the website checkout did not really work at all - got stuck on uploading dash picture, kept saying i hadn't uploaded it while showing 100% upload. had to walk inside and there was some confusion because i had requested a dolly but there were none available. but the people at the location were nice. just the online process was broken.Timothy T.

We had reserved a dolly which had been confirmed online by Uhaul. There was no dolly available when we picked up the van which put a big dent in our plans. The van was not totally full if gas and when we returned it, we filled it but did not get credit for the difference. Also it took a very long time to pick up the van even though I express checked in online prior to picking up the van. Apparently Uhaul changes their system frequently but does not inform the stores of the changes or how to navigate them. The guys helping us at the store were extremely helpful. The issues we have are with Uhaul.Lawrence C.
My local Uhaul was fabulous. The corporate website/reservation/ equipment distribution system was an abysmal failure. I rented a uhaul van online for 2 days as I have done many times. Typically I would receive numerous email notifications to confirm this but of course I was out of the country and didn't look for them. ON the day of pickup I noticed there were no email so early in the morning I called the Hanover location and they said they could not see any reservation nor would they be able to see it or tell me if that was indeed the location I would be able to get the van until the day prior to the rental. This would be a huge pain logistically but I waited to see what happened. At about mid day after not hearing anything from Uhaul I got back onto the website and looked up my account. There was no rental reservation there so I tried to make another. This time I did not get an email and started again to make another one hoping to get it to go thru via a different email. Within moments my phone rang with a lady from Uhaul (not local) to confirm my pickup location. I said fine Hanover Hardware is great and what I wanted and I mentioned there might be some sort of duplicate due to difficulties with the website. She said she found a duplicate and deleted it. I picked up my truck as planned without problems from Hanover Uhaul at he Hardware store. They were excellent and everything went very well. Then about an hour later I got a call from another local uhaul asking if I was going to be coming for my van pickup. I explained I already had one from Hanover and somehow the duplicate must have still been in the system and they got the order but I didn't need it (as I was loading my uhual at that moment). Then all was well until day 2 of my rental when I realized the paperwork said 1 day instead of 2. I called to explain to Hanover Hardware that there was some sort of mix up and they told me another customer was coming in for the van and I had to get it back as soon as I could. I told them I was having some delays but would do so as quickly as possible. Well I ran into more delays on my end and although I returned the truck about 28hrs into a 48hr rental I apperently made some people at the local branch quite upset as they had a customer looking for a van that wasn't there and I was unreachable (out of cell phone range/battery charge/ and some other logistical challenges that slowed me down more than I would have wished). Bottom line is it made me frustrated with Uhaul Coorporate, made Uhaul look bad with this other unsatisfied customer, and added a bunch of stress to a day because glitches or duplicates, or failures in the online reservation system. For my part sorry although I am pretty justified in what I did but really feel bad for the other customer. Mostly because I have been in their shoes standing at a Uhaul counter being told my long reserved truck had not been returned yet. It just doesn't work for the customers and someMark H.

The person who had the truck before me was able to login to your system and extend their reservation into my already booked slot. I ended up not being able to move in a timely manner and in the rain. Please fix your system this is beyond unacceptable. I had also reserved a dolly in my original reservation and when I finally got the truck was told they didn't have any uhaul dolls. Somehow they didn't see or receive the additional equipment I had ordered (hand truck and pads) and didn't have them there. They found them at another store 6 miles away so I could drive over there and get them, which was a minor inconvenience, but they were very nice and added some miles to my allowance to make up for it.John H T.

Upon arrival, a dolly was not available even though I had reserved it ahead of time. Despite a lack of dollies within 20 miles, I was not notified between the time I made my reservation and pick up. I had reserved this a day ahead. There was an utter lack of communication between UHaul and this particular pick up site (as well as with the customer). At pickup, the store manager simply shrugged his shoulders and said nothing could be done. Unfortunately, I have found these types of incidents at multiple UHaul locations to be the norm rather than the exception. Buyer beware.Daniel L.

The van I rented did not have snow tires. This created a dangerous situation when I drove it on slippery rural roads. Rental vehicles in northern New England should all be equipped with snow tires for winter rentals.TED L.

Never rent from this place. Online reservations are meaningless, the vehicle will not be available at this location or even at the time you reserved. Employees have no idea what reservations exist and are desperate to wash their hands of the whole thing ASAP. Terrible customer service and bad attitude. I've rented U-Haul vehicles perhaps a dozen times over the past 20 years, and the experiences vary widely. This time was by far the best location I've encountered: the two individuals who served me (one at pickup and one at return) were prompt, friendly and helpful; the store was nice and the truck was clean inside and out. My only suggestion would be to provide better instructions on where to park the truck upon return: parking space was limited when I got there. (But a store employee recognized my plight immediately, took the keys and parked it for me, before coming back in to complete the paperwork... actually it was paperless.)Douglas M.

I only drove the truck about 3 miles but was charged the refilling fee for the tank being below 1/4--it could not have perceptibly changed from when I picked it up, so that was frustrating. I did not appreciate being charged ~$80 for having the truck for only an hour and 3 miles. The folks at Hanover Hardware were very understanding and took back the extra charge after several minutes on the phone, but I don't think that hassle should have been necessary.CALLISTA W.

When I originally chose this location for drop off the price was $100 more vs another location I had no idea where it was. When I chose that other location, it reverted back to the one I wanted at the lower price. Stop screwing around with locations. Provide what the customer selects.
