The U haul self service is a way for Uhaul to outsource the work of the transaction to the customer and is not appreciated.

Krystina EWe got to the office but no one was there. Called the number at the door but it must have been the U-Haul central number. We were confused and somewhat upset. Then the rep showed up and we were able to starr reserving the truck. The process was not very clear. We had questions but the answers were not convincing. Finally we did reserve the truck for the following day. We returned the following day to find out that the U-Haul office in Petaluma's where we would leave our truch was not available anymore.. We had to go to a near city to deliver our truck. The rep was really a nice guy but needed to know more about the process.

Chris VThe rental truck only had 1/4 tank of gas which caused me to incur an additional gas stop.I would expect the truck to be full so I could return it full and not have to guess on the amount of gas used.
Greg CMy recent experience renting a vehicle from U-Haul's El Dorado Hills facility was, on the whole, a positive one. The vehicle I rented was in excellent condition and performed without any issues. One standout feature was the convenience of using the mobile app for check-in and check-out. However, the mobile app, while functional, could benefit from some enhancements. During the check-out process, it took me approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the required steps. The primary issue I encountered was with the app's interface, which lacked intuitive navigation. For instance, upon opening the app, I expected to see a prominent orange button guiding me through the initial steps of the check-out process. Instead, I was presented with my reservation details and a text line that said "view/edit," among other information. The "check out" option was buried within this text, making it less obvious for users who might not be familiar with the online process. Another challenge was during the check-out process, where users must acknowledge disclaimers and scroll down to check the "OK" box. On a small smartphone screen, this step could easily be overlooked, potentially causing delays for users. While the mobile app offers convenience and efficiency, improving its user-friendliness and clarity in guiding users through the rental process would enhance the overall experience. Despite these interface challenges, my rental experience at the El Dorado Hills facility was positive, and I would consider using U-Haul again in the future.

Jon cthe mobile app for picking up and dropping off a truck is great in concept, but the uploading process is terribly slow. It took me over a half hour and help from customer support on the phone to get the mobile app to accept photos of my driver's license.

Karlyn BApp was extremely slow for both check in and check out in good service area. Charged me $15 for the insurance I didn’t want. But it was my third time through the check in process after 30 minutes so I just gave up and submitted it so I could get the truck.

STEVEN JThis location was great for the ease of the location however, the service is extremely spotty. My cell phone showed full service yet when pick up and drop off I could not complete my check out on the app and had to call U-Haul to finish up since I was not doing pick up and drop off during normal business hours. That was the main hassle and issue/complaint. The other location in Cameron Park we used had no issues with app use and service.
Christopher CIt would help out if there was more light or brighter lights near the key boxes at night. Also, the truck I received had the car box full of dust and dirt but had a $25 warning labeled that if not clean upon return, I would be charged that amount.

Chris AThe truck was about 1/8 mile from the lockbox. At pickup and return I had to return to the truck 3 times to get app info. It took me about 30 minutes for each visit. The app was VERY unfriendly: photo taking needed to be done frequently, the info requirements were confusing, the gas was only about 3/8 full at pickup, the lock on the lockbox was very hard to open and close. I gave all the info and photos when I reserved the truck at the pickup location, but I had to resubmit it 4 times total afterwards. It overall was not a friendly experience. Bains was very friendly and helpful.

Arlene LIt took us over 40 minutes to puck up our truck. The automated check in system is not intuitive and difficult to use. Our truck inly had a 1/4 tank of gas and getting through to a live person to report it was difficult. Once we got to the point of retrieving the truck key, the lock was old and difficult to work as well. I would not recommend this lication yo anyone.

alfredo cThere was nobody manning this location, even though it was during normal operating hours. They left a phone number to call on a printout taped to the door, which nobody answered, and the mailbox was full so you couldn't leave a message. Uhaul customer service was able to walk me through picking up the truck with the key dropbox. The dolly and piano dolly I paid for were not in the truck- customer service refunded me but I had to run around town trying to find a dolly. The location never called to see if I had been able to pick up the truck, and the truck shuddered while idling. It was also almost completely out of gas when I picked it up. I found out from friends and family later that this location is notorious for these kinds of problems, and I will not be using them again.

WILLIAM HI looked around for 20 mins trying to find vehicle. It was where mobile app told me to look. And had issues opening lockbox. Had to call for code. Wasn’t smooth process at all. Created a stressful experience.

Thomas MThe location has a problem with theft. I rented a Uhual truck and had to return it with almost a half a tank of gas. I did that and came back the next morning because I could not secure the appliance dolly. When I came back the gas had been siphoned out and I had to put an additional $70 in gas in the truck a second time. All I was told was I didn’t have to do that. I was not given any kind of credit or compensation for my troubles. I was told they have a problem there with people stealing gas. The lady at the storage place is very friendly but I am very disappointed in the security of the place. I would not recommend this location.
RHONDA SOutstanding customer service! I've used Uhaul in the past and this was by far the best I've seen. Thank you to everyone for helping us make a weekend of moving in 100+ degree heat easier. The AC in the truck worked great and was my favorite part of the move. 😊

We had spoken to Alison las\t year when we were first planning our move to EDH, she was amazing then as well. We did not rent at her units as we need drive up access. Thank you
Colin AExcellent truck rental experience. Only suggestion is that you clarify in the online instructions where to park the truck when it is returned. Instructions say to park it on the lot but all the trucks are parjed up on the street.

I've used the location twice now for truck rentals and she helped me get a storage close to the elevator so I could move my things as easily as possible. 5 stars!

She was very professional and acknowledged my written quote, but had to charge me the increased amount because that was the amount in her computer. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.
