We rented a pickup truck to tow a trailer and asked several times if it had trailer brakes. He said yes everytime I asked! The truck didn't have trailer brakes and he said he didn't understand what I was talking about. This could have resulted in a major accident and could have gotten someone killedDouglas C.

Be sure to clarify two issues: 1) The exact miles limit with a map review of the drop off destination. (The reason is that I got different stories at the two ends.) 2) I was told at FCI that if more fuel was in the tank - a rebate! But at drop of told no.Bart K.

The FCI front desk employee, a teenager, is untrained and unsupervised, especially on a Saturday where moving time is of the essence for a hourly rental. What should have taken 15 minutes to pick up the 15' uHaul truck took 45-60 minutes due to poor training, unfamiliarity with the system, slow computer, slow website, etc. and double charging me. I caught the double charge error, and when he tried again, couldn't take the double charge back out. We returned unused boxes for a return, as advertised, and the return still hasn't been processed after 7 days. I have no confidence with this local Uhaul establishment and will go elsewhere. Our first time at this uHaul, the truck leaked and damaged clothing and furniture. Given the benefit of the doubt, we tried our local vendor again. This is our 2nd time using this establishment and I cannot recommend it.JAMES M.

I didn't even stop for gas because the vehicle was TERRIFYING to drive. It was 100% unsafe. At about 50-60mph, the truck would start to wobble side to side, like it was ping-ponging off the white lines on the road (both loaded and empty). The steering was incredibly loose in this vehicle and it was not possible to straighten it without over-correcting, causing the vehicle to swerve side to side. It was the scariest drive I have ever taken. I rent UHaul trucks frequently because I use UHaul to carry my staging materials from job to job. I've had nothing but positive experiences up to this point, but during this drive, I was literally on the phone with my husband the entire time just in case the truck completely went out of control. I drove from my job site to the dealer, not even stopping for gas. I wanted to get out of that truck as quickly as possible. It should not be on the road. Please take this review to heart. The dealer was wonderful, but this truck needs to be pulled.WENDY K.

We were disappointed when we got an email message from U-Haul the day before pickup that the 15' truck was going in for repairs and the new pickup location wasn't 3 miles from the apt, but 35 miles away. We had to use GPS to find the location. We were feeling sorry for the desk girl who was obviously filling in because she had to call somebody to get an answer to every question we had. She was very nice but she was put into a very awkward position. The insurance cost listed on the internet was $28 but the Uhaul location told me it was $45. I debated that and I got a $17 credit. The supplies I ordered weren't ready in the truck so we had to go out to a storage unit to find my 12 furniture pads and 2 dollies. The girl had to call somebody to find out which key opened the lock. They did not have any straps available to keep our furniture in place during the 165 mile journey. I'm glad we were able to stay under the allowed 211 miles (moving from Renton, WA to Vancouver, WA was 165 miles) ... since we had 30+ miles added at the beginning for the new Uhaul pickup location. I have never had to give such a negative review before. I'm pretty patient, but this rental wasn't much fun. I think if an ordered truck isn't available, Uhaul should contact the customer verbally and give the customer the options that are available, which might be that the contract needs to be cancelled. If the ordered truck is not available, instead of sending the customer to a new location 35 miles away ... contact the customer and give them the best options available ... which might be cancelling the order completely.Sharon D.

I was guaranteed a truck at 7am but did not get it until 930am. I was told I would get a $50.00 credit I did not. I dropped the truck of after hours because I did not receive the truck on time. It was listed as a 24 hour business. I called a manager at customer service. She told me to lock the doors and hide the keys and I would not be charged an extra day. I was charged an extra day. I will be disputing this bill. Just what I need with the hassle of moving. This was an awful experience!!!!kelli C.

Our experience was horrible. We did the express check for expediency sake. When we arrived, there was only one person behind the counter and she was involved with another customer. She did not get to us for 15 minutes. We told her that we did Express Check but she was ill prepared to handle us. She didn't know how to process our order. She had to call for assistance. It took over 30 minutes to process our order. She asked us to do a damage review of the truck but the truck was parked in a separate parking lot. My husband went to do that but she asked me to stay. I don't know why. I told her I was going to make a phone call and that I would bring the paperwork back. I got in my car and drove to the other parking lot because I had a child in the car that I didn't want to leave unattended where I could not see her. Minutes later, the employee shows up at the other parking lot to make sure we didn't leave without giving her the paperwork. I was horribly offended. Then, as we were about to leave, I got parked in by another car who informed me that I was parked in her private driveway and that the facility renting to us should have told us that information. She refused to move her car and screamed every profanity at me in the presence of my child. Finally she calmed down and let me leave. Then as my husband was driving, he realized there was very little gas in the truck. He had to stop to fill up the tank. Because of all this, we were over an hour late. With Express Check, we expected to be on our way with a full tank of gas withing 10 to 15 minutes. I definitely would not use this u-haul location again. In fact, my neighbor asked about our experience because he needed a u-haul and I told him that our experience was horrible.Dina P.

It's not the rental location that I had the problem with, it's the fact the vehicle had little X stickers all over it showing damage from previous renters. I'd rather they fix it than drive around with an X marked scratched and dented truckGREG C.

The passenger door was not very secure. It would not close well, it came open once And didn't close tight another time causing me to have to exit the freeway any shut the door again. This was rather scary and hope this issue is properly addressed since it could have become a very dangerous situation. Thanks.Stacey M.

I did not receive the vehicle I originally ordered (a 20' was what I wanted, but I ended up in a 17'). When I arrived, there was some mix up in the U-Haul system they kept the dealer from releasing the truck to me (I ended up late to a school event with my son). I am now in a larger truck from a different location (still U-Haul). There was a sign offering a $50 refund for always giving the customer the right equipment at the right time. I was failed on both of those, but no one responded to my call or email.JOSH R.
all went well, till I revued my final charges on line, they charged me for fuel, which I put two and a half gallons in and only drove less then 10 miles. on monday, I will discuss this with them to resolve that. besides that, all went wellsteve B.

The young man that rented the truck to me lied to me saying that if I turned the truck in a day early I would get one day of the rental fee returned to me, when I got to Arizona with a truck they just looked at me like I was an alien saying there was no policy for that.MICHAEL B.

The uhaul sounded awful and terrifying. It was loud, the shifting stuck, it periodically made an obnoxious and loud noise that made it sound dangerous. I generally felt unsafe. The ad for the uhaul is "Gentle ride van" and it was not gentle at all. I would never take any kids in this vehicle, I feel like it should be checked out. I personally felt it wasn't worth my money, It got the job done but I will not be recommending this location to any of my friends or family. It felt and sounded unsafe. I am Unsatisfied.Sarah T.

The truck was pretty dirty inside, both the cab and the cargo area. I actually returned it cleaner than when I picked it up. But the service at FCI was very good; I have done business with them before.Laura D.
I was given a truck that had under a quarter tank of gas. I was told that i need to return the truck with a quarter tank of gas or be charged extra. I put in $12 worth of gas to bring it up to a quarter tank. I only put 10 miles on the truck so probably less than $4.00 worth of gas. I don't think it is fair that I had to pay the extra gas to get the tank back to a quarter tank, when Uhaul charged the prior customer $30 because they left it less than a quarter tank. I should have been given a credit for filling the tank fuller than what I used.Art Z.
