The odometer and the contract had exactly 40 miles difference before the truck was driven off the lot. The contract had 40 miles more. So even before I started the engine, if I didn't check, I would owe 40 miles cost to UHaul. Bad business practice at worst, incompetence at minimum.

The communication between U-Haul and this location was not good. I had filled out all needed information for the Express Check-In, but KASL Printing had very little of it. It would be great for U-Haul to work on this for the non-U-Haul companies it partners with. Also, it was not clear when booking that the truck would potentially be at a different location. I had requested to pickup from a particular U-Haul spot because I had a storage unit that I was clearing out. The possibility of a different pickup location may have been in fine print somewhere, but was not obvious during the online booking process. It would also be great if U-Haul would make this clear going forward.

Attitude of owner was not very friendly. Made me feel like he was doing me a favor by renting me the vehicle. Used non-standard procedure to account for gas tank level at start of rental period where gas was not filled up to level indicated on the rental contract but offer a small credit which I don't know if was enough to account for the difference between actual gas level of that marked on the contract.

The van we rented was not clean, and reeked of urine. The person who rented it to us said he had no other vans available and was unable to smell the stench himself because he smokes. The back was visibly dirty though and had not even been swept out. We had to drive with the windows down and even then it was intolerable. Fortunately, it was a very short trip.

They force all customers to purchase the $10 insurance, even if your car insurance already covers these kinds of rentals. They also close at 2pm on saturday and you have to park on the street and leave the key in a lock box that every other customer has access to - it doesn't seem very secure.
