The wrong keys were left in safe number one. A kind woman on the phone with customer service told me to use the key to take another van. The man who runs the Place later called and was very rude and demanded I return the van because I took the wrong one. I was already in the middle of my move and could not. The guy who runs this location is very competent but usually very unpleasant. I have dealt with him at least six times, always grouchy, no sense of urgency, occasionally angry. This is not about him- I wanted to use a different credit card at checkout than the one I used to reserve online. I was told that is not possible. Extremely irritating and why not? there was a glitch with the app and through the process of the pick up via your app it said "network not available" and bypassed the screen with the code for the lockbox. we had to wait 30 minutes to get someone to help us on the phone.Allison R.

They charged $10 to park my vehicle? Really? The truck has not had an alignment in who knows when, it pulled very bad on the road, not fun to drive at all. I swept the vehicle out when I was done and swept out everyone else's dirt and nasty stuff left in the truck. The guys here were very abrupt, almost yelling at me to park the truck way in the back where I got it from. It looks like there are a ton of run down vehicles parked everywhere. The office is a trailer that looks like it is falling apart. Next time, I will go somewhere else. The U-Haul app is a joke. It would never take my picture when I dropped off. Ordered add on rental supplies (dollies, blankets) during my reservation and was told upon arrival that this location does not carry supplies, only trucks. We were incredibly disappointed as we were counting on using the equipment we had ordered to have a smooth moving experience. I have used this particular U-haul location at least two other times before. I would park my car there since there is a GIANT open space. However this time now I was told I had to pay $10 for parking. I wasn't told about this when booking the reservation nor did it mention it anywhere in the email confirmation. I didn't have time to adjust my plans and was forced to pay, even though I live less than a mile away. The fact that tow trucks are just â€œcircling aroundâ€ the lot is false. Tow trucks need to be called to come and remove a car. I felt taken advantage of and won't be using this location ever again.Amy F.

They charge $10 plus tax just to leave your car while you move your belongings with the truck you just paid to rent. And if you want to leave the uhaul truck overnight at the location they charge $25. Never have I ever heard of such a policy.OLIVER G.
Charged me $10 to leave my car there even though the lot was massive. Also there was no real service like I've seen at other uhauls. My order wasn't ready when I got there and I was just handed a set of keys and had to go find the van among over a dozen other vans. Just not a good experience overall.Andrew M.

There was a fuel charge that was not correct. I put in just under two gallons of gas before I dropped off the van and I see a fuel charge of one gallon of gas. I would have preferred having a discussion with the attendant on duty, but that never happen. Disappointed.Nick H.

The representative that â€œassistedâ€ us was rude and unprofessional. We reserved a furniture dolly with our reservation, they didn't have any available upon arrivalâ€¦. A simple phone call to make us aware would have been appreciated. We were then given a uhaul with a super low tire pressure along with a message on the dash stating the tire pressure was low. We notified the representative, he proceeded to say uhaul is aware and you should be fine. I'm not sure if uhaul is aware but we live in Chicago pot hole city that is such a safety hazard for your customers to be put in a vehicle with noticeable issues. The representative REFUSED to give us a different vehicle stating they were all reserved. There were 50+ vehicles in the lot â€¦.. but okay, sure thing.Tiffany T.

Staff at the location was very kurt and largely unhelpful. Also, even though I booked 2 dollies and a furniture dolly, the location told me "oh we don't do dollies". I had to drive the 20-foot truck to a home improvement store and rent that additional equipment myself (and pay extra hourly) for what I thought U-Haul was going to provide. In addition, on returning the truck, the truck return website was down and the mobile app wouldn't let me upload photos to confirm my odometer and gas level. I sat in the parking lot on hold with customer support for 30 minutes (nobody ever answered) before I eventually just dropped the key in the dropbox and left. The location was definitely one of the worst ones I've ever used, and the U-Haul drop-off experience really let me down this time.MICHAEL C.
It was awkward that I contacted u haul to ask if straps were included in the rental and they said yes, but when I arrived, I was told they are not included and didn't have any. You need the straps to make a motorcycle trailer actually functional. After threatening to call u haul customer service. Magically they found straps and said they don't normally offer them because people steal them. It was a very strange interaction.Brent B.

