It took 2 hours to pickup the truck! I arrived at noon, as I was told, but didn't have the truck until 2 pm! The employee seemed uninformed. When neither my phone nor my friend's allowed us to access and upload my driver's license, she had no suggestions about how to proceed (except to ask a stranger to do it for me if that customer's phone happened to work as ours did not). The employee told us, several times that the recommended procedure "worked for everyone". When my friend told her that repeating that phrase implied that we were not people, since it didn't work for us, she did stop using that phrase. She did not suggest we try downloading the uhaul app to upload the license. She could not tell me where the closest wifi was available so my phone without a data plan could upload the photo. It was very frustrating, in part because she was the only person working, so every time someone wanted to buy a lottery ticket or a pack of chips or cigarettes, I had to wait again. Also the lock on the back of the truck was very stiff, so it took me several minutes of resetting the combination, jiggling the lock, and swearing to get it off. She did not explain that I had to return the truck by 1:30 on the return date to avoid an additional fee. She did not mention that the phone number she told me to call to find out where to return the truck would not be answered after 7 pm, and was not a Delaware area number, so I had to talk to someone else. She did not mention that if I did not scrub down the cab of the truck I would be charged a $25 cleaning fee, even though I swept out both the back and front of the truck. Since I was there for so long, she had time to tell me. She did email the contract, which I could not view without a data plan.

Patricia HThis location does fraudulent transactions and add on charges. I read the reviews, was warned against using them and deliberately placed my reservation with Brian at the 2909 Lancaster Ave Wilmington DE location only to have it transferred to this fraudster the day of pick up. I only found out about this transfer when I called Brian that morning to ensure the truck would be ready and told they did not have a truck and the reservation had been transferred to the 400 MLK location. I was very unhappy about this change and the lack of notification until the last moment leaving me with no choice but to deal with these apparent scammers. After initially denying she had a truck available despite the "Traffic" representative insisting she did, "Appy", the woman who represents this location finally relented and agreed there was a truck available. On the phone and upon arrival, she glossed over any of my questions, especially regarding charges telling me "everything will be in your receipt". After specifically being told that I did not want the insurance (Safe Move) and asking about charges for fuel she responded they are a gas station so no need to worry about the gas, and she then charged me for the insurance and instead of their $3.19/gal. pump price, charged me $4.75/gal. "per the contract". She was unable/unwilling to print out the contract before hand (it will be in your email) or the receipt, I had to enlarge a screenshot of it from the app to see what she had done. This reflects badly on UHaul and I made that clear when I made a formal complaint with MaryEllen at the 800 468-4285 customer care line. It appears there are multiple business of (legit and semi-legit) being run from this gas station/ghetto bodega and renting UHaul trucks seems to be an after thought and an opportunity to scam those who rent from them for extra fees and charges with little if any need to provide servicing or attention. Based on my experience and other online reviews, I hope that UHaul would up their standards and delete this location if only to protect its reputation. Meanwhile, to its credit, UHaul (MaryEllen) has refunded me the insurance charge and I am hoping they will do the right thing and adjust the cost of the fuel. I sincerely hope my feedback has some impact.
wayne cI couldn’t get my reserved vehicle until two hours after the scheduled time because there was only one person there who didn’t know what to do with uhaul rentals. The person who usually handles them slept in so we all stood around waiting on her. The vehicle was horribly dirty inside and out, clearly had not been cleaned or checked since the last reservation. I had to dispute a cleaning charge because of this.

Orchid JThis location is the local BP gas station. Unfortunately, the gas station is located in the City near the train station/railroad tracks. It is not a bad location, but it isn’t good either. It is, however, conveniently located and normally has various sizes of UHaul trucks available.

andre hfacility is a pit. seedy and dirty. van was not clean and gas was on empty all of which could have been looked past had my reservations not been (almost) comically botched. I had reserved 2 vans at a different location... Gov Printz Blvd-- precisely to avoid Blvd BP. Upon arriving at Gov Printz, the app told me I was in the wrong location and sent me to Blvd BP (I might have confirmed that with someone at the counter but no one was there). At Blvd BP they had only one of my reservations saying the other was back at Gov. Printz. Wary, I called Gov Printz to make sure the vehicle and reservation were there. I was left on hold for more than an hour when I finally decided to drive out to Gov Printz (I spoke to Russel on the national switchboard while on hold --who assured me the van was there). It wasn't. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

David pThere is always an issue with our bookings at this location. My original reservation was switched here. Upon arrival I could not check in online, called support who assisted and confirmed my reservetion. The agent at the location could not find my reservation, did not know how to check me out, claimed there was no key for the vehicle so I had the support assist with not voiding the resevation as it was 15 mins passed my pick up time. Also the tank was empty, my reservetion was 6.4 miles and the gas light was on immediately after pick up. Terrible customer service!

The mobile pick up option is very confusing and tough to work through. Did not like there was no clear communication about the change in pickup location.

Rude attendant who was only interested in servicing the customers of the gas station and kept telling me to move aside so he could keep his pumps working. It took more than an hour for me to check out and get photos to challenge the condition of the van. Also took more than 45minutes to check-in with the result that that ticket had to stay open because of the fuel dispute. None of this would have happened if the dealer had feuled the van to the correct level after the last customer was charged for leaving the tank empty. THAT MUST BE THE ONGOING SCAM TO GET PAID MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME EMPTY VEHICLE. This is a very sleazy location that does not represent uhaul well. In fact, this may have made me a Penske customer!

The customer service representative said that the person’s name was Juan. THAT’S NOT MY NAME! What y’all can do better is properly VERIFY people!!!!!

Gregory WThis location was very reputable about a year ago. Recently, I've noticed there is no one on-site to take responsibility for problems. No owner, manager, no one to fix a problem. On a few occasions, I've found an overcharge for gas mostly. I failed to take a picture of the mileage or gas gauge. On this last trip, I took a picture. I was mindful of estimating a 15 miles gate to gate trip at most. I traveled 7 miles. That's not where they got me. I put a few dollars in the tank to bring it to more than what was in there when I took the truck out. I also took a picture of the gas & mileage. I noticed on my receipt, I was overcharged $47.40 for gas and $30.00 to pump the gas a total of $77.50. I called U-Haul corporate and sent them the conflicting information and they agreed I was ripped off. (not their words). She refunded the overcharge but I was charged an overdraft fee for other charges that were assisted. The owner had no phone# on file. (Strange) I sent an email with my phone# to discuss a plan to reimburse me for funds lost because of the error made by his establishment. He never responded. I went to the store. The sole employee (abt 22 y/o) said he can't get in touch with the owner. I am now short about $100, ripped off and forgotten. Be careful in this location. I believe it's happened to me before. Take pictures, check your bank statement, watch your back.
