I really can't think of anything specific to improve. The whole process went very well and with excellent professionalism, unlike some other U-Hall facilities in Salem. The only thing that might help is a signal at the left-turn into the driveway from West-bound Dallas hwy. But that is way beyond your control. People just drive too fast on that road even with the dedicated turn lane.QUENTIN T.

My reservation was for a different location. I received a call telling me my reservation was moved to a different facility. I had to question them to get the info for the new location I was being sent to. The agent was about to hang up the phone without telling me where I was supposed to pick up my rental. Turns out my rental was changed to so location in a different county than where I even live. There were closer facilities to me than the one I was moved to and upon arrival I found that the person who called me never actually moved the rental to the new facility. I lucked out that they happened to have 1 auto transport trailer left. The main point here is, if you have an agent call to change the reservation to a different location, make sure they actually complete the job and move it. Also, making sure they select a location as close as possible to the original one would be best, not just another location in the same city. Maybe shoot for the same county at the very least. I have rented equipment many times from Uhaul but this was the worst experience I have ever had. If this had been the first time doing business with Uhaul, it would have been my last. Your saving grace is my prior experience and the lady working the rental desk at KD Sand and Gravel. Kudos to her.DANIEL B.

When I arrived at KD Sand & Gravel there was a sign posted on the door that said "I will be back in 30 min". I went in and rang the bell, but nobody answered. After waiting for 30 minutes, I went back in and the owner said he was there the whole time. That was really frustrating, but after that the owner was very nice to work with.JEREMY R.

Everything was going great until a hateful old man showed up claiming to be the owner of this business. I was returning a pick up truck on a Sunday and the business was scheduled to be closed so I was returning via uhaul.com. This old man parks in front of the truck and comes directly over to me, asks if Im returning the truck and then tells me to come with him to the shop to return the truck. I told him No and that Ive almost completed the return on my phone. He replied with, â€œI'm the owner of the truck, just give me the keysâ€! I told him No because I dont know who he is and Im not giving the keys to some rando when I got the keys from the lockbox on a day when uhaul is scheduled to be closed. He cursed at me saying â€˜oh f**k you', and asked where I would return the keys. I told him Ill put them right back where I got them! He cried, â€˜then Ill have to walk all the way down the driveway to get the keys'! I told him thats fine! He replied f**k you again and drove away. I waited for him to walk back down the driveway to get the keys from the lockbox like he said he would do. At that point I took his photo and asked for his name. He refused to give me his name, until I told him I would just pull his business registration and get his name. He then told me his name was Kim and that I could post all the reviews I want. I will never give this location my business ever again and I would advise finding an alternate location as well. Additionally, after looking at other peoples reviews on google it seems this is not his first outlash. Apparently four months ago the owner had an altercation with a different client. The customer wrote in the review that after an arguement the owner threatened to shoot his father and bury him on the property. This was especially disturbing to read since he is the owner of a sand and gravel company where they specialize in digging and filling of holes. Overall his demeanor was unsettling to say the least.Robby A.

The location was way out of the way from where I reserved. U-Haul called and changed it on me. If I had known how much the mile rates were ahead of time would have never agreed to it. I was shocked to get my final bill. The lady running the shop was very kind though. She was polite and gave me good deals on rental equipment, it's not her fault they charge so much. I was not told about the extra 20.00 fee to have u-haul load my car onto the auto transport. I was told when I called to eserve that they would help me hook up the trailer and load the trailer, all included in the rental.Jennifer M.
Overall this location was good. My only suggestion is the woman helping us in the morning was stressed. She told us she'd been there early and already let go of 9 trucks. Positives and negatives: Positive: the equipment (truck) was available on short notice, in very good condition (clean) and worked well. Negative: the truck had 3/4 tank of gas. No problem but difficult to estimate how much gas to add to return the truck with same amount of gas. The mileage price of the truck ($1.59/mi) did not match what was advertised on the internet ($1.19). When I called the phone number for UHAUL I was on hold for more that 30 minutes. I will use UHAUL again, but will scrutinize the fees more closely.Richard W.

I have been a lifelong customer of Uhaul but have never had an experience like this. It was a TERRIBLE moving experience. I moved my truck rental from Vancouver to Portland as I was told verbally it was a guaranteed rental. However, when I went to pick up the truck it was not there and we waited almost 6 hours before finally having to pay someone to drive 2 hours round trip to pick up a truck in Salem. We missed out on our movers, had to scramble to find new help, they had no experience in packing a truck so I had to rent a second truck to fit everything. We were a day late getting out of the house and I also had extensive damage to antique furniture that is irreplaceable and will cost a fortune to restore, if it can even be done. I called to complain and seek a refund or compensation and finally reached a manager who was rude, unhelpful and nasty. I hope I NEVER have to use Uhaul again and will be sharing my experience with anyone who wants to hear it. No reflection on this location but I will never recommend Uhaul to anyone again.Barbara L.

U Haul truck reservation number 90331125 Michele Weiss I first called on 3/15/21 to reserve a 15 ft. truck one way to Salem, Oregon. I waited on line for 9 minutes and was disconnected. Called back and wait 16 minutes before speaking to a person. The service then was good, I asked the person if I had to call and confirm before the pickup date on 3/25, he said no he guaranteed the truck would be at the Sunnyvale local (approx. 7 miles from my home). I called back on 3/18 and changed the pickup time to an earlier time. Also made arrangements for moving help, that service was good, but I have nothing but trouble getting into the program to leave a review for the 5.95 fee handling. On 3/24, I received a call 24 hours before my pick up time telling me there wasn't a 15 ft. truck available, would a 10 ft. work. No a 10 ft. wouldn't work and even though they have 12 ft. trucks showing on the website, there were no 12 ft. truck either. I was given the choice of cubes or driving to pickup truck at San Francisco, approx. 44 miles away from my home. I took the truck in San Francisco option. I called the number for San Francisco location., waited on hold for 41 minutes, and was disconnected. Called back and waited on hold for 31 minutes. I talked to Orry and explained my situation and asked him to have the location call me at or around 5pm to verify the truck would be available for pickup Thursday morning at 8am. They did not call me to verify the truck would be available. When I picked up the truck, no change was made to the mileage on the rentalâ€¦even though U Haul added 44 miles to my actual mileage. First, there is a pattern of issues with your on hold function and being disconnected. Second, your customer service is very poor with the promises of trucks, last minute changes, call backs after a serious change to the reservation, and the information on your website. I realize there can be changes to last minute reservation but I made reservations for a truck 10 days in advance and was told it would be available 7 miles away, not 44 miles away. Third, your app with check out has issuesâ€”the estimate on the fuel level was off on the truck and when we tried to change it errored out. Check out record said 3/8 level and it was closer to 1/8, another customer service issue. I respectfully request a refund of $200. (15%). The experience with your company was not up to any kind of good customer service. Please credit my credit card on file with the refund of $200.MICHELE W.
