I scheduled for a 20 ft truck rental 4 days in advance to the needed day. The day before my move, I was called by U-haul and told that the truck would be available at a different location (7 miles further away). The pickup time was for 9:30 AM and there were no representatives at the "Flip n Rides" location. I called the location manager and he informed me that U-haul corporate made these changes without informing anyone at his level of authority. In other words, I was informed that he did not know about anyone picking up at the location that day and would have someone there soon. After an hour of waiting I called U-haul corporate and they informed me that the Flip n Rides location was supposed to be open at 9 AM and they they could have me drive to a different location (another 15 miles away) for another truck to be delivered to. Keep in mind this is the morning of the scheduled move and I now have a moving crew waiting to do work and being paid by the hour. Corporate "complaint line" was helpful in offering a $50 return because of their failure to guarantee the truck at the scheduled time, however they informed me to "send an email" if the $50 was not enough compensation for my troubles. I received my rental vehicle at 11:15 AM, almost 2 hours past the agreed pickup time. After completion of my move, I was emailed a receipt with an additional charge of $81.00 for their "SafeMove Plus". I did not select this option when applying online for the moving truck. I have been a customer with U-haul for my past 4 moves and have not experienced anything close to this level of incompetence. Because of this, I will not be using U-haul for any future moves.

The truck I rented in Pendleton, S.C. was handled unlike any I have ever rented. Which, by the way, is many. No contract. No checking out the truck, no checking gas gauge, just a piece of paper with my name, date, rental equipment and amount owed. I moved from La France, S.C., 29656. Moving to Zephyrhills, Fl. All was fine until I reached Ocala, Fl. Truck stopped running on I-75. I pulled over and called road service. I got a response to wait, try starting again. Which I did. This happened 4 times. When I would call road service, I got the same response. Try starting again. If it doesn't start, call back and we will send someone out. 1-2 to 1 1/2 hrs. to get to you. It cost me a lot of money for gas and each time I would stop to get gas, the cap gas had been blown off. No wonder I had to use $240.00 worth of gas to get from SC to Fl. Should never have been that much. This truck needs services. May get Vapor lock, I don't know. However, it made a very tiring and dangerous situation. Me, a JH and a tow dolly, stuck on the side of a very heavily traveled Interstate and I am a 79 year old woman with no help. Just me and my dog. The last time I rented a U Haul, I had a bad experience also. My loaders didn't show, so I was given an extra day. Well, as it turned out, I didn't need it. Got the truck to its' location in Mauldin, SC. Got there and it was closed. No way to drop off key, no one to talk to, no witness, except my son. The truck was returned at 5:00 p.m. Right on the money . Unfortunately, the store had closed early and no one there to check me in. Iparked the truck, locked it. Went back the next day and was charged $123. 38 for an extra day that I didn't even have to use. So, I called corporate to get my money back. I am on a fixed income). The Mgr.at Corporate was very rude. Told me I owed $338 plus change. Guess I had paid all but the $123.00. I explained to him what happened and in a very nasty tone, repeated again as to how much I owed and hung up. I feel like an adopted red-headed stepchild, treated like i am not worth being an honest human being. I must be honest and say that i will NEVER AGAIN rent from U-HAUL. Not what it has been in the last 20 yrs.that you are the only Company I ever dealt with. What a terrible change. I am so disappointed and disgusted that U-HAUL will never get high recommendations from me for great people to deal with. Stick a fork in me. I AM DONE.
