I have been a frequent renter of Uhaul car trailers and dollies. My local dealer is Dean at Oconomowoc Wi Auto sales. In early Oct. Dean scheduled me to pick-up a car hauler in Jefferson GA. They had five haulers on hand. It cost me $286. Dean has no car haulers assigned to his location. He told me trailers accumulate down south this time of year and as an incentive, Uhaul cuts the rate to bring them north??? Uhaul called me on the road and told me I had four days to turn it in. Dean called me after two days and asked if I could return it early for another customer. For this trip the cost of picking up a trailer in NC was again about $286, so I asked for a local trailer. Again Dean had none. I had to pick it up in Sullivan, 35 miles away. I was scheduled to pick it up at 5:30 PM after closing?? I picked it up early, about 1PM. I loaded a VW to drop off in IL.but the left load ramp would not stow. I found it was not the same as the right ramp and the underside ramp structure did not clear the retention latch. I had to lay on the ground under the trailer, hold the latch open with one hand while lifting the ramp with my outstretched leg and with my free hand pull the ramp into stored position. A difficult task in the rain. I had to repeat this proceedure in IL. and NC and WI, all on wet ground.Additionally one of the right tail lights did not function. On the second day at 1PM the Sullivan dealer called me while I was hauling through TN, he needed the trailer at that time for another customer. Obviously short scheduling was not going to work. A half hour later as I was negotiating Interstate changes in Knoxville in the rain I get a call from the Uhaul district rep admonishing me for being late with the trailer and inconveniencing a customer that wanted to take my trailer to New York. He told me Uhaul would charge me another day BUT he wanted the trailer back in Sullivan early, by 10AM for the other customer. He was not concerned that the Sullivan dealer is closed on Sunday and that the trailer required repair. I feel Uhaul is not managing their car haulers to meet customer needs, not maintaining the trailers properly, and not treating return customers like me appropriately. I will look hard at alternatives the next time I rent a trailer.

They did not have the original 26' foot truck like I had asked for and they did not have an appliance dolly that I had on my order so I had to go to another location to find a dolly. Not very enjoyable
