I dropped the truck off, then received a call from the Liquor Store Owner a half hour later stating I would be charge $25 due to the vehicle not being returned clean. He told me he would get the $25 from Uhaul, then he would have to pay someone $10 to clean it and he would get $15. Not sure why he felt the need to share that. He stated that there was a chip wrap (I did not eat any chips) and some grass. (Not sure where the grass came from as we were on concrete the whole time.) He said if I wanted to come back and clean it I could avoid the charge, which I wasn't going to take the time to do. He said he had pictures, I told him I didn't feel it was any dirtier than when I picked it up. None of this feels right and I'll never use this location again.Ron S.

This is very confusing place to get in and out trailer tongues are sitting on ground so I had to take my floor jack and jack it up and hook it to my truck myself. Owners will not come out and assist with hookup they told us we had to do it are self there are no signs on were to go to pay for the uhaul it Is motel and a drive thru liquor store just need some kind of sign so people can find the place easier. And they need to put there trailer tongue up off the ground cause it's very hard to lift those up. Guy even said he didn't do these uhaul rentals that his wife does and it took a long time just to pick it up Over one hr since people kept coming up to the drive thru window to get there liquor at 10 am so the guy had to stop and wait on them and then the computer work time out on it and he have to start all over I was frustrated to the point to where I was ready to leave and drive 30 minutes north to another place where that had them for rent but this place was closer and thought it save me some time.Jesse H.

The online customer service person that I worked with was beyond terrible. He was not helpful and just kept telling me what he couldn't do instead of what they could do. This started because I was told 2 hours before my tea that my vehicle I rented was not available and that I would have to drive an hour to get the trailer I reserved. No other options, I ended up driving 30 minutes to get a truck for double the price and told they can't do anything to help.Joshua R.

Pick-up location was 60 miles from our home. This is not what I call "local" which is what the U-Haul store in Urbana, Illinois promised when I made the reservation. The proprietor runs a liquor store/no-tell motel and U-Haul. An interesting business combination, but not one I would have sent my wife to do business at.Bradford C.

This is a great location available for folks in Greenup to transact with UHAUL. Ash and his wife are very accommodating and easy to work with. They operate a motel so they have good schedule availability. There is plenty of room to maneuver vehicles (trailers and large trucks) and this is helpful when it is time to pick up and drop off your UHAUL rental.david E.

Watch the fuel gauge and take pictures before and after. Also, please be aware of a delay getting your truck. I waited 28 min in the rental facility (liquor store!), then they tried to say I returned the truck late.Justin C.
When I went to the U-Haul location in Effingham IL I put my $60 cash down and the lady there told me that I would only have to pay the remaining balance of $64 when I picked up the trailer which might be as far as 15 minutes away. Later that night I find out that in order to get the trailer I must drive 35 each way out of my way to Greenup. I called to schedule a pick up and was told that if I came in between 5-6 on Wednesday night as he would have someone else there so he could get me taken care of. I arrived at 5:30 as nI told him I would. He keep waiting on people before me that arrived after I did . He told me at the time taht they needed me to drop it in Saginaw instead of Gaylord, Mi as that is where it was needed I told them that was 2 hours each way from where I live and tehy told me if I would do it the charge would only be $75 instead f the total of $124 that I was told it would be so I said Ok. Then he informs me that the $60 that I was told from teh lady in Effingham, IL would not be taken off but would be given to me in cash at teh time I return the trailor which of course upset me as that is not what I was told at the place I reserved the trailor. I told him that I expected it in cash as that is what I paid with. He said yes of course it would not be a problem. Well it was when I went to drop it off they told me no a check will be mailed to me . Right the check is in the mail no way. I needed the cash to get back home I had already gone 4 hours out of my way there was no way they informed me not their problem. I called teh man in Greenup and he said yes they sould give me the 60 there. They told me that the only way i could get it back and not be mailed id to take it to another place 15 minutwes away which is what I wound up doing. This is very poor service and being a Realtor I will let my clients know not to use Uhaul as you will get the run around andf very poor sevice.Donna S.
It would be nice if there was cruise control in the trucks. When driving a long way, your leg gets tired and cramps. We did have to sweep out the truck. Better pads would be nice too. Truck ran well and did good on the very wet roads.Juanita V.

First the person helping us could finish our transaction before helping other people. He was selling cigarettes and alcohol to people and making us wait when we were there first and he was in the middle of returning our rental. Second he wanted to argue over the amout of gas in the vehicle. We had a gas reciept that showed exactly how much gas was in the vechicle. He proceeded to inform us he needed to take photos of the gas gauge and continued to argue over the amount. I was charged $9.20 for gas. Very rude facility.terry H.

