I was charged twice. One when we picked up and one when we dropped off. Also we weren't informed that the tank has to be filled up. Directions on google Maps wont indicate the correct entrance to the location. For better indication, enter the UPS center as the destination and head around the back, you should see other U-haul vansJOSEPH U.
Rented a 15' van, the transmission was slipping and my husband , who has driven several of these vans, found it the hardest one to drive. Might want to get it looked at.... I was grateful to have a real person check me I as the website did not fully work.I couldn't log in properly and it said it would send me a new password,but did not. Tried several times. Couldn't do drop off online paperwork either,so was charged extra 20$ .James P.

booked a time slot hours in advance and then waited 1/2 hour for the right person to turn up Peder - no explanatin no apologie. The lady who greeted me on arrival was very nice and said hed be back shortly 10 -15 mins fine but 1/2hr when i booked ahead is poor. This survey is also poor - focusing on location rather than service is a bogus way to get the appearance of better results.david H.

Had the best experience at Kean Auto Services for a first time user of UHaul. Would recommend UHaul first hand out of Kean Auto. Service person Peder for UHaul at Kean Auto gave excellent customer service all around. Have read and heard many horror stories of UHaul services and was apprehensive at first to use their service, but at the end of the day it turned out well for me. My ordeal started when I showed up at 1550 - 10 minutes in advance of my pickup time. I was told to come back at 1630 as the "guy who deals with U-Hauls" was away. This amazing as this timeframe accounted for 1/8 of my 4 hour rental. "The guy" arrived at 1635 and told me to sign in on my phone. I had been trying to do so for the past 40 minutes and, after he got me to demonstrate that I'm not a moron and can read simple directions (didn't know I had to prove that), he reluctantly helped me open the U-Haul. For these 40 minutes I was on hold with your company to ask what to do given that there was no rep and your website couldn't recognize my location even though, yes, my location services were on for the browser and phone in general (again, not a moron). It was a stunning race to the bottom to see which customer service could let me down harder and irritate me more and in the future I will endeavour to go with any other company. Apparently is your website is known to suck and I plan to blast this fact on whatever public forum that I can.Tanja B.

The young boy Peyton who seems to run the place was very good at the computer and serving us to do the things we needed. He had a great attitude and was very polite. The area where he could improve significantly is knowledge about picking up a truck when they are closed. I asked him several times if he could help us figure out how to get the truck earlier than 9:30 AM when he arrives at work for the day.,. He said there was no way I could pick it up before 9:30 AM. I had told him I couldn't afford to pay for an extra two days so that I could pick it up the day before and drop it off a day later just to return it when they were open. I asked him a couple times if there wasn't a way we could solve that problem. But he said no.! Finally my daughter phoned him and asked him several different ways how we could pick up the truck earlier. Finally he relented and said â€œwell I suppose you could check in online and then pick it up early before I get here!!â€That was very very frustrating and stressful!!! He is a lovely polite boy but he needs to learn the U-Haul system a lot better and be able to advise customer on how to solve their problems. He just couldn't seem to figure things out for us. He told my daughter their 9:30 AM opening time was earlier than most U-Haul places! My daughter informed him that she has rented U-Haul trucks in other cities that were open much earlier than that. Also the inside of the truck was not swept out and had lots and lots of dust and dirt on the floor! So we had to do that before we could even start loading our belongings. Some of our couches are white and I was worried that seeing the truck floor hadn't been cleaned adequately it would make our couches dirty!Ruth B.
First issue - I get to my destination to discover the rear door was wide open. No indication from staff that I should check it prior to leaving the lot. Is it common practice to leave the door open while parked? Second issue - I was charged for gas even after putting more that enough into the tank, was not even asked if I had filled it up. How can I be charged $11.44 for gas to cover 12.5 miles? Staff not very communicative, to say the least.john P.

The app doesn't work in Canada. I had to log in using the website, and it took much longer than necessary. Also, for full disclosure, please tell people to have their passport handy for secondary verification. Even better, do this verification the day before pickup so that the day of is much faster.Timothy J.

Same issue as pickup, app said I needed to turn on location services - it was. It was a few minutes after Kean Auto closed, but there was someone in there. While I parked the truck and locked it, he came out and got in his truck and left. I had to pay for an after hours drop off. Not sure why this was worth extra money.Frederick R.

My concern is not with Kean automotive, but with your online system. As I live overseas, I used my current drivers license from the UAE when booking. At the site, your system did not think I was at the right location, even thought google maps showed me right beside the truck. Then, your system asked for an additional piece of ID as I was using my UAE license. DO you carry your passport with you? Is there a reason the system did not ask me for it when I made the reservation? After 40 minutes on the phone, on your website that timed out, someone from Kean was able to help me. Today I get a bill where i have been charged and after hours fee, even though your contract says i must use my mobile to return if it is after hours. It was 1:30pm, AND I am being charged for your coverage that I had to turn down several times in the booking and checking out. Last time i needed a truck National agreed to meet me a location that is closed on weekends just to help me out. I will only call them in the future.David C.
Online booking defaulted me to pick up at 1049 McPhee Ave, Courtenay, BC V9N 3A1. NEVER default someone to 1049 McPhee Ave. Waited 1H 45min for dude to process customer before me. He was competent to hook up equipment. But could not perform the simplest task on his tablet. His knowledge of your IMS was horrendous. I left went to Keen Auto and they had my rental done in 15 minutes. Keen Auto UHaul 5 stars, clean, friendly, helpful. (1049 McPhee, Disorganized employee woefully unfamiliar with your software (1 out of 5 stars)).William G.

Your reservation system sucks. Had what I needed booked a week in advance, the day before pickup, was told I would have to drive 45 min to another town to get what I needed. I rebooked for 2 weeks later, day before was told I would have to take a smaller trailer or drive to another town to get one. After driving 45 min and waiting 30 min to pick it up, was told there was none there. Had to go to another location and finally someone who seemed to know what they were doing. I do not recommend booking on line, as uhaul doesn't seem to keep their word after online system says â€œconfirmedâ€! The guy at keens auto was very helpful, but no one else at uhaul seemed to care about my time or schedule.Robert W.

When I went in he was very short with me. Gave me the paperwork and key and said I think you know where it is. Never did a walk through. Never showed me anything on the rental forms or gave me my forms that I needed for insurance which I said I didn't want and the guy said it was mandatory. Which it is not. The uhaul Was disgusting and there was ashes in the ashtray. I found old food that my son almost ate. There was no inspection sticker on the uhaul either from their lot. And when I called the main uhaul office and told them about the insurance thing I had an area manager named teddy dfantis call me and pretty much call me a liar on the phone and was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this location to anyone ever and I've contacted a lawyer to deal with the situation as I feel I've been taken for a ride.John W.

The Westlock U-Haul was trying to charge us 55 miles of our mileage allowance. What was bull shit cause we were allowed 400 likes more then we drove. NEVER again. And I didn't get money back for cleaning the truck or no dolly in the truck when I got it in the first place. BULL SHIT.JODELL W.

I've twice used them for drop pff's. They are fast, polite and efficient. The premises are clean and organized. You are doing everything you should be doing in my opinion. Perhaps the only suggestion I could make is better signage of your location.George S.
