My dissatisfaction with my UHaul experience was not with the location where I picked up my rental, but rather with the inflexibility of the UHaul organization and their inability to service and adapt to the problem I had with the equipment. Specifically, I rented a moving truck for a one way move to pull my camper trailer. There was not enough clearance between the hitch ball and the bumper and I wasn't able to hook to my trailer. I had to return the truck and still paid $116Phil T.
Upon pick up and while driving on the fwy we noted the hood of the truck (both sides had not been locked/secured; further, upon arriving in Lynden, we detected a strong smell of gasoline and discovered a leak. We took the truck to a local Lynden Uhaul location that luckily had a mechanic nearby. They informed us we could have had a significant problem if not a fire due to this leak. I feel both should have been identified and fixed before you even rented this vehicle to us!Margaret L.

Its a good thing I knew what I was doing. Albert did not. He had to call U-haul for help writing up the contract and closing it. When backing up to the trailer he raised too far, which wasn't needed and bottomed it out, thus shearing the roll pin in the tongue jack. I got out my tools took the jack apart, drive the old pin out, replaced it with a cut off nail. He also had problems attaching the safety chains. I tow a lot and my truck is well equipped to do so. No one there is helpful, barely speak English, truck was not fueled up all the way, covered in leaves and muck, no one took us to the truck just pointed out side because it was raining, no one helped us inspect it, altogether an unpleasant experience. Plus we had been re routed to this location from our original choice, ( we also passed a large fleet of U-Haul at another location along the way to their gas station )took nearly 2 hrs of our day extra to deal with poor service and bad experience, had we not been under a time limit I would have went to the competition and got a better truck and better service with out run around . The truck they gave us rode like a i was sitting on a paint mixer. It also was off on the steering so driving a 26ft truck in the free way in a rain storm riding on paint mixer fighting the steering wheel cause it 29 degrees out alignment to stay in a lane a was super fun.Drew G.

For the most part the trailer was well maintained. However, I noticed on one of the wheels that lug nuts were totally rusted to the rim. Good thing I didn't get a flat. Don't know how I would have been able to change it. I also noticed that the nut on the tightening wheel was pretty rusty as well. Made me wonder how long it had been sitting out there in the rain. Other than that, everything was fine.Chris H.
the online check in is full of too many wants as in taking pictures and uploaded them. After you parked and locked up then having go back to do this. Also what would you have been able to do if didn't have a camera with you that worked on phone? Not a big fan this feature.Jeff P.
Fire the employee's! Worse experience of my life. Went in to return furniture pads and I hear be with you in a minute doll. I wait 5 minutes and rang the bell sitting on the counter I hear I said I'd be with you in a minute doll I'm only one person so I wait another 5 minutes and rang the bell again and got the same response from her and this went on for another 10 minutes. She then went and got someone to help but he didn't help me he helped another customer that just came the door. I waited another 10 minutes and she comes over to the counter where they do the U-Haul business and tells me it's going to be another few minutes because she's only one person. I informed her that I'd already waited a half hour for something that would have taken her 5 minutes to take care and that she gave the worse customer service of anyone I'd ever dealt with and I don't like being called doll. Would I recommend this location to anyone? Hell NO!Rosemary M.

Hello-- I'm emailing re: a billing error... We were assessed a $6.08 mileage excess fee for going 14 miles over the original limit made at reservation. However, because my location (Lake Oswego, OR) did not have the correct size truck, I had to drive up to Beaverton OR which resulted in extra miles above the initial estimate. The Beaverton franchise was kind enough to offer 20 extra miles at no charge (listed in my copy of the contract) so my total mileage allowance should have been 111.0 + 20.0 = 131 miles. Moreover, when I went to turn in my vehicle last night (5:20 PM), I was told there was no one to process my return (manager). The employee on shift spoke little English just saying "manager not here, tomorrow..." As a result, there was no inspection of the vehicle upon return for damage, cleanliness, etc plus I had to leave all of my paperwork behind. Fortunately, it doesn't appear that I was assessed any additional fees but this is a major weakness in your process/system as: (1) someone could have damaged the vehicle after it was return; (2) someone could have accessed the cargo bay which didn't have a lock (cab was locked); (3) I have no opportunity to dispute charges before being charged; (4) I chose this location because it said it was open until at least 6PM (if not 8 PM as I recall). While the dollar amount in question is not substantial, it's a matter of principle of being charged without prior consent/discussion plus the risk I was placed in for turning it in without inspection.Kevin B.
The customer service agent took 30 minutes to get the paperwork right for the rental and the correct price. She was very dude and aggressive about her being correct on price. It was charging me double. When I returned the truck it said i was late and tried charging my credit card instead if cash the double amount once again. Same lady, rude as all get out, cussing nasty nasty stuff in front of my 3 yesr old. It was really a nightmare of an experience. Her bosses were no help but sure eyed my wife like she was candy. I had to waste so much of the gas and miles to get to this location, 15 of my 30 miles were travel from Centralia to this location. $20 i. Refueling costs. I am super disappointed in this place and will be letting orhers know our experience.Brian L.

