I rented this truck on Friday 4/12/24. It is now Monday 4/15/24. Due to having a very strict timeline to move, I reserved the truck 5 days prior to my rental date. On the day of my rental, I was told 4 hours before I was to pick the truck up that they had to change my pick-up location. This happened not once but twice. When I got to the 3rd location (mind you it was way further away and I had to pay mileage and gas on top of it all) they refused to rent it to me because I was from out of state using a business credit card. So, U-Haul again transferred me to a 4th location. Opening the combo lock was a bit of a challenge however getting the code and all thru the app was simple. We made it 9-12 miles up the road and the check engine light started to blink (NOT STEADY ON BUT BLINKING) After 2 hours of waiting for Roadside Assistance, their person said oh no codes came up you're good to drive it. We then continued to our move out address. We loaded half the truck at this point and decided (it was now after 1am) to go ahead and take it to the move in location and get some rest. We made it the half mile driveway and the truck began to shake, the check engine light was still steady blinking, the oil light was now steady on and there was a traction control warning. Figuring they would have someone come back out and it would take another 2-4 hours, we opted to take everything out of the truck and move it using straps to the top of my car. This already had us almost 4 hours behind schedule we were not going to waste more time. We spent ALL DAY and night Saturday moving VIA my car due to the timeline. Sunday morning we decided that despite our efforts to get everything moved we desperately needed the truck still. So, I called U-Haul back and spent nearly 6 hours on the phone with them thru the day (UNABLE to MOVE yet). They had yet another mechanic come out to read codes this time it popped up 3 "Major Engine Malfunctions/Misfires" and a "Motherboard Misfire" determined the truck absolutely was not drivable. This poor man drove 2 1/2 hours JUST TO READ CODES. He called them in then an hour later a tow truck was dispatched to get the truck and they had a FREE replacement truck ready for pick up right down the street from us. NOPE!!!!! PLACE NUMBER 5 was THE BIGGER FAIL by U-Haul/Roadside assistance. For this is now 4:25pm on Sunday. The place is not a 24 hour U-Haul and is NOT even open on Sundays..... So, here it is 7:34 Monday morning AFTER I was already overcharged on Friday and I get a notification that U-Haul attempted to take an additional $400 off of my card. YET I STILL HAVE NO TRUCK AND CANNOT MOVE. I am now a FULL DAY behind and paying a daily rate where I was moving from due to this. Not to mention, the truck had NO GAS in it AT ALL when we got it! I am absolutely livid at this entire situation which a $100 U-Haul rental is now costing me an upwards of $450 due to having to miss work, pay a daily rate at the move out location, pay movers to help with the move by the hour, and a ton of time for me to actually try to get this rectified. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE THE ENTIRE WEEKEND FOR THIS TO BE RESOLVED and I SHOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT BE having my card hit for additional money.
