine light on it, the sun visor was broken/hanging. The outside assistant said the check engine light comes on and it was ok. We were only driving a few miles in town so we left. Returning the uhaul was easy and quick.

The ceiling area in the storage facility needs some work as it appears to have had a lot of leaking issues for a long time. They do their best to clean it and deal with the leaks. One of the men that works with the trucks, coming and going , always made himself available to help me carry, lift, and place items in my vehicle. I never had to ask and he always made himself available. He was particularly polite, professional, helpful and kind.

I had to go to two different U-Haul facilities just to get a truck and a hitch for my car. But when I got to Charleston I met Mike. He works at the King Street U-Haul facility. He was very instrumental in making the rest of my move smooth. My daughter nickname him Magic Mike. People like Magic Mike Elijah and TJ are hard to come by.

This is a busy office but I received excellent service as if I was the only customer present. I have been waiting for the opportunity to note the amazing service delivered by Latosha (excuse misspelling). After a 13 hour drive to King st and a 13 hour return home planned the next day, I hoped for anything to make unpacking the unit and packing the trailer easier. Latosha did everything to make it easier! I pulled out of the parking lot thrilled because we were in and out so much quicker (and easier )than anticipated. Thank you!

I got a U-Haul from another dealer and when I pulled up at King street with my first load to store, one of the young men noticed the trailer wasn’t hitched properly. He corrected the issue. Just out of curiosity, if the storage area were flooded and stayed flooded for 6 months straight, would you still charge rent for those six months during which our items were under water? I will not be back and neither will anyone that I speak with.
Jesse Z. | Overall ExperienceThere need to be trash cans more centrally located within the Uhaul storage area itself, the fact that we had to walk all the way around the entire building to get to the dumpster was extremely time consuming and ill-efficient. Clearly others feel the same way because there was constantly trash strewn through out the corridors. There is always a super long line in the customer service area and oftentimes associates who are unwilling and uninterested in helping whatsoever. On several occasions we had issues with Carol, who was not only demeaning, and apathetic but has the customer service ability of a dirty diaper. Sadly enough, she is the Manager or Owner!! As the highest on payroll she deserves a severe demotion and someone else needs to run that place. The only thing this place has going for it is its location and proximity to downtown. That and theres a young man who works there named TJ who is the diamond in the rough at that place. He works mostly outside, in the heat, helping to return and clean out the Uhauls. Our interaction with him was the only positive experience we can glean from patronizing with this Uhaul. He deserves a raise and a promotion for maintaining a positive attitude, being helpful, dilligent, willing to go above and beyond for the customer, all amidst clearly poor conditions and management that he has to work with. I hope his spirit doesnt get broken by the terrible attitudes of his colleagues and I hope UHAUL as a company regonizes his hard work and enacts stricter guidelines for the rude "managment" and "Customer service" agent you all have employed there.
