Our storage area suffered damage unbeknownst to us (not the owner's fault). The ceiling fiberglass insulation and sheathing fell down on our storage items along with substantial water leakage of about 6" inundated our boxes. Moral of the story: get renter's insurance (for this location anyway). Owner's weren't exactly empathetic as much as we rented our unit in good faith.Doug B. | Overall Experience

The woman was very nice, courteous and helpful. The man that answered the phone was not. He said he didn't open until 10 and I told him I was told I could pick up truck at nine. He said read the sign! I think this was rude on his part. As I said before the woman that did help was tremendously courteous. I set up my drop off location at James Island, SC. During my drive, I received a text to return it to Morth Charleston,SC. I called the uhaul dispatch & they said neither location were accepting drop offs, take it to King Street, Charleston, SC, which I did. I asked for my deposit to be credited back & the grumpy sales lady said if I paid with credit, I had no deposit charge. I did. My charge should be $58 for the vehicle tow dolly. I am due my $60 something deposit back & would appreciate it if you do so. I have all of my paperwork & paid a deposit.dawn C.
Help in hook up needs to get better. All the same- good service and was extremely helpful in getting my rental. There was a screw up as the location I was supposed to pickup the 6'x12' trailer with opening doors as requested was not there! A discount was supposed to occur for my inconvenience but that never occurred! I had to travel an extra twenty (20) miles to get the trailer I requested and required!Stephen S.
When I arrived the lady behind the counter was super sweet. We went out to look at my trailer I was using and proceeded to get it on my truck. After several failed attempts the kind lady got her husband outside to help. After we had everything hooked up he proceeds to tell me that the trailer is sitting to high and I need to flip my hitch. He walks off and refuses to help me do so. Upon returning the trailer I realized I was not given a dolly that was highly needed for my move. I was refunded my money but this made my move a lot more complicated. When I arrived to return the trailer the kind lady behind the desk asked if I knew how to back the trailer up. I informed her I could not and that I would need assistance. She could have went and got her husband right then but she refused and wanted me to do it. After 10 minutes of her getting frustrated that I could not back the trailer up her husband finally comes out. He lets me just back the trailer out the way and says he will move it the next day. With my trailer I thought every uhaul trailer would have a jack so that it can be taken on and off with ease. The trailers these people had did not and it was quite frustrating once I needed the trailer off and could not life it by myself. I was very disappointed with the place and I will not be going back to this location. If I didn't love the conscience of uhaul trailers I would refuse to use the company as well.Alison H.

I had to call friends to install car transporter to Haul truck and to load/car to secure car. I did not ask to rent from this place. I am angry that I had to go to this location. I reserved a u-haul at the location in Gautier. I showed up and then they informed me I had to drive well out of my way to another location. Because of this inconvenience I had to drive 30 miles out of the way to finally get the U-haul. I am not happy about what I had to go through to get this u-haul.Jamie R.

We rented a uhaul to move our stuff from Lucedale, MS to Leakesville,MS. THE UHAUL places in Lucedale were not opened, so we had to drive over 20 miles(1 way) to this place in order to get a truck. The lady at this place seemed clueless. She informed us that we had to bring the truck back to her instead of dropping it off at a Lucedale location. When we took the truck back as instructed, we told us that it would have been a whole lot cheaper had we dropped it in Lucedale. She even told us that had we done that, we would have only had to pay 40 cents a mile instead of 99 cents. She seemed to find it that because we did as she had instructed, we had to pay about twice what we should have paid. I have always used uhaul trucks everything we needed to move, but after paying so much that we didn't have to pay, I think we will be using another company in the future. That lady deliberately costed us more than we should have paid, and the truck we used was in horrible shape. After replacing the gas in the truck, we spent over $300 to make two loads from Lucedale to Leakesville. This is unexceptable. And the fact that she found it funny was insulting.Rebecca M.

This location saved me. I had rented a uhaul at the Pascagoula Market Street location a couple of weeks ago. At the last minute, we were told we had to go to the Pascagoula location at Shortcut road. I went at 8:30 AM and they did not have a truck. So, you can give yourself low marks for those two; however, Second Hand Storage did a great job and helped us.patty H.

first make sure that the equipment is there. i made a reservation and the trailer was not there nor could they contact the person who had it. we had to find a different location to pick up at and luckly they had one. as we were short on time this was a large hassle. then of corse the trailer was diged up and had spots on it so we had to go around and put x on the spots so we wouldnt get charged for it. whats funny is i got a call two days after i droped the trailer of saying that they had the trailer ready for me if i still needed it. i was back in ohio by the time that call came.APRIL S.
Employ people with the knowledge and training to complete paperwork and give the correct information to the renting customer. Wrong information was written due to the agent was not sure on how to complete the order. Agent kept making phone calls to others trying to find out how to complete order and still got it wrong, therefore I would not recommend this site to anyone. I would tell anyone to report any business like this to the Better Business Bureau just as I am planning to do. Especially for withdrawing money from someone's bank account without informing them first. If a fee/paperwork was completed in error the customer as well as the agent should be contacted. A customer should not have to pay for a workers mistake. I am so furious about the whole situation. Dolly was rented for overnight with location of home being what's on the contract and to be turned in-in Indianola, MS. Now money is still coming out of our bank account without informing us of what the charges are and why.ALBERT D.