We returned our vehicle within our time, had to wait for service to get gas to top it off, then wait to return the key to the owner/manager. We asked if they had a mop to clean up water from the rain, no, wouldn't lend us one. We tried to rent another truck from them and we're told no because they didn't know how to do it. Now I'm being charged an extra day price for truck and insurance.Michelle G.

Make sure that you LISTEN and follow through with directionbs from the home office. They told you NOT to charge me for the third day i was stucvk in mud but you charged me anyway. And NOW i have to wait who KNOWS how long for some "dispute" to be resolved even though you all KNOW I wadnt supposed to be chatged for third day.WILLIAM R.

I had reserved a trailer on-line at the Yelm, WA location. It was not there to pick up. The owner of that location said that next time just call my office here in Yelm, because online orders/reservations I NEVER SEE!!! So that gentleman went out on a limb and started calling all over. He finally found one and it was over 40 miles away. Where it took the gentleman forever to fill out the online paperwork and take payment. It was a nightmare. And because it was the 4th of July weekend a trailer I thought was reserved was NOT there for me to pick up. Then I got notice from you yesterday via e-mail that said my transaction was not complete. I had to have my son in Idaho, go to the U-haul where he dropped it off and make it right! Never again!!!!!Cheryl L.

Would have rated excellent, but the person in charge had to have the truck back earlier than the full 24 hours because they had promised it to someone else. We had to cut our use short in order to have it back before noon, and got it there 10 minutes early. But they were very user-friendly otherwise, easiest rental we ever did. It would help if your locations had at least one more 10-footer available since they are the most popular. Whitney at Grant''s Towing was the most helpful person, who checked around until she located an available truck and reserved it for us. She has excellent customer service skills and we will call her first next time! She took time to make sure we were takenot care of even though we weren't renting from her location.ruth M.

Lack of knowledge of the person running it. I explained 5 times I had a reservation online and went through all the online check in process and He was unable to figure it out and I had to go behind the counter and help him. Should of only taken 20 min and I was there for over an hour.Seyerle B.

I reserved a 4' X 8' covered trailer weeks in advance ... when I went to the site where I reserved the trailer no 4' X 8' trailer was there .... Grants Towing in Chehalis, WA. Grants called Uhaul and was told that there was a 4' X 8' trailer a few miles away. I went to the site ( A Chevron Station located on Hwy 6 outside of Chehalis, WA) and tried to rent the trailer but the hitch mechanism was so badly rusted that I could not fit it on my truck hitch. After a half hour of trying the owner of the business told me that he would rent me a 5' X 8' trailer for the same price .... I did not want a larger trailer .... but I had no choice .... Why was I not told where to go to pick up the trailer ? Who is responsible for maintaining the trailers ? The 4' X 8' trailer looked like it was built in the 1950's and the hitch was badly rusted --- totally unusable for anyone. I was not happy with Uhaul then and I am not happy now .... one other item ---- the dealer where I ultimately rented the 5' X 8' had a printer that was just about out of ink .... I was given rental documents that were mostly unreadable. Very poorly run operation. Does Uhaul ever sell any of their trailers? I am looking for a used 4' X 8' one.... please let me know.david S.

Retailer was fabulous! They really tried hard to make my experience a good thing. The Uhaul computer reservation system was terrible! I walked in to make my reservation for a 26' or largest truck. When I arrived no 26' or 20'trucks were available. On checkout to leave the computer was posting a $63,000 mileage charge. My retailer got on the phone to resolve with U-Haul. I got the phone to speak with a uhaul rep and they were courteous and told me I would be given a $50 one time off credit and it was not placed on my final bill for the credit. I was told beforehand that the fee for the rental truck is 29.95 however when my husband paid the receipt it stated 39.95. I am not happy about it but due to the fact I had already left out of town I couldn't go in myself to addresss the issue. I will be mindful next time about this when going over the prices. Overall this location was friendly but I had a hard time communicating with the younger gentlemen who helped us out at first. He was very soft spoken and i had a hard time hearing anything he was saying. It would be nice if all of your employees would be trained to access your uHual network for faster service.CLAUDIA G.
Guy was a idiot plain and simple had no idea what he was doing what i was renting. I had reserved the trailer the day before. No d rings in the trailer they were broken off, The hitch was so worn it would barley tighten on the ball. The main complaint was the guy,he was just a IDIOT.
