Man came from around the outside of building, no name given, no company name tag or clothing indicating his association with U-haul. Put on face mask (COVID-19 ok), would not let me enter office. We conducted â€˜business' on railing outside shop, odd. Just seemed sketchy to me. No printed receipt or contract, his 2 recently purchased printers weren't able to connect to his system. Upon returning the van, encountered another employee, who did provide his name. I anticipated him checking mileage and condition of van, did not happen, he didn't even check to see if we locked vehicle on the back lot. Boss (man I dealt with upon pick up) called employee and was told to lock up and walk away from me. He did as instructed and explained it was 5:01 and needed to lock up. I had been instructed to have the van back prior to 7:00 PM. Perhaps just different business styles and consumer expectations based on past u-haul rental experiences. Perhaps interaction with a smaller business (store front, inventory, working equipment to run office). It all worked out, we rented the van, completed our task, returned the van with 8 additional miles, full tank of gas, and clean. I am waiting to see if $ coming back to me actually does.JES R.
When we arrived at the location for pick-up (on time), the door to the business had a handwritten sign that stated they were closed for a few days (including our pick-up day). We went through the process of getting the vehicle on mobile and figured out the U-Haul was behind a locked gate. We spent 1 hour trying to talk to other tenants and on the U-Haul help line trying to get access to the vehicle. We tried three different numbers for No Limit Services (facebook, website and the number provided by U-Haul) all of which had been disconnected. Eventually, the owner saw us standing by the locked gate on his security camera and drove to the location to let us in. It was nearly 2 hours before we were able to drive off in the vehicle. It also didn't have a dolly in it as requested, but the owner was able to go and get one for us. I won't be using U-Haul for my next rental, nor will I recommend them to others. I will say that the customer service reps on the phone were pleasant and sympathetic, however, they weren't able to resolve the issue and I was passed around and hung up on multiple times.Curtis H.

It was hard to figure out where to park the truck and in general. It was behind a building. There was a sign of where to go, but once you were in the return area, it was unclear where to park the truck we were returning. The person who helped us was good.James M.

The man at this location was so rude, unprofessional and made my daughters and I feel like we were an inconvenience to him. We had a 1pm time and didn't leave until 1:45 which threw off everything. Several other people had been waiting over an hour and some even left. This guy was unbelievable with how he spoke to me and his demands like opening his windows or being a smart ass. Verizon does not work at this location. I was told to try standing by road.. The app kept freezing when I'd get service because I'd lose the connection. Additionally the person working there was so uncomfortable to be around I would not choose this location again.Lisa F.

First of all, the trailer was not at the correct location and it had a popped tire. This was not communicated to me until we tried to pick it up. This ended up putting us way behind schedule. When we were finally able to pick up the trailer the customer service was terrible. Whoever was helping us was extremely rude and impatient. There was little to no signage so we were confused as to what was required from us. I'm very disappointed in this experience and I will lost likely look into another service the next time I need to move.Paige N.

There were so many things wrong. I would like to talk to the Corporate owner. My friends, Randy & Lyn Parker drove the truck from CO to TX without ANY AC! The front windshield molding was flapping for 22 hrs! The whole truck sounded like it was falling apart. They are lucky to be alive! I requested a FULL REFUND and was given $300. that I did NOT okay. I tried calling the 1-800 # and the local #'s multiple times to be kept on hold for up to 30 minutes and NEVER talk to anyone!!!! I want an "OBJECTION COMPLAINT FORM"philles E.

The sign was so small I could not see it. Customers were not allowed into office. They would not except used u-haul boxes to give to other customers and in fact would have charged me the cleanup fee. I swept the truck before returning it but was accused of not sweeping it at all...it bordered on insulting. At least he lent me a broom to sweep it again.Paul G.

Why is renting a moving truck locally for a day so much more difficult than getting a rental car when i travel for business? I can rent an $80k car/track in less than 10 min max but a moving truck is sooo much harder. They had to call my wife to verify before the rental was approved. are you kidding? If this is what i have to deal with i will find other options. I rent cars 2-3 times per month and even when things don't go smooth, those deals are way easier than renting a moving truck. You must be able to simplify this. i was stunned and frustrated and could not belive it was really that hard.ELBERT R.

The check in process took almost an hour. There were only 2 employees working, one of which just seemed to disappear after 5 minutes, leaving the other guy alone. The key wasn't in the lock box so we had to have the lone employee running all over helping us. It just seemed way too disorganized.James M.