I arrived to be told they would not have dollies provided for me which I had already paid for, which also made my move a nightmare due to the fact that I didn't have any other means provided to assist with my move. I called Uhaul yesterday and left comments with personnel. My pick up and next 15 minutes were terrible and I would like to be refunded. When I picked up the truck and started driving, the latch came undone and the dolley flew out. Very dangerous. could have seriously hurt someone. Was on highway so had no way to turn huge truck around and get it. And, there was 3 inches of snow on bed of truck, so it took about an hour with tons of equipment to mop and sweep and get it all out, which caused my movers to stay late and another 500 for me. Please email jddsweeny@gmail to discuss, instead of this comment box which is ineffeicient. I should get some sort of refund those this. it was so bad and caused em great inconvenience.Joseph S.

Reprimand the person in charge that day January 18 2022 at 1pm. Lying about the amount of gas and lying about the milage on the vehicle. When confronted with a photograph of the gas gage and the milage he told me: "I will adjust the contract" which he never did. I then said to him why is there only 1/4 tank of gas, is it my job to fill the tank up? The man replied:" I drove on a1/4 of a tank from Indianapolis to Chicago". Our actual milage was 127 miles on a 1/4 tank.Craig A.

After receiving the vehicle, I informed the attendant that the gas tank was not full. He told me to just bring it back at the level it was at when I picked it up. I actually brought it back with slightly more gas than it started with and again informed the attendant of that when I returned the truck. I was emailed my receipt and saw that I was still charged for 2 gallons @ $10. What else was I expected to do to communicate this and prevent from being overcharged?Stephen G.

The van rental was great. On the website you can add on dolly rentals for this locations, but they don't actually have any other equipment to rent there so I was unable to get the things I had expected.Mallory M.
The self pick up service can be improved a lot. I had to wait almost an hour to get the keys and start the van. The instructions for verification process are not at all clear. While adding an alternative contact it didn't mention anywhere that it needs to 2 contacts. Since I added only one, it didn't verify me and I had to wait for a long time on hold on call. Live chat customer service agent was the worst. I can specifically remember the agent named Vickie who was not at all helpful nor did he seemed to be willing to help. I hope he gets proper training. Also the agent named Alexyss who called to verify should have atleast told on call that 2 contacts are needed. Instead she verified first contact and disconnected the call and then said information cannot be verified and ended the chat session. This is not all a good customer experience for someone just wanting to start a van.Shreyas S.

Not sure if this can be improved for the next customer but I could not access the U-Haul website for mobile return on my iPhone, even after attempting multiple methods to do soâ€”Googling â€œU-Haulâ€ and clicking on the official U-Haul link; clicking the link in both my reservation and return reminder emails; and also typing in U-Haul.comâ€”so this delayed my return check-in time significantly but *thankfully* my guests offered their Android phones that had no problem connecting to the U-Haul website. Based on previous U-Haul experiences and most of the reviews for this location, i expected to have an incredible amount of frustrating issues lasting at least 45 mins just for reservation pick-up. But to my surprise (and also my guests'), the attendant at the counter got me in and out of the place in less than 5 mins!! He was also super friendly and answered all my lingering questions! His coworker was also very kind and helpful! I would try renting from this location again if I had to in hopes of having another great experience :) the only thing I was worried of was that at pickup the guy told me to park the truck where his coworker pulled it out from but upon returning, there were trucks already parked in that area so I had to park a few spots down from where it originally was pulled out of.Zoe V.

Truck was clean, in good working order, 1/4 tank of fuel, and available quick for my reservation. It certainly met my expectation. The staff was OK... During my return a few hours later, I backed in the truck in the exact spot where I picked it up, having fueled 2 gallons for 8 miles driven (I think it was below 1/4 tank when acquired). I walked into the office, the clerk asked if I was picking up a truck, in which I said, No, I'm returning. There was a van that someone pulled up directly in front of the rental office. The desk clerk, then barked at me and said that's a not a good spot to drop off the van. Of course, I responded that's not my vehicle. Rather than apologize and say Sorry sir, I assumed that van was your return... he just ignored the attack. All good, but would have been nice to say Sorry. And when I picked up the truck.. Good Morning, etc. A little friendliness goes a long way. I felt I was retrieving a vehicle from an impound lot, rather than a U-Haul rental office.Steve C.
