First of all, why do you have the option to make a reservation online EVEN WHEN you guys have nothing available? That's very misleading especially for people who have a tight schedule for moving. I made a reservation for a 10 foot on the 3/20 for 9 am. I was called @ 8:50am on 3/20 and was told I wouldn't be able to get one until 3:30pm. Second of all, the older woman that works at the location 2650 Salem Dallas Hwy NW Salem Oregon is INCREDIBLY rude. I have never had worse customer service in my entire life. My mother in law tried to help us by getting a uhaul rental before 3:30, she showed up first in her car and about 10 mins later, we showed up. The woman working asked my mom: â€œwho is that?â€ In a very rude tone. Maybe it's someone, I don't know, trying to rent a uhaul from you??? We walked in, she gave us our total of $66 without even telling us what size we were getting. I asked: â€œis it that one? I thought they were $20â€ and proceeded to point at a 10 foot truck. She said in a rude tone â€œuh no, that one has been reserved long before you got hereâ€ I asked: â€œthen which one are we getting?â€ She said the 26 footer, which we didn't need OR reserved. Me, my mom and my partner started talking amongst ourselves, not even 10 seconds in she asked in again a rude tone â€œdo you want it or not?â€ my partner was fed up and said â€œnot with that attitudeâ€ and walked out. She proceeded to shout at him â€œwell you're going to get this attitude anywhere you go! There is no where in a 40 mile radius that has uhauls available!â€ I have read reviews on this west Salem location and I have no idea why you guys don't fire this lunatic or not associate yourselves with her. Thirdly, I was told that the uhaul I was suppose to rent @ 3:30 @ the Lancaster location had a gas leak and I would need to go to the shell gas station on Lancaster to rent a uhaul, they gave me a specific location that led me to a BACK ALLEY OF A STRIP MALL. I went to the shell closest to the location and they told me they weren't affiliated with uhaul. I went to the uhaul CLOSEST TO THE SHELL, waited in line, and was told that the location I was suppose to go to was busmati. Don't get me wrong, my experience with the man @ the Lancaster location and @ busmati was very pleasant, they were both very helpful. But everything else was awful, and solely because of the woman that works at the west Salem location and uhauls communication, I will never be renting for you guys again. The only reason why I'm giving a good review to busmati is because they don't deserve a bad review. Your company though, is terrible. I will be renting and suggesting penske from now on.Katy C.

This location is just a little difficult to locate as it in a strip mall, has almost no U-Haul signage, is a shop that sells everything under the sun, and the small number of trucks are parked far back. However, the owner of this location was so friendly and easy to work with. He is open late and also gave suggestions for our next reservation. I would absolutely recommend this location to others. I only rated it slightly lower due to the lack of signage indicating the correct location.Mark S.

Well my contract went to three locations and the one where I actually picked it up didn't open until 10:00am and my contract said 9:00. Luckily he agreed to open an hour earlier. This was a terrible experience. I'm the customer, why couldn't someone drive a truck to my original location? I'm spending my money but having to change plans and working harder than I should have. My pick up location was changed. Although, I understand why it was changed I feel as the consumer ni wasn't informed clearly that my pick up choice was not available for the equipment I desired. This is what I feel is clear transparency. When the location o selected wasn't available in an email at the very top of the eamil, the header should read: CHANGE IN U-HAUL ORDER CONFIRMATION #XXXXX. PLEASE READ BELOW ... Then the details of new pick up due to equipments is.. truck etc.. then the question would you (As the consumer) like to keep this ORDER. This type of information educates the consumer, allows the consumer to make a CHOICE. IF they would like to continue this transaction. The place I had to pickup the truck was not an official UHAUL store, that would have been nice to know as well. Not just the address, but to state the name of the business. This area of town is not a place I would frequent for any reason. I felt trapped,and deceived by UHAUL. Not the store where I picked up my equipment. She was very helpful, expedient and kind. I have nothing but high reviews about the person who checked me out the truck. But as far as Uhaul as an organization you have lost my business forever. I will use your competitor for ALL furture needs. This experience was an eye opener how clearly you use fine print to keep business and take away the consumers chocie and I have the right to know all needed up front and if any changes are made by the ORGANIZATION it then becomes your responsibility to point them out and MAKE sure I know, not the orther way around. Very difficult to find, located in a strip mall with no Uhaul trucks. I was very uncomfortable leaving the truck in a random parking lot and handing the key to a gentleman in what looked like a phone/pawn shop. Would prefer an actual Uhaul location more convenient to the customer.Christina C.

First he tried to over authorize my card. When I asked when the truck needed to be returned by he gave the hours he was open. Upon return which was unfortunately late i was charged an entire extra day. He was a very shady dealer whom i will be reporting.Tamara S.
This was the worst experience that I have ever encountered, 1st off this location is not a U haul store and nothing tells you where to go just have an address which was not on the building. 2nd we were told we owed money not once but twice after my boyfriend called you customer care center 3 times ans 1 1/2 hours later we got this mess taken care of what a nightmare. To make this whole experience worse was my boyfriend had just had surgery and he was tired and not feeling well and we were tired as we had only gotten a few hours of sleep. We remained calm but after the hour and a half plus ordeal I think you should refund me no less then half of my U Haul charge as this would only be fair for all the hassle and for our time and suffering through this horrible U Haul experience. Reevaluate your professional relationship with this business. They did not understand what they were doing, paperwork was incorrect, owner did not have his staff trained in dealing with U-Haul customers, and it took over an hour to complete the process. Seriously, this place was the fucking worst. I have used Uhaul for every move i have made in the last 6 years (at least 5 times), but this place made me seriously reconsider your credibility as a business, because who in their right-god damn-mind would license this store to represent their business?! The hours online were wrong, the location is impossible to find (there is one tiny sign in a window full of about a million other signs, cluttery and impossible to distinguish), the guy behind the counter is a grade A+ surly jackass, and the whole store had a feel like it is a front for selling drugs or god knows what else, i.e. selling crappy old electronics, knock-off shoe sand sunglasses, and a pair of acid wash jeans that, if they weren't from the actual year 1982, then I will eat my hat. The guy behind the counter was rude, argumentative, made us wait while he went and parked the truck, then tried to charge us a bunch of bullshit fees. This was, hands down to gods green earth, one o the absolute worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Please, for the good of others, never send anyone to this location ever again, there have to be better places in Salem. Moving sucks enough as is, but capping it off with this kind of interaction was the soul-sucking worst.Cassie F.

I was got the wrong address on Lancaster. The service man at 1741 Lancaster was rude. It is a gas station, small and dirty. He refused to help or even advise me where the correct location is. He refused to cross reference via name or truck ID. I called the 800 number and found the correct location across town. The correct location didn't look like a U Haul business, but the service man was helpful and stayed a few minutes late to check me in. If it weren't for his help, the turn in process would have been very negative.Scott R.

The truck had dents and scratches all over it. The truck that was on the receipt was not the same truck that he gave us, so the milage was not the same. (By about 4,500 miles) He was not very friendly and acted like he was doing us a favor by renting us a truck. Not very customer fucused.Rebecca H.