Kasold always good service , truck was a little â€œuntidyâ€ ... we returned it in Fort Collins , to the most unfit, rude employee , Who completely refuse to come outside and check the truck with me... after speaking with customer service this evening when I noticed a $25 charge on the credit card statement I found out he said the truck was dirty. Trust me after years and years of renting from U-Haul I have never been charged an extra charge or lift anything dirty. If this charge is not reversed I will never use U-Haul or PenskeROBERT S.
The staff were very unprofessional. Took about 45 minutes to pick up the van even though we did the pre check in because the employee was very flustered. Hekept repeating himself and saying, â€œSorry I can't rememberâ€ and when I would say you already said that on multiple occasions his response was, â€œSorry I wasn't paying attention.â€ He texted me multiple times through out the day, including him asking me to call him and when I did it was about nothing new that we hadn't talked about when I picked up the van, and once again he apologized and said he forgot he already told me. The personnel were OK but it was very diificult to drop off--hard to find and hard to find anyone to help us. After we found someone to come out to help us return the vehicle, everything went OK, but it still is very tricky--signage is very hard to find and figure out.CAROLE L.

This experience was terrible. I will NEVER use U-Haul again, and anytime a friend or family is moving, I will certainly share how UNHELPFUL the online checkin experience was...and how pointless your 1-800 number is. On your website, you might consider telling your future customers that they need to have Chrome downloaded on their phone. I only had Safari, and I sat outside for 45 minutes (my husband had to drop me off because we only had one car) while I tried to figure out what to do about the â€œWe cannot recognize your locationâ€ message I kept receiving on the UHAUL website. This was crazy making. (My fingers were getting so cold, my phone wasn't perceiving my touch. I'm sure you can imagine how frustrating that was.) Once I downloaded Chrome, your checkin system worked fine...but that was a long and very cold (around 30 degrees) 45 minutes trying to figure it out. Unrelated (but equally frustrating), I have NO IDEA why the latest time I could possibly choose to pick it up was 6 am. That is crazy. For future reference, a later pickup time than 6 am would be a better idea. We've never had any trouble with U-Haul before, but this experience was SO FRUSTRATING. We lost 45 minutes from our move, so we didn't actually get to finish moving all of our stuff. We had to make multiple car trips to move the remaining things, because we lost that 45 minutes when I was sitting outside the pickup location, waiting on hold (the 1-800-GO UHAUL number is kind of a joke...I was on hold for 20 minutes waiting to talk to someone, and eventually hung up and tried to figure it out myself) and trying to figure out how my phone could transmit my location to your website (apparently it just didn't like Safari...or Safari couldn't transmit my location, even though I checked my settings and it was set on â€œShare my locationâ€). I feel kind of badly writing all this negative stuff...but truly, this was a very disappointing experience. Feel free to refund us if you want us to have something positive about this extremely frustrating truck rental. Respectfully, KimKimberly S.

We originally booked one day to move out of our house on a Saturday and unfortunately ran into the local transfer site closing down due to high winds and wouldn't be open until the following Monday (mind you we had the entire truck stuffed with household stuff we were needing to throw out) - Shawn was great about explaining what our options were since we potentially had to extend the reservation - thankfully things worked out and we were able to get the truck back in time! Pick up was scheduled for 9AM. I got a text at 8.30 from Shawn with a link and request to make the payment. I did that before leaving home. When we got there the store was closed and a note on the door was saying to call and then wait patiently until someone comes.. He showed up about 20 minutes later. He insisted on us checkin in online. We tried but my phone signal was low and it was taking a long time to load. He seemed upset and kept pushing me to continue checking in online even though I was telling him that the website is not loading due to poor phone data coverage and that he needs to be patient. Finally I finished the online checkin. He wasn't sure if the insurance was already included in the amount I paid earlier. After taking some time, he texted me that the insurance was included. After few other minutes he told me that I need to pay 89 dollars. I asked why. He told me is taxes. I told him that I remember seeing taxes included when I paid earlier...he got angry and proceeded to tell me that that's what it is and that if I want the car I need to pay. I told him I need an explanation, I need to know what I am paying for. He kept saying that is not his problem, that's what he is seeing that I still owe him 89 dollars. At that point I told him that i will have to call UHaul and get an answer, as he clearly doesn't know. He came out of the truck, locked the truck and left with the keys, telling me that I should get ahold of him when I am ready to pay him the money. I have to mention that this whole interaction took place via texts and a brief phone conversation, while he was in the truck parked a little further away from my car. (My car was parked right in front of the store) and it took about 50 minutes. I called the UHaul general contact number and a nice gentleman explained to me that i do indeed owe 89 dollars but it wasn't for taxes. It was for the insurnace, as that wasn't included in the initial payment. I paid and when back to the store to get the truck. I texted the guy telling him that he needs to come and deal with it with professionalism. He said that he doesn't have to help me because I was the one not wanting to deal with him. We picked up the truck key form the box and left without seeing or talking to him. It was an extremely stressful and frustrating experience, he was totally unprofessional, not knowledgeable and with absolutely no customer service skills. I felt stuck...with $1,250 already paid and dealing with a guy who left telling me to find him when I am ready to pay him more money...without telling me why I need to pay him more. 2 hours later we finally left with the truck.Liliana B.

