Youyan ZhangExperience was okay. The U-Haul application was not great. It took over 20 minutes to just get it to work when picking up. My drop off location was also changed without me knowing. I have a confirmation email that has a different drop off location than the one it was changed to on the day of the rental. I had to drop off at the original pickup location, which was thankfully still within 20 minutes of driving distance.

Corina MunteanuThe people at this location were fine. The app to return the vehicle did not work. It froze up multiple times and would not allow me to enter information to return. I had to call the 24 hour service 4 times to get it returned. I won’t use again because of this issue. (Also, my step son said he had the exact same problem with this app).

Ronald WoodyI picked up the truck and the gas tank was HALF full and I was told to refill it only 1/2 full when I returned the truck. However, I was running out of time and could not fill the tank back up so I allowed you guys to refill it and I was charged for a FULL tank of gas,, despite not using even close to that.

Karina VerkampThe Van rented was very dirty outside - bird poop everywhere and the windshield was full of bug kill - had to clean it when home so could see properly. The tire pressure warning light was on at time of inspecting before taking - talked to the lady and she said it had been inspected on Monday, 8/28 and was cleared as okay. The indicator stated 59 psi passenger side, rear tire. It was lit the entire time and by that evening stated 58 psi; the following morning 57 psi.... I have rented at this location before. I have not run into these issues before. They should really make sure that their equipment is "ready" before a customer arrives. Customer should not have to inflate tires and clean windows so they can safely drive a vehicle they are paying to rent.

SCOTT HEYDEWe have rented a UHaul from here before and the same size (15'). The first one was a pick up and drop off different location and this one was pick up and drop off same location. However the one we just booked had a dolly and bag of blankets zip tied to the truck, taking up valuable space that we couldn't use. If we snipped the ties to get the items out for space, we would be charged. Was this because this truck was for a local move (hence why the items were in the truck)? We chose not to get the dolly or bags, but they were in the truck anyway taking up space we needed to move. I wish they weren't there at all.
Brandion BerglundCustomers are tired after moving. Requiring them to submit pictures upon return is a bad policy. It’s just transferring the work the location should be doing to the customer. It’s enough to make a customer not want to rent from U-Haul.
Christopher MetcalfThe app stopped working during turn in and would not let me add the pictures of the inside of the truck storage and then it just said no reservations at this time. I am hoping everything else went well and there are no issues with turn in.
Erik SkuttI had tried calling several times and the call wouldn't go through or give me a chance to leave a message. This was during normal business hours. The following are comments about U-Haul and not Michigan Road Self Storage. U-Haul is the worst. To finally get the truck, I spent approximately 3 hours in phone calls. 2 long calls because the app wouldn't work (needed for returning truck after hours). The app wouldn't show my reseveration and customer support said they were confused. Also, multiple calls because when it was time to check in online, it said that U-Haul didn't have the vehicle that I needed. I actually rebooked at a different location because U-Haul said I would be guaranteed to have the vehicle requested. However, at check-in, that new site also said they didn't have the vehicle and there was no way to know if the vehicle would be there or not when I got there. In order to get to the destination, I had to drive over an hour before U-Haul was even open to confirm that there would be a vehicle when I got there. As previously noted elsewhere, I had order shipping pads and they weren't available when I picked up the truck. Then on returning the truck, the app didn't work as intended either. Actually, while I had the truck, everything worked fine. It was all the work of trying to get a confirmed reservation that was so frustrating.

William StaffordMy 2nd U-haul rental this yr; both not smooth. This time the p/u location was changed to 47 miles away from chosen site in reservation I'd made nearly a month in advance. In addition to the obvious inconvenience and added time on our part, this add'l mileage would cut us close on the included mileage amount; I was assured by person calling to change the location that I would not be charged and was told at p/u that the 47 miles was added to included mileage. Sure enough, after drop off I received an emailed receipt for charge for 1 mile over, meaning the mileage was not adjusted. In addition, I'd paid up $5 online during initial reservation process for a mattress cover; since site was changed, I not only had to pay onsite at p/u for another cover, but was told that independent retailers had to pay for shipping, so that amt was added to my purchase. This made it a $15 payment to the p/u retailer,; added to initial $5 online payment, this brought the total paid to $20 for piece of cheap plastic. The extra $ for the mileage and mattress cover is not the issue; it's a matter of principle and annoyance. I not only was extremely inconvenienced by change of pick up site (despite reserving almost a month early), but assurance of mileage adjustment was not followed through and there was no way to adjust for my previous mattress cover purchase. The sites and personnel were absolutely fine; this all appeared to be corporate procedures.

The only problem we had was with the after-hours return. After several tries, and after following the prompts exactly, the system could not identify our location, which became a bit frustrating. We finally just locked the van and dropped the keys in the lockbox.