We just relocated out of state and rented the 26 foot u-haul truck to complete our moving process. I called 800 number, reserved the needed equipment and was told I'd get a call about where to pick it up. The next day I get a call from a small town uhaul dealer saying he was referred our info about needed this big uhaul and he could complete it. Set everything up, get a confirmation email and text. I drive 45 minutes out of our way to pick up the truck the day of our move, and arrive to a run down motel/liquor store where the lady working locates her husband, whose just been woke up. (its 10am and this dealer was said to open at 9am)So we tell him who we are and he confirms that he's expecting us. So we proceed to talk...about random, small talk things, he is typing on his laptop and I am assuming he is getting things together for me to sign and what not. Over an hour goes by...still he's typing away...my moving crew arrived at my house to start moving us. Finally 11:30 rolls around and I ask him if we're about done, he tells me the new system is difficult and he can't process my card. So he makes all these phone calls and asks me to write down my information. So I do, and he apologizes emensely for taking a long time, reassuring me that he will shred my info...as he snatches open the back of this huge truck, in which the floor is covered in a black, sticky mess, and tells us it was returned like that...ew. So this was yesterday...we finally arrived at our new address at 10pm and unload. This morning we went to take back the truck...except we were never told where to take it. So we took it to the closest uhaul store, to be told it was wrong store. We drove this truck another few miles to a different location, where the people are freaking out telling us we're lucky we were not pulled over because we would have arrested, as the truck was never legally releases from the system. What a mess...when we move again I will use Penske, Budget, pretty much anyone besides uhaul.krystal B.

The check in process took a little longer than expected. Service was great, I just wasn't anticipating spending as much time there doing the check in as I did. I could just be ignorant to how long these things generally take.Craig H.
I rented the Truck from the Greenup IL location and definitely would never recommend this location to anyone. They did not have the 12 moving blankets that were supposed to be reserved for me. At first he just said " I don't have your blankets" in a very carefree tone. I asked him how that was when I was told they were reserved. His first excuse was it was a computer glitch that showed him having them when he did not. Then the guy told me that a lady had came in yesterday (what would have been Sunday) and wanted 12 blankets so he had rented them to her. I asked him how he had rented them to her when they were supposed to be reserved for me, and his response was that she had came in yesterday which was before I had got there to get the truck. I told him that I had reserved the truck and blankets on Saturday which was prior to the lady coming in. About the time he got done with his second excuse is when the email showed on my phone for me to review my experience. I turned and showed it to my son and told him I would definitely be doing a review because this was a bunch of crap when I was told they were reserved. The next excuse was that they were supposed to come in on a truck but the guy had forgot them. Still his attitude was that it was no big deal at all it was just a computer glitch and was not his fault. He told me it was just like the computer showed he had 3 truck dollies when he only had 2; it was a computer glitch and not U-Haul's fault and not his fault. I looked at my son and told him it must be the computer's fault that the human did not put in the correct information. The guy was in no hurry at all to get the paperwork done and while we were waiting on him to get it I asked my son how the truck was as he had looked around it when I had first went into the place; he respond with a shrug and that it was okay he guessed. I was already annoyed with the part of not having the blankets and the lies as to why (3 different excuses as to why he did not have them meant to me the guy was lying about it). I told my son that if I knew Penske had a truck available in Mattoon that we would just go there and rent it. The guy started again with the excuse of the truck not having the blankets on it. I told him I really did not care what the excuse was and that I needed to get on the road. When the guy finally did get around to giving me the key so I could check out the truck he told me that I could check it over and then had to come back in and finish the paperwork. He told me the back was open as he had not went back out to closed it after his manager had looked at it the day before. As we were checking out the truck it was obvious that there was some outside damage on it which we noted and it was not clean. As we were checking it over the guy came out and went to look in another truck that was there. On his way back I told him there was some damage on the truck that I wanted to make sure was noted and it was not cleaned. He told me thaDaniel B.

The staff had no idea that I was coming and didn't seem to know what to do. At first it sounded like she wouldn't be able to take care of me. It took a long time to check out the truck because she had to run back and forth between an old motel and a liquor/convenience store next door. The staff lady was, however, very nice.Kaare P.

I was called one day before to be notified that I would have to travel an additional 25-30 minutes to pick up a Uhaul. Not to mention, I already had to drive hours to get to Charleston from Chicago. Then he gave me the incorrect information, he didnt even update my contract so when I returned the Uhaul they said I went over the allotted miles. He still had me dropping off in Forest Park, when he told me while I was there that he changed the location to Bolingbrook and I had 279 miles instead of the original 257. Everytime I go through Uhaul I have a problem with something! This was my last time using this horrible company. Although, I only had to pay $3.36, it's the priniciple of the matter. I'm a very dissatisfied customer and I will be taking this to a corporate location.CELIA F.

Apparently the U-Haul website was having problems so it took a long time to actually get the trailer. The person helping me apologized, but it was not anything he did. The problem was with U-Haul itself.STEVEN H.
Our original reservation was to pick up in Paris, IL. I was called less than 24 hours before our scheduled pick up telling me I had to drive an additional 30 miles to pick up the truck. When I asked why the truck couldn't come to Paris, I was told it would take too much of their time to do that. So other than extra miles added on to compensate we had to drive an hour and half extra to pick up the truck. Then the pads we had reserved were not available either. Then to top it off it was raining the next day when we had to unload and the Mom's attic was leaking. Not a lot, but enough to add insult to injury.TONI E.