I reserved my truck for 10am. It was 11:40 a.m. when we drove away!!!!!!! I was converted to a on line rental. I had to set up an account & and go thru multiple steps my original agreement said I could avoid. Ok, here's the problem. I arrived after hours to drop off the vehicle. I had no other choice as we finished unloading late, and I had to return to my home town that evening. I figured I'd drop the keys in a lock box and that was that. There was a young man there, who told me he worked for Uhaul (he was using a leaf-blower to clean the lot); he informed me that I had to complete the on-line drop off service. I was not aware of this. And, when I went to the UHaul website and attempted to complete the dropoff, the application told me that I had no reservation or rentals. Obviously, that's not correct. I tried calling UHaul but after several minutes of waiting, decided I had to get going. I was dead in the water. I pointed this all out to the young man who told me UHaul would charge me an extra $20 if I didn't fill out the on-line drop off application. I did make a full video of the vehicle in case there were any questions about condition, and I returned it with more gas than was in it when I picked it up (just over half full when I picked it up; nearly full when I returned it). I couldn't wait around as it was an hour back to my home, so I dropped the key in the lock box and left. Not happy with this part of the experience. And, if UHaul charged me extra, I've not been notified of that. Also, note that there is no sign on the UHaul door informing after-hours folks where the lock box is located. I initially dropped the key in the mailbox outside the door -- which seemed to dumb to me since the key, and thus the truck, could be easily stolen -- and then the young man informed me the lock box was on the side of the building (I retrieved my key). I wasn't the only one who made this mistake as there was a key in the mailbox already. That needs to be fixed.Robert L K.

I had to wait 2 hours at the pick up location for the truck- not because it's wasn't there- it was!- but because the idiot working there couldn't figure out how to do his job. With at least 5 people waiting for their trucks, he spent over 45 mins sweeping out & cleaning the windows of a truck that was none of ours. He was totally inept, unwilling to help anyone & made everyone there pickup their truck with the online pickup, which we all did, but none of us could access the keys until he finally decided to acknowlege us & provided them. Then Uhaul stilled charged me for the 2 hours I wasted there! Totally unacceptable.Alison W.

The Uhaul website allowed me to reserve a truck for a location that was not open on Tuesdays. A message was left after 7 pm on a business phone the night before the rental was planned, even though I made the reservation two weeks ahead of time. The staff member that was at the second location was clearly overworked and took his frustrations out on us.Melanie D.
Charged for a cleaning fee when the truck was neat and clean; blankets returned folded, etc. When asked to speak with someone in authority, they were contacted by the on-site help and it was related to me they were too busy! 3 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to pick up a reserved and paid for truck. The owner was unprofessional, rude and purposely dragged out the process. He flat out said he wouldn't help fix a problem and that we had to call you but when we called we were told he was confused, there was no problem. And yet it still took another hour and a half to get our truck. He called my husband an asshole. He had 4 people all scheduled for 9. We were the only ones in the parking lot at 9 and yet the last person who could leave. Worst experience with any company we've ever used. You can improve it for the next customer by not over scheduling and not using this 3rd party.Brent B.
The pick up location is sketchy and appears very unprofessional. The franchise owner is extremely unprofessional and belittling to customers. While we were onsite he was angry the entire time, taking out his anger on not only us but 4 other customers. It appeared his main issue was that we 'all showed up at once' (not true, but regardless I would think as a business owner you would be happy to see customers showing up). In addition it took more than an hour and 15 minutes for us to obtain the rental that had been booked weeks in advance online. My daughter had made the reservation and he was extremely rude towards her. The truck we were to pick up had not been cleaned and the franchisee gave us excuses that this was his Monday (although it was Tuesday) and the vehicle had been turned in over his weekend and he had not had time to clean it. Seems like if you were running a business and making money from clients you would do what it takes to deliver as promised and on time. Additionally we tried to reach out to him around 8 a.m. via phone to let him know some moving logistics were going to run us about 30 minutes late to the location and there was no answer at the site. When presented with this information he made excuses that his phone wasn't working. Seems like you would want a working phone at a business. I would never rent from this U-Haul location again and U-Haul corporation should be embarrassed to have a franchisee like this. I will make sure to let all friends/family who desire to rent a U-Haul know to completely avoid this location. What can be done to improve this situation for the next customer is to have someone from corporate do an audit of the location and franchisee and and revoke his franchise.Kerry K.

Sean was extremely nice and helpful. We had already gone to two other drop off locations before this one and were very upset. The first location we went to was given to us by U-haul. The address didn't exist. We were looking all around town for it. Then, we drove to another U-haul spot. This one turned us away because they didn't have any room. It has now been about an hour, have driven 20 miles between the Uhaul locations and are only about 20 minutes from closing time for the last location in the city. We finally got there, right before closing and were greeted right away. Sean took care of us quickly, despite him experiencing technical difficulties and we were on our way. If I could rate the other two locations, they would get 1 star, but Sean alone gets 5 stars!Malina F.

They did not have a truck for myself or the woman next to me because one "didn't come in". We both had reservations. There definitely needs to be some change in how reservations work, because moving is no joke! Landlords need us out on a particular day or we face harsh consequences. They did eventually find one truck, so I shared it with the woman in line with me. I had to move her and then me in one day! Definitely stressful.Kristen E.
